I think, that the better way to do this holes is to make alpha texture. Less geometry = more optimized + any changes will be easy to do. But anyway, great tutorial!
As far as I'm aware, using an alpha mask for the holes won't give you the thickness or depth, since there's no texture for the sides of the holes. I remember running across this before convert image to grease pencil/mesh was a thing, and people were trying all sorts of crazy ways to fake thickness in order to have non-destructive holes. Like having the texture repeat hundreds of times with very tiny steps so that it looks like it was solid. Also if I remember right, because of how blender calculates light paths, alpha masks actually take longer to render than complex geometry. Like a tree with with flat planes and leaf texture on a transparent background will render slower than each leaf being individually cut out as physical geometry. But hey it's been years and now the best way is geometry nodes but those are scary.

The point of this design is that, yes its high poly but no its not ready for the next big game title lol. It'd look good in renders though.
@@MostafaAhmed-bp7ce you can model the bumps but have the holes be a transparent part of a cut out texture, then use a shader that doesn’t have backface culling. You can also shade smooth so you don’t destroy your computer instead of subdividing into the next dimension like seen in the tutorial.

Yes.
