Great video! Santa Fe is my favorite fallen flag railroad. I even have a two HO scale Bachmann Spectrum Santa Fe GE Dash 8-40CWs. I've only gotten Warbonnet and Fakebonnet Dash 9-44CWs a handful of times here in Georgia.
Hi from Milton Keynes in England. I only recently got into videos of rail operations in the US. I am a retired driver - I used to drive electric units on the Rugby to London line - and a long time railfan, but I have to say that modern day operations in the UK are pretty boring now. I particularly like the videos made by yourself, mbMars and Rowan, they've given me hours of very interesting entertainment in the last couple of months. I've also just bought a book 'Guide to North American Locomotives', so I can now identify what I see in the videos. Although very short, I found this video about the Warbonnet interesting because it explained something I didn't know before - I'd heard of Warbonnets but didn't realise it referred to the paint scheme ! Having now seen your video I understand the significance and the heritage behind the livery. Thank you.
Love the warbonnet. Loved sitting on the side of tracks and watching the warbonnets. I can remember when I saw Santa Fe gp60m for the first time. It was love at first sight…lol. I have warbonnets on my n scale layout. Thanks for sharing!
Thinking about it, the Warbonnet dash 9s are pretty much the last remnant of 90s railroading before all of the mergers and everything was infected by psr
Awesome discovery of this fine relic of this A.T.S.F. War bonnet. I have a similar model in HO SCALE in ATHEARN 9-44 CW same scheme. Awesome 🎥 video enjoyed viewing.
Yep seen the warbonnets in old pics and videos I have a ho scale Bachman dcc ready war bonnet gp40-2 True fact is that atsf had a few GP’s in the war bonnet, I believe 2 survived and were repainted back into bluebonnet, the others were scrapped from what a freind told me. Either way I hope I can see a war bonnet but them coming up on CSX through Massachusetts is an extremely rare sight, it’s rare if normal up units make their way up here, bnsf is a sometimes seldom visitor, but heritage and special units always find their way up here
Now these are the original warbonnets locos, to bad they are certainly slowly but surely deminshing😭. That's why I've purchased this particular unit on my ho scale layout, but the 3 I've got are the B-50 units, they ARE CABLESS and all 3 run great, by the way great catch, more video of these great lookn locos, please!!!! Nice!!!✌️👌👍
Actually 712 story goes back a little after the merger. I believe it was one of the first of its kind ever built for the BNSF. It was painted in that scheme because the railroad was so desperate for power they slapped BNSF on the side of the Warbonnet paint.
Down here in Dallas Tx i see them quite often. There is a junction at Tower 55 between the Union Pacific and the BNSF railway. Those are known as part of BNSF heritage units
I've never seen a warbonnet cause I rarely see foreign power in Maine, I'd even be fine with seeing the BNSF bonnets. I want a model one but can't find much either. Great video!
BNSF should just bring back the Santa Fe name and paint schemes, bothe the yellow and blue warbonnet and the incomparable red and silver, and paint the lower horsepower units into the older pre warbonnet blue and yellow.
@@JointedStudios If you have a large yard with a lot of consists to put together, the remote operator works solo and puts the trains together. My son was a UP conductor and he had to do that on the ground using a chest remote controller. He also had to grab onto a car that he was hitching to another one. On and off until the train was put together. The chest remote had a safety feature that if he fell it set off an alarm to the yard boss. It actually happened to him. He was okay, just slipped on a wet step. I was hired to work remote near Syracuse. The current guy had what looked like a half caboose that he stood on. Cheers.
They really need to bring the Warbonnet back. I'm tired of the bland oranges, dark greens, etc.

Hey! I love your videos and I’m also a fellow Georgian. It’s nice to see another Georgian. :)
Thanks! Good to hear from a fellow Georgian!
@V12 Productions for another video can you go to Buford, GA? I go there all the time and it’s a nice little town and they get a bunch of trains a day.
Another great video. Always learning something new from your video’s. Thanks again
Thanks!
From what I heard, the Gullwing cab was both for clearance at coal load outs, and ‘aerodynamics’.
I don't see what's different about the Gullwing cab. It looms normal to me.
There is a small curve in the cab roof compared to other flat cab dash 9’s
I just started collecting model trains, and i have 2 locomotives a Amtrak P42, and a A.T.S.F. Bluebonnet and the Bluebonnet is my favorite.

They Don’t Call it HotLanta for Nothing. 😬 We have a Solid Number of Warbonnets in the STL. 👍
Awesome video :)
Thank you!
The first 24 700 series carried "Santa Fe" in the cigar band nose stripe. 725 on up spell "BNSF."

The Santa Fe warbonnet scheme is a beautiful train

The BNSF 700's and some 4700's are fakebonnet dash 9' and some 500's dash 8w's 600's are EX-Santa Fe (no matter paint)

When your an adult and mom tells you to play with your trains
I’m confused what is a coal cab or whatever it’s called?
That was so awesome.
My dad said the war bonnet paint scheme was the ugliest paint scheme ever on an engine. And I was like... *BRUH WHAT!?!??!*
SANTA FE ALL THE !!!
BNSF should just bring back the Santa Fe name and paint schemes, bothe the yellow and blue warbonnet and the incomparable red and silver, and paint the lower horsepower units into the older pre warbonnet blue and yellow.
1:16 Bruh that guy is just sitting next to the steps and the door just letting the train run itself.
You did hear him mention that it was remote controlled using a belt mechanism? He has all the controls needed for yard work.
@@rvnmedic1968 Yea but i wonder why some railroads do have that mechanism...
