  • Hey guys, so there is a lot of weight to this little lesson if you dig in here. Proper triads (1-3-5) in every key on sets of three strings at a time. This is where it’s at. You will see a much quicker learning curve if you spend some time on this. Thanks a bunch! GT

    I went back and counted up all the videos Guthrie has recorded. Bye my count it’s roughly 250!!! I have been following his channel pretty much from the start. I have spent a lot of time working with these videos and have gotten so much out of them. I just wanted to mention how grateful I am for the hard work he has put into this. I can’t imagine coming up with all the intros he has shared with us. That alone is mind boggling, not to mention all the incredible instruction. So thank you GT for generosity. Wishing you all the best.

    One thing you consistently work to convey -- and it's vital -- is that melody lives where shapes live. It's easy to get lost memorizing and playing shapes, while missing notes of melodic possibility. Not unlike when we first started learning cowboy chords. Most of us, I'd wager, at least those who learned by ear, started out seeing shapes first, not notes. But once a player gets past the forest, and into the trees, that's the promised land. Thank you as always, Guthrie. 🙏

      this is exactly i was about to ask..... like these melodies lives into shapes or a different story of that....

    • @kerwoodspruce
      @kerwoodspruce Год назад +2

      @@ayushmanbhalla8737 Triads are often used for rhythm, and rhythm fills. But inside those same triads live endless combinations of notes for creating melody and lead. Or a different story, as you suggest. Depends how you look at it -- what you see and hear. Then, what a player can take advantage of, flows from that.

    Mr GT, for me, hearing you name drop only tells me just how generous you are with us. There is no reason, given the company you keep, to share with us so splendidly unless it is at least in part the mark of a generous spirit. So, thank you, drop away! And though of no real value, i can TOTALLY attest to the power of learning your triads...it completely transforms how you will play over the changes....so, preach on ole boy!

    I’ve been playing off and on for nearly 50 years now and a lot of these concepts I understand but you have a perspective on those ideas that makes me start all over learning things that I thought I knew. In many cases, I know how to play things but watching your channel and stealing tips from you actually explains why those things work as they do. In other words, years of playing has been fun, but getting my eyes opened to some of the theories of and why it works makes me eager to learn even more now.
    Continued blessings and success with your channel and your work in the music world Maestro.
