Johnson and Norton Jr were the big losses. Discipline and the injury bug would plague them the next year. With Johnson at the helm in 1994 to keep the team disciplined, polished, and hungrier, they do 3 peat.
Watching this again, Woodson cams so close to a Pick 6. But looking back on his career, I think he played his best when he was able to play run support.
I remember when they got Deion. The sentiment then was that they didn't have to have Deion to win the superbowl...unless Deion was on the other team. A force of nature best tamed by getting a star on his helmet..
Barry Switzer proved that anyone could coach that era’s Cowboys and win a Superbowl. If Mr. Johnson had still been coach, Dallas would have been going for four straight championships and Steve Young would still have a monkey on his back.
All the cowboys lineman said they never made the pro bowl till Emmitt Smith got there, plus payton and sanders had many all american high round pics for there O-line , plus smith went against teams that had top defenses , they did not .
Compared to the next year where the Eagles played them tough and had that goalline stand, the Cowboys here were still dominant and winning off their talent. Where Emmitt Smith would get his touchdown or 2 and Deion was able to get an interception. The Cowboys were just a better team before it came slowly apart the next year.
I thought that "goal line stand" was with Buddy Ryan's defense? Maybe there was more than one. I am a huge Eagles fan since I was a kid, and really got into watching the games when Buddy was head coach because of that incredible defense. Man, if they had a better offensive line for Cunningham during that time, the Eagles would have had multiple Superbowls in that era.
