    I've had my 6 Pro since November last year and my experience with the hardware's been great. Even the fingerprint scanner is just fine in the right conditions. To me that translates to my hands not being dry which gets in the way of the scanner reading my fingerprint. When my hands aren't dry the fingerprint works great. Yes it's slower than a regular fingerprint scanner (Pixel 3 for example) but in my experience it's nowhere near as bad as people make it out to be. One more thing I noticed is that the scanner works more reliably if I don't use my fingertip but a lower part of the finger where the fingerprint swirl is.
    Another point for me was the battery life. I came from a 3 year old Pixel 3 which by now had pretty terrible battery life so an improvement was easy to be had. However I noticed that disabling 5G and "Mobile Data Always Active" in developer options basically doubled my battery life to where I can without a problem squeeze 2 days out of my new Pixel. With every monthly patch I briefly tried enabling 5G but it didn't seem much better than it was which leaves me to believe that there's a hardware issue with the modem. I can live with it as 5G speeds in the Netherlands haven't been that big an upgrade for me. For now I'll keep it off and enjoy the fact that I can basically run my phone between 80% and 30% on a daily basis to keep battery degradation to a minimum.
    As far as the software goes, it's been hit and miss in terms of fluidity in the first software builds. While it was completely usable and still an upgrade compared to my previous Pixel 3, it kept getting smoother as it got updated which made me realize there was improvements to be had. I haven't had any of the major bugs or issues that have been reported on the internet. I wonder if all those issues could be solved by wiping the phone and starting fresh without a full restore from an old phone/backup.

    • @CConn882

      Nice catch with the mobile data always on thing.
      And yeah, unless you're in like a football stadium and getting that ultra fast signal, 5G is kind of pointless.

    I have been an Apple user for the last 6 years, and have always boasted how Apple outperforms android smartphones, but, despite myself being a loyal Apple user, the user interface has become something so "normal" and nothing majorly new and exciting (that is until the iOS 16 update release).
    Which, over the last few months I've noticed the Pixel 6 Pro and watching the reviews and usage, it is been incredibly convincing to make the switch just to make a change and have a new feel. Again, despite not being a huge fan of android, the Pixel 6 Pro looks like a entire game changer.

      @sathira Anuk you can get exact same experience with pixel 6. I absolutely loved my pixel 6 until I dropped it too many times and had to upgrade today....got the 6 pro. There is no phone like pixel 6/pro. Nothing compares to the smoothness and the pure android 12 experience. No BLOAT WARE. ThaT is extra apps and shit you do not need pre-installed on a phone. These phones are gorgeous and smooth. The camera is arguably best in the game. The updates for these phones have pretty much killed issues. That used to be an issue. Pixel 6 is an AMAZING phone. Pixel 6 has curved edges and has a better OLED screen and 120 hz. but even without these things pixel 6 is still an awesome deal.

    I have multiple phones due to work, so I managed to devise a personal test to determine the capability of the phone. Which is having a call, while using gps, while texting, swiping through apps to review some information (Chrome, Gmail, Calendar, Work Apps). I can tell it's pretty taxin since the phone usually gets warm/hot.
    Suffice to say, iPhone executes this flawlessly, while on Android it always lagged, stutter or crashed. Surprisingly, the Pixel 6 executed this flawlessly. So it's a huge win for me.
    Tensor is clearly capable.

  • @peterschmidt9942
    @peterschmidt9942 2 года назад +3

    A couple of the features I'm really enjoying and using often is the magic eraser and translating audio. I can then send a dictation to a file and start editing quickly without the need to fully type something out. Much quicker than handwriting a note and having an app convert handwritten to type even with a few mistakes in-between. I can also take a note while I'm driving.
    One thing you hit on was cases. I had a hell of time trying to find ANY case for a Pixel Pro and in the end had to settle for an actual Pixel case as Otter were just about out of stock of anything Pixel (completely out of Pro stock). The Pixel case is also a little too smooth and I'm always afraid it's going to slip out of my hand because of the size and weight.
    I'm not finding any issues with the screen - probably because I put a screen protector on it so I'm not seeing any of issues you mentioned. But the adaptive brightness is a bit hit and miss, especially when in full sun. And the finger print recognition can be a bit hit and miss in full sun.

    @6 Months Later Reviews
    I was very tempted to get the #Pixel6Pro ($899) last year of Oct/Nov 2021.
    Glad I held off and got it (8 months) later for *$449* ( $699 *sale price* minus $250 *old phone trade-in* )
    Yeah, I’d also prefer that #Android12 #MaterialYou App Icons also changes for non-Google Apps to give your device a consistent overall look.
    I haven’t had any real issues except in the beginning when the battery was draining fast. But the #AdaptiveBattery feature changed all that after it learned my patterns and habits.
    I also prefer the higher QHD+ displays w/ higher refresh rate rather than a 1080p FHD display.
    Overall, I’ve been pretty satisfied with its performance and will hang on to it quite sometime.
    Mind you I’m coming from a #Pixel4a5G with its sub6 GHz connection. Having that #mmWave band is sweet to have on the Pro model. Yeah, it’s sparse. But when I’m in its area, it’s blazing fast up to 3++ GB speeds!

    Best phone I've had, wouldn't go back to iphone (which I haven't touched since a 4 after moving to andriod) or now a Samsung after getting the pixel 4xl a couple of years ago. The 6 pro is brilliant and one of the main things I look for is a decent camera. For the price this is a no brainer, does everything a Samsung does and has a better camera. Pixel has some nice added extras but general everyday people won't notice much of a difference between phones that cost twice the price and the pro.

      @@LilWoodyHC yeah, I've had it for about a week now and feel like a crazy person because despite the universal acclaim for it, it seems kind of awful to me. Like the screen and camera are nice, sure, and it charges relatively fast...but the UI is slow and stuttery. Like even when it's technically not stuttering, it still feels way more jerky and abrupt than phones like the Pixel, OnePlus, and the iPhone. The battery life has also not been good at all. It's far worse than the S21U, and accubattery is saying I should only get 6.5 hours of SOT vs. the Pixel's 7 (pro) and 7.5 (standard 6). Maybe it's just me and you'll love it, but for me, I prefer both Pixels over it. And the OnePlus 10 tbh. Battery life and the fluidity of the UI is what's most important to me in a phone.

    I have 13 Pro, Pixel 6, and Galaxy S22. Love all of them. The pixel is something special. if only the finger print reader wasn't so bad. I had to set it up to stay unlocked at home and at work. which solves the problem for the most part. The reader also isn't as bad as some make it out to be. I wouldn't wait for 7, the 6 is fantastic.

      doc B - Sorry to hear that fingerprint reader is so flakey, but thank you for the heads up. Waiting for the 7 might be worthit - maybe they'll actually respond to customer demand to include a headphone jack so we can again enjoy good fidelity music from our phone.

    I am disapointed with Pixels Corning Gorilla Glass Victus.
    After few months of use it get two deep scratches I have never experienced on other devices I used.
    Of course all of my phones I carry in my pockets, sometime with bunch of home or car keys.
    Scratches on Pixel 6 are much deeper than any of scratches on older phones ever made.
    Have You heard about any problems with its screen covers ?

    and even a 47Mb file too took 5+ minutes to download? I just got my phone downgraded to a pixel 6pro from a Samsung S20FE....

    I have been using an iPhone for the last 10 years now. I am not sure how a pixel would feel to me. However, I think this is the best time that I can at least think of moving to an android, thanks to a mature phone from google. Do you suggest that I move from an iPhone 11 pro to a pixel 6 pro? I am also confused about which colour to pick? I have been using a black iPhone SE and a graphite iPhone 11 pro. Feeling I should move to white or sunset orange, but not so sure about the silver bezels vs the black ones on the black pixel 6 pro. I think they look classier than the silver ones.

      Dude yes, I like how minimal they are but other than that my experience with it was awful. Not only discoloration, but the case started warping around the charging port, the power button, and volume buttons. Thankfully I had a Zagg screen protector on it. I have a small crack on the screen protector near the power button because the case didn't maintain its original shape. Switched to an OtterBox case from Verizon much better. It's pretty light, protects the device without any of that warping, and protects from dirt and stuff getting into the charging port.

    I just bought my pixel 6 this morning off of google, and I’m kinda nervous to be honest.
    I’ve been reading and watching all sorts of reviews and they say it’s good, but I haven’t used android in a hot minute. Im switching from the iPhone 11. The cost was a bit much, I’m Canadian so our prices are different, but I added the phone and the charging brick to my basket, and it was around $800. Fine. Calculate tax, add $100 tax fees and whatnot so it is now $900. Great.. I just hope that was worth it.

    I'm thinking about switching from my note 10 plus to a pixel 6 Pro only downside for me is I can't put an sd card in I like to have the extra storage incase I need it my note 10 is also having quite a few issues now I find I'm having to reset it about 3 times a day because it just freezes the finger print scanner is terrible on the note 10 and there is a couple of other buggy things with it. My question is will I be happy with the 6 Pro over my note 10 or am I best going for a newer Samsung and just paying out a bit more?

    Hi, can you tell me about two things: wireless charging and optical zoom. How fast does the 6 Pro charge on wireless charging and is there a difference between wireless charging? Does the telephoto lens always work honestly or does the phone trigger the cropping from the main sensor in low light? Would appreciate a response)

    • @6MonthsLater
      @6MonthsLater  2 года назад

      It’ll charge up to 80% in about 90 min or so on a wireless charger in my experience. 4x optical will work in low light, I think it’s still using optical for photos in low light and not cropping the sensor but those images don’t look great regardless so hard to tell. In video you don’t get the option for 4x optical if it detects low light - Josh

    My question is this. I don't plan to use the Google Pixel 6 Pro for anything more than taking photos, media consumption, video/audio calling, and chatting. This is gonna be my personal phone as I will buy the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra as my work phone. For those four, I want the Pixel 6 Pro to work without those frequent bugs that have been reported by many users. Are the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro worth buying now for my dad and I respectively, or should we just wait for the 7 and 7 Pro?

    I just recently purchased a Pixel 6A. I love this thing.
    Everything about it is GREAT.
    The ONLY downside to it: the charging speed. Though, yes, faster charging DOES make a battery's health decrease at a faster rate than slower charging. This thing charges noticeably slow.
    I use a 30W brick with USB-C to USB-C, the Pixel is definitely charging at 18W.
    18W + 4410 mAh is definitely a 1hr30min charge, if not more.
    Other than that, only other thing I have to say is that the finger print sensor is a little persnickety.

    There's a few accessories i look for in a phone no matter what generation it's from and i hope Google gets the hint, but unfortunately I just have to go with other brands on Amazon and/or Best Buy until they do. For example, there's so many people that still have old cars (I don't even have a backup camera). What do older cars don't have? They don't have bluetooth capabilities and/or android auto. Therefore, I have to use a usb c to aux adapter for my aux cord. I refuse to get a brand new car while I live in the city. It's pointless.
    But not just that, when I'm going on long distance road trips I need to use my audio & GPS which the battery will run faster because of it and therefore you either have to have a great car charger or wireless charger, both of which Google doesn't have. I do use bluetooth headphones at the gym, but that's about it. I wouldn't get a pixel watch as I'm a swimmer and I use something that's waterproof and can track my laps. I would love official accessories vs off market ones.
    With the phone cases, I always just get it off of Amazon or Aliexpress because for my out and about one, I always use a wallet phone case. And around the house I like something cute. But no phone brand will actually sell phone cases that I just mentioned.

    What keeps me coming back to Pixel is the cool features like call screening, hold for me, magic eraser, the great cameras and getting the android updates faster. I ordered a pixel 6 and waiting on it to arrive. Had it before all the updates and I’m hoping it fixed the battery drain and standby time issues. Because at this point, I’m burned out on iPhone because they keep going backwards in quality while raising the prices. Then Samsung is so way overpriced and has atrocious battery life/standby time with laggy animations. Ultimately I love the stock android experience and Google has a premium feeling flagship for $599. Making it a great deal.

      Work apps will work with both, it’s an Android feature. There are several ways to send files wirelessly to your computer, I believe there’s a better integration with windows right now. For Mac you can use Bluetooth or plug in the phone and use Android File Transfer to pull files off of the phone. Hope that helps and glad you enjoyed the review! - Josh

    What I'm fed up with on the Samsung phones is paying $1,200 USD for a device and still having to dig into app setting to get rid of ads that plague the device to no end. Even after going through the tedious process, it still doesn't get rid of all the ads, and the ads usually come back when the app updates. I really miss the days when carriers didn't lock down their phones, they could be rooted, and a custom ROM could be installed, even if the device was still being paid for. I figure getting a Pixel phone is probably the closest thing to a barebones Android experience that I'm going to get.
