    Thank you so so much. I’m a female in a male dominated position and I work for an amazing company however I have been dealing with such backlash about how I’m not strong enough and I’m not fast enough compared to others in my field. I am literally anxiety ridden every morning and night and I have stepped into closets and bathrooms to cry or even just regroup but the only “help” I’ve been given is to not call in and work through it and tough it out. I cannot work like that and on top of everything I’m in the middle of a separation with my husband and we have a young son whom happens to be autistic so it’s been extremely difficult. I’m going on to work today to have this conversation. I am scheduled today so that may look bad but they’ve cut my hours back to one day a week :(

      I'm reading this 2 yrs later and can Identify with this. Male dominated job and same. I
      HOPE THAT YOU'RE LIFE IS BETTER NOW.
      I've cried too. I got to the point of working through it by processing my own pain in private. My attitude was horrible at work because I was dealing with a ton of stuff On top of work stress and being kinda ostracized by "the Boys Club" coworkers.
      I did tell the boss I was thinking of quitting.
      Long story short I didn't.
      The Boss's Boss talked to me because I'm am a decent worker . I got a little raise, was heard, & my work load got easier. 😊
      The toxic environment stayed the same though. But I had to learn -on my own -to deal with my frustrations and feelings by processing them and staying to myself 99% of my shifts. I had a great day @ work next Monday for the first time since I was hired.

      When they cut your hours down to one day a week is a message they are not interested in keeping you or value your work.
      I had an employer pull this crap on me. They cut my hours down so the hours worked were only enough to pay your benefit deductions. The end result was paychecks for $0.00. They left me with nothing to cover my living expenses, pay Bill's, buy food, or pay for gas to fill the tank in my car so I can get to and from work. On the second week, I saw the schedule for the third, and fourth weeks. All of the weekly schedules had me only scheduled to work only one day a week. I went home, and started to apply for other positions, and updated my resume. Also, I contacted human resources. H/R said there was definitely something going on, and to schedule you so you only have $0.00 paychecks required someone planning behind my back to try to force me out. A new job came to me right away so I gave them my two week notice. After giving my notice, I just did not go back.

    Very good but some Supervisors are not understanding, some Supervisors would prefer you to resign rather then allow you to transfer if they found out that you are unhappy. Some Supervisors feel that they don't need that change and they tried to make you feel that YOU are the problem.

    I tried to talk to my supervisor and she shut me down. She never even made an effort to have a professional relationship with me. I just told her I've accepted a job offer and she is PISSED. She even started micromanaging me and undermining me in front of my co-workers. She did not even share the departure news with the team. This is why managers are blindsided with resignations.

      Yeah exactly most of the time it's not realistic trying to talk with them as there's a risk that they can shut you down and make your life 10x times harder. IMO it's always better to quiet quit and start fresh.

    Many individuals who are content with their job and colleagues are reluctant to quit their organization. However, they may find it necessary to switch managers or supervisors. In essence, when there is a high turnover rate and multiple employees resign, it could be an indication that the manager or supervisor is not meeting their expectations. It is almost like the employees are firing their manager or supervisor instead of the other way around.

    Really good information; however, in a "right to work" state with At-Will employment it is a little difficult to bring discontent up for discussion without having some leverage under your sleeve...and the thought of "why if they are just keeping me happy for some time until they find my replacement" will always remain...

    • @CareerSuccess
      @CareerSuccess  6 лет назад +6

      When you give your feedback (or voice your concerns), let your boss know that you cannot be successful because of "concerning issue" and you want to be successful in your position with the company. Let your boss know that you want them to be a thought partner for you.
      At the end of it all, IF they were to fire you for your honesty that is a company you don't want to be working for.
      I hope this helps. I'm proud of you for wanting to use your voice!

      I'm sorry that you are experiencing a boss who gets angry because you want better for yourself. Stay focused on your goal and good luck to you. Keep me posted!

    • @CareerSuccess
      @CareerSuccess  5 лет назад +1

      Hi there, great question! Thank you for bringing it to me.
      You can do two things! First, share your interest in learning about the other department with your current boss. They should be in the loop (and may be able to help you). If you don't feel that they would take it well, you may not want to.
      Next, Set up an introductory meeting with the leader of the department of interest and learn more about the department. At the end of the meeting, express an interest in working within the department one day. You’d be surprised at how many people have gotten opportunities because they expressed interest before a job was open!
      Let me know how it goes! Good luck.

      Hello, thank you for stopping by the Career Success Channel. I am sorry that it seems there's a huge disconnect between the role and responsibilities you applied for, and your current role. I recommend scheduling a meeting with your manager, and take the job description from the role you applied for with you. Tell your manager that the role you are working in is not what you applied for, then proceed to share your requirements and tasks in the current role versus the job description of the role you applied for. Be clear on stating that you are not happy in the role because it is not what you envisioned. Ask for his/her help to resolve the issue. Best of luck to you. Keep us posted.

      Thank you for your question. In most organizations managers have 1 on 1 meetings with their staff, at least once a month. This would be a great time to have this conversation. During this meeting I would ask your manager for professional feedback regarding your performance, then move into discussing your concerns in the workplace. This is an open forum between the two of you. If these meetings aren't currently being held, I recommend you schedule one. That is completely acceptable. I hope this conversation goes well for you and Thank you for watching!

    I am having full on panic attacks about my job, how do I tell him that? I mean that’s concerning. I’ve only been at this job 2.5 months when it takes 6 to “get”. And yet he doesn’t want to talk about the issue at the center, he wants to find another reason, any other reason other than the center of my problem.

    • @CareerSuccess
      @CareerSuccess  4 года назад +1

      I think that there are multiple parts to your question. The first thing that I would share is that before you go to your manager, be clear on what you believe the core of the problem is AND what you need to see happen on the job to fix this problem. In doing this exercise, you may discover that the problem isn't something that your manager can fix, but maybe you need their support while you are working on it on your end. As for the last part of your question, I wonder if your manager isn't talking about the problem because he doesn't know what it is, or if he thinks he is talking about the actual problem. The goal here is to be as clear as possible with your manager when you state the problem and also when you state what you need in order for it to be fixed. Keep me posted!

      Same situation is currently going on with me. I am new to a project in my organization. A technology which i thought that i wanted to work on. After coming in the project i saw there were no proper knowledge transfer. Only recordings which doesn't tell much about the actual work and just the theory of it. I was assigned a tedious process for which i have to stretch to 13-14 hours whenever it is being done. Because of this there is a constant fear of doing something wrong. And getting an escalation on my head. This fear has increased so much that i am having stress and anxiety. I even have come to this conclusion after experiencing it that i made a wrong judgement call in deciding the technology. What's done is done. It is time to talk to my manager and tell him what's going on with me. I can see resignation as the only option for me because in my organization changing projects is a task which lags to 6-9 months. Sometimes an year! And i don't want to go through that process again. Any suggestions before i go speak will be much appreciated.

    Well, I had a talk with my boss about a psychotic coworker who was discriminating against me. The idiot boss says that I'm the problem.
