Outstanding catch. KCS announced a couple years ago that they were going to build a new yard in Jerseyville Illinois (close to me) but only if the state completed a highway upgrade/extension which they are close to completing but with the whole CN or CP buyout many folks wonder if the yard will still get built. Fingers crossed. Anyhoo thanks for sharing another great video 👍
@@alcopower5710 ah alright… well I’d imagine the yard would still be built, although it would have to be done in no later than a year, since CP has acquired KCS (although they signed a voting trust), the STB is likely to come to a decision late 2022… so if the yard takes over a year, I don’t know how much CP (if the merger goes through, then the CPKC), will value the yard
@@z0rzx362 I sure hope it happens. When it was announced they said it would bring up to 2000 jobs to the area because it’s supposed to house an industrial complex. Plus some great rail fanning opportunities 😎
Just a tip off from a current NS conductor in Birmingham, KCS power is rather common on our tracks. All of the stack trains we interchange with them in Meridian, MS (225/226, 23E/24E and 219/220) almost always have either KCS or UP power. Other trains that commonly sport KCS or UP power are 340/339 (KCS), 344/345, 355, and 314 (UP). In my experience, the true rare foreign power locomotives are BNSF and CSX, as well as the two Canadian roads and Ferromex
Amazing video, Charlie. Just saw NS 8103, my 11th heritage unit. The reason why we’re getting so much foreign power is since Norfolk Southern has sold off and sent so many locomotives to the scrap yard. They’re thinking about reactivating some of the older locomotives such as the SD70M-2’s. Keep up the great work! - Carter
@2:25 you showed a 'dropped signal' in Tucker, GA? Thank you. I really enjoy seeing block signals and I LOVE to see signals change their aspect. Please show more of these...if your camera angle allows. I would be honored to see this more often. Great video today.
I just missed the UP 1943 unit that’s similar to that one here in central Texas a couple days ago, all I had to do was not fall asleep early and I did haha
What a great set of caatches! Thanks for sharing. I live in Oklahoma andwhile BNSF are the dominant eailway, we also get NS, UP, KCS, AMTRACK, and CSX, units with some regularity, and are occasionally given a chance to catch CP, CN, KCS de Mexico, and FERROMEX locomotives passing through. There is a steady stream of trains which makes spotting quite fun.
You guys are pretty lucky down there in Atlanta seeing everything from CSX to BNSF to KCS. Out here in Ontario Canada, it's a lot harder to see foreign power where I am but occasionally theres something like the CN BC rail heritage unit and the BC rail c40-8m.
Near Austell City Hall is really popular. Also the Marietta Road bridge that goes above Inman Yard. There's also a place called "CP Bridge" near Inman on Parrott Avenue.
Y’all out East get way more foreign power than we do in the Midwest. I have never seen anything other than UP, BNSF, or KCS. And Amtrak if you count that. My favorite locomotive I’ve ever seen was one of the old red and silver Santa Fe’s. Best paint scheme out there in my opinion
Honestly, not a fan of the KCS 4006 paint scheme. To me, it just says, "So, er, let's do some white stars on blue, some red and white stripes and, er, I dunno, something on the back third, too."
Great video and a great catch! We were able to catch that unit here in Wisconsin over the summer on the CN. We subbed. If you get a chance check out our channel also :)

How close is your state to completing the highway expansion?
@@z0rzx362 it is actually complete now ahead of schedule. They are just finishing minor details like clean up, signage, etc

I saw KCS 4009 with a really bad horn a couple months ago! Great Video!!

Thanks! I remembered that some people like seeing that. I'll try to get a close up next time. ( :
Funny, I just saw a UP, KCS, and a NS manifest with UP today 🤣
Where at
Fantastic video and commentary thank you very much
Nice catch! Thanks for sharing.
At 3:40 in your video that UP sd70ace no. 9090, I caught it leading a manifest in oregon!

I have seen NS &CSX locomotives in Los Angeles
I was able to catch 1988 in Mableton that November. Such a cool looking unit!
Atlanta was originally a railroad hub known as marthasville the trains used to run through underground Atlanta where the one mile post is

Nice video! I caught UP 1988 trailing on a intermodal train on the last day of November in Ames, Iowa
Thanks!

Ohhh there some bad news NS 8099 derailed 🙄😒
I have seen that KCS locomotive in real life it went through my city one summer evening
God that is a beautiful veterans scheme
Im just sat looking at those bent trailers....
Isn't it true the different companies share and lease their trains out?
I can’t help but wonder what will happen to 4006 now that KCS and CP have merged.
Love it !
What kind of locomotive is that 1988???
An SD 70 Mac locomotive
Some times the Sun ☀️ causes more issues depending on the angle you’re at. Clouds are OK. 👍
I have that o-scale MTH exact locomotive
Nice!
What in the heehaw happened to those 53' chassis trailers??????
That must be where they keep all the damaged trailers.
