I am gamine and sometimes I don't like it... I used to feel unsexy and not beautiful. Don't get me wrong, I love being "boyish", boisterous, and bold, but sometimes I felt that compared to how striking dramatics are, how gorgeous romantics are, how otherworldy ethereals are, etc, we gamines were just... underwhelming. Why would someone want to look at us when they can look at them? Well, the fact that you started by saying "All the essences are beautiful... but gamines have a special spot in my heart", well that was so flattering and honestly a boost of self-confidence. The fact that somebody could like... me? Game-changing. You say that people can be attracted to us because we do have charisma. You don't know how important it was for me to hear that. The nice things you said about us trying to show people that you can enjoy life, that we always show up with a smile, that we bring a positive energy to the environment, all of that was so important to hear. I honestly didn't know that there was someone who appreciated gamines. This video is also full of extremely helpful visual examples, I can only imagine how time-consuming it was to search for all those reference pictures and to edit them into the video. But it makes such a big difference: this video is extremely high quality. I will try to step more into my natural energy, the energy I would have had if my life and experiences didn't dampen my self-confidence, my desire for happiness, my high spirits. This video is so important and it was yet another piece of my "Love yourself" puzzle.
Imagine a hairdresser saying mid-cut, 'We don't have to do this...' 🤣 This tells me the haircuts are a real clue into someone's essence, and you're the first one to really highlight this that I've heard.
I should have listened! I think since haircuts and styles are so close to your face they can really help you cement your aesthetic. That's why I think once people find the "right cut/look" they end up keeping it for a long time and only making subtle changes
So true! I’ve never heard my hairdresser say anything like this to me with my requests lmao! And that’s cause I always ask for weird over the top 60s and 90s styles! That pretty much confirmed my Romantic ID and Ingenue/Gamine dominant essence for me despite my height 😅
The kibbe community beat it out of me that I could possibly have any stitch of gamine essence. I was a soft natural, that’s it. I’m romantic and natural, but then - I looked back at my history. I suited short hair very well, I was known for being unexpected and playful, and I don’t feel right unless I wear my quirky pieces. I also studied essences from Truth is Beauty…. And low and behold everyone - when not seeing me through kibbe constraints - saw romantic natural AND gamine.
Lol! Wow, almost identical over here. Soft natural with natural and romantic essence but something felt missing. I thought dramatic because I have a big personality, but it's so harsh on me. This video just confirmed that my face and energy is so very gamine. It's why I struggled to ID in Kibbe for a long time. My body definitely has width and my bones are not small and delicate, but my face and height feels so gamine. Finding the essences has filled in the picture more clearly.
Omg this is me! I'm a Kibbe Soft Natural, but sometimes I feel like I look a bit too playful, especially when I suit short hair so much (more than I suit long hair). Now I'm exploring the 7 essences to find my blend.
I’m a FG in Kibbe and I recently determined what my “three words” are to describe my personal style: androgynous, structured & playful. I was having a hard time figuring out what my last word should be but when I looked more into the gamine essence, I found it really game-changing. I was always drawn to both classic and dramatic/edgy styles, but it always felt either too dull or too serious on me. When I realized my last word was “playful”, all I had to do was stick that adverb before any other aesthetic and it was now my style (eg. playfully classic or playfully edgy). It’s a relief knowing you have a word that really grounds your personal style together succinctly. Like a home base.
Saaame! In Kibbe, I'm a Soft Gamine, love some styles, even the makeup; but the whole look doesn't work for me. Hence, discovering that in Kitchner's Style Essence, I might be a Ingenue, but I don't like pastels LOL I have always gravitated towards a more romantic, classy in style as my personal preference AND NOW EVERYTHING JUST MAKES SENSE!
Elis Regina, a Brazilian singer-songwriter, is a perfect example of a gamine. She was playful, pixie-like, energetic, fun, charismatic, and charming, with a boisterous laugh and contagious smile. She rocked a pixie cut like no one else. Her nickname was "pimentinha", meaning "little pepper". Love her!
When the series is done, I hope you condier making some about specific blends, or how specific styles can work or be worked to suit different essences / blends. ( Gothic grunge for the ingenue or like boho for the classic - dramatic etc. etc. ) I think that would be a fun little time :)
The celebrity essence-blend examples blow me away everytime. Each example makes such perfect sense and offers such a great encapsulation of why Kibbe in isolation can be insufficient.
OH. MY. WORD. I'm only fifteen minutes in so far and I can't even put into words how incredible this makes me feel. I felt so out of place and awkward when it comes to fashion for so long, and I've started finding what works for me more recently but couldn't really put words to why. It all felt like such a weird combination....small but not delicate...bold but not dramatic (in the ID sense)...angular and boxy and somehow kinda...to borrow the word, impish?! But boom, this just puts it all into place. I feel so seen and SO much more confident already. THANK YOU
Please know that I usually find style videos incredibly boring. But yours? Very entertaining. It appears to me that you’re being very genuine and being yourself. I love the way you edit your videos bc it keeps my attention. You also provide a thorough explanation for things. Like I really appreciate that you talk about the history in each of these videos. Because of you I finally feel like maybe I can develop a personal style! 😭 Thank you and keep being you! It’s helping people!
I was waiting for this ❤️ Gamine is my first essence, my family always compare me with celebs like Winona Ryder, Christina Ricci and Jenna Coleman, soooo, it has sense that I have gamine essence 😅. It’s so great to understand a little bit more about our natural beauty ❤️ I cannot wait to see the “Dramatic essence” video, I’m sure it will be fun ⚡️❤😅
haha, yes it would seem you have a strong gamine essence with those comparisons, sounds gorgeous! And I'm glad you liked this vid, hopefully dramatic will be just as good!
As a Kibbe soft classic with some blend of classic, gamine, and ethereal essence, and a true summer color season, there is absolutely a way to combine all of them together. My gamine essence and classic essence are probably equally dominant based on how clothes work with my face and body and there’s a lot of subtle finessing that’s made it possible for me to express my gamine essence while still honoring my balance and light, muted coloring. I use SC silhouettes (and I stick to solid colors mostly), gamine details like sharp collars and cropping, and playful combinations of my summer colors while keeping everything very luminous, and I end up successfully conveying my unique essence blend, which is really true to my personality
@@Gabriellearrudadesign thanks so much, Gabrielle!!! I love your videos and I’d absolutely love to see a video where you get your essences and colors done with *the* John Kitchener once you’re done with the essence series 👀
I'm glad you know how to do it because in my case - having gamine essence and being a soft summer seems literally contradictory haha. I also am a natural with natural and classic essense in my blend, but gamine is the most obvious one.

I actually started doing these timestamps on January 28, 2024, but I took a break. Since then, I have returned, so here it is! Feel free to let me know any comments, corrections, etc. that you have! As far as the video goes, I've got to watch all the other essence videos 😅, but this one was so informative and thorough. Greatly appreciate it!
@@Gabriellearrudadesign Lovely to see that you replied. I know I can get overwhelmed when I watch longer videos and when I'm trying to look for a certain explanation, so I figured it'd be noteworthy to consider making timestamps. Thank you for making these videos; they're very informative as I've mentioned
*LOUD STANDING OVATION* I have been awaiting this video (I think Gamine is my dominant essence) and you did NOT disappoint. This was masterful. Wonderful. All the things. This also helped clarify my essence blend a bit b/c I've been debating whether I just like small c classic style or if Classic is in my blend. I look really good in small scale sharp pieces and rock the hell out of my signature super short pixie. But I can go from sassy to silly REAL quick with too many quirky details. Thank you for another amazing breakdown. I'll probably watch this a million times.
This really confirmed that I have gamine essence but it is a smaller part of my blend. Gamine pants and shoes look great on me. It does make sense why I have been drawn to certain brands and why I have had trouble with pants. Thank you so much for all the work you have done in this series.
i love the intro so much lol i think bc of your cheerful personality and the fact that you can pull of vintage looking pieces people may see that you're gamine. this video is so so helpful and confirms that i have gamine essence in my blend, tho pixie hair looks horrible on me lol apart from that i think the descriptions best describe me and what i want to portray. natural and classic lines look good on me but i think bold colors and funky patterns are always my thing. thank you so much for this video, i enjoy watching it so much!
Finally! Thank you so much for making such a comprehensive explanation. I felt very good after finally discovering I was a Soft Dramatic in kibbie, because, as you said, it explains what silhouettes and fabrics look best on my curves. But I always related more with the gamine essence, and throughout my life friends would say "you look like a fairy" or "you have such a pixie energy about you". Now you finally helped me see how I can combine the two systems in a way that feels like ME. What you do is a service to humanity, thank you so much. 🙏💕
Wow … this is truly something I never heard of in my almost 60 years on this planet. Never too late to learn something new, even if I listen to this at 1.5x.
Not quite understanding this: what do women do with this kind of information? Oh, I get it: if you know your type, then you’ll know what dress works, what hair style works, what interior decor work, etc. Interesting.
Gabby these videos are so insightful and I love there are people in the world as in love with silhouette and visual expression as much as me! I think a super interesting video to make after these deep dives would be how to test out all the essences in order like recommendations when you have genuinely zero idea, or even how to train the eye etc. It's an invisible skill that I envy.
OMG PLEASE do dramatic essence. It took me years to type myself and now that I know I’m having the HARDEST time finding detailed information on the dramatic body type (it’s so looked over). I can’t wait to hear your take on the dramatic essence!!
It took me sooo long to figure out my three dominant essences because I always thought Ingenue wasn’t for me as I am a Flamboyant natural and was pretty sure to have natural and gamine essence. I tried angelic for a while and then it clicked: my face has a lot of ingenue even though I have small eyes my lips are like so small and delicate and even though I am pretty tall (182cm) people thought a lot I was younger than I am and told me I had this innocent sweet vibe. I can only encourage you to ask people how they perceive you, maybe close friends or family when you are having trouble finding your essence blend!
THIS IS THE BEST DEEP DIVE YET!!! It even touches on nuances of the earlier essences that I hadn’t picked up on!!! I honestly had 0 clue there was any gamine in my blend. But after the objective chart look and hearing that ingenue + gamine is super common. Allllllll the light bulbs came on!!!! You are such a valuable resource. ❤
I love the Reeses on the shelf. Hehe. My fav! Love this video. The algorithm is very random but in times like these, very appreciated. I can’t wait to check out your channel!
OMG FINALLYYYYYYY I can’t tell you how much I was looking forward to this video! It totally explained why I have such a hard time finding business clothes that look good on me. If you’re looking for video ideas after this series I would love a guide to gamine business wear and business casual.
⚡⚡⚡I'm not a gamine or a dramatic but I think one of my besties is a dramatic-gamine-romantic and im excited to share with her! I seriously always look forward to your videos and I go back to them a lot for reference. Thanks for all the hard work you put into these your videos are so well produced, informative, and creative! I appreciate you sharing your talents, gifts, and great humor with us! :D
I love the way you communicate your thoughts, and thank you for these videos. You've really gone above and beyond to show your ideas and the history. It's very helpful. Also love the way you speak about women, it's always very caring and thoughtful. This is a great space to learn
I’m a Kibbe Romantic, but struggled when I followed the lines slavishly, as I often felt I was taking myself too seriously and coming across a bit cringe or overtly sexy. Essence-wise, I’m pretty much pure Gamine and resonate with everything you say, even down to the mid century home! I toyed with Ingenue as I look youthful for 46, but I’ve always known-deep down- that I’m far too naughty for that 😂 What a fantastic video, thank you.
Saaame! body is exactly in the romantic lines, but it didn't feel right, I have a kind of tomboyish look and love to dress in a ful way, not in a "sexy pastel colourblend" way, and I felt that maybe it could mean I am soft gamine instead? But in the end, I think I am a kibbe romantic with Gamine essence, and it makes so much sense! (by the way, it fits you very well when you_r hair are attached like in one of your videos!!)
I'm a Kibbe FG with classic, natural and gamine essences. I'm still figuring out which of the 3 essences are most prominent but it's been such a fun journey for me. I've always been drawn to timeless/classic pieces but always feel the need to mix it up with something quirky, fun, or unexpected which translates in many ways through contrasting fabrics (lace and leather), mixing dressy/casual (graphic tees with work trousers and chunky loafers), or basic tee and jeans with a super fun belt, bag, or shoes. Some of my best outfits include really cool thrifted finds. I loved your video! Super helpful and helps me embrace my style without feeling the need to put myself in a box!
Your videos are seriously everything!!!! Thank you!! I really appreciated you let the fabric flow. Fabric is something we undervalue sometimes when shopping. Especially online shopping if we don't understand what a fabric means ( ex. like what does rayon flow like?) by the way I NEEDDDD you on my show! You need more exposure you help so many women 💕
I agree these systems help us appreciate the unique features in each essence or image id. The content keeps getting better and better. Thank you for sharing your knowledge!
Omg! I have inky just started watching this video and it’s like you’ve nailed my essence if I were to be free to express myself; wholly; or….pre-marriage. Thank you! This explains the essence part of the whole Kibbe concept I’ve been trying to understand in regards to myself for over the past year! Thank you!❤
This is the best gamine video I've seen! I somehow feel that I am Gamine to some level, but people very rarely include overweight examples. Thank you.❤❤
I remember waiting and waiting for your website to have more added on to it. You have always had great insight and are really good at communicating it to others. Ao glad I found your RUclips ❤
Wow! So much great information! This was like a dissertation, lol! I love how you articulate the nuances of the different types/essences. Your breakdown of Zoey Deschanel was very eye-opening- it helps pinpoint the fine details and is a more sophisticated interpretation of how the types can manifest. I'm going to need to re-watch this whole series- I see many happy hours in my closet 😂😂Thank you for the amazing work!
🥲I've been loudly saying "Thank you!" to each of the descriptive vignettes throughout the video, all of which I took as compliments hehee. So grateful for this loving and thorough overview!! So many good stills to screenshot for my moodboards 💖👏🏼
This has to be theee most comprehensive video on gamines I have watched!!! Very informative but fun and entertaining 😀 Particularly enjoyed how the gamine style can be incorporated into the every day life. Thank you sooo much!!! This is absolutely life changing 🙏🏾🙏🏾
Your videos are incredible btw. You go deep but explain and demonstrate clearly and on top of it all you're funny and keep the video super entertaining. Absolute talent, I love it.
I would love to see a series where you talk about how to blend different essences and kibbe types together, particularly when the essences and kibbe body type don’t match
@@Gabriellearrudadesign it definitely was! And I have no problem waiting-I honestly learn more from your videos than any other source. Excited for the DRAMATIC conclusion ⚡️
A few minutes into this video and it made me realise that all the women on my maternal grandmother's side of the family definitely have gamine essence, my great grandmother had some classically gamine traits, same goes for my grandma and her sister, her sister's children and their children as well, my aunt also seems to have some gamine, however my mother takes after her father and definitely looks less playful.
Thank you! So good, like always. I truly believe my top essences are gamine, romantic and natural. Now for percentages. I cant wait for the dramatic video, I'm always learning something new
Ahh thank you for this! I was wondering what I was but now I have a clearer understanding of gamine, all I have to do is look at photos of me and my best friend side by side. I do think I have gamine in my blend but I am clearly dominant ingenue, while she is dominant gamine. So obvious now. We are both 5’3” and the same size, both very feminine, but my face and body is soft while hers is strong and angular. We can wear similar outfits - tank and short shorts with sneakers, hair in a headband - but my entire outfit is muted, blended, with small florals and gray sneakers. Hers has stark contrast and bold patterns, street graffiti print top and cheetah print headband, colorful sneakers, and it all looks great on her. We are both playful and laugh often but I am soft spoken with a soft laugh while she’s vibrant and loud. I hope this paints a clearer picture for anyone still questioning!
That's so fun that you can see the distinction between you two. And its cool to look at how you guys wear the same outfit silhouette but the details and energies speak to your respective essences. Thanks for sharing!!
Dramatic outfits looks soooo good on you. and I love how you move in funky way when showing gamine outfits. But how you show dramatic natural is way harmonious on you.
Thank you so much for these videos! They are so helpful. I am Kibbe’s flamboyant gamine but I never felt like gamine styles work for me. This video helped me confirm that I have a very small percentage of gamine (for my petiteness). I think I have bigger percentages of romantic and dramatic styles so now I know to experiment with those and see what fits me 😁
thank you for this! i notice that my fav style is "chic, playful, cute". i take inspiration from the 60s, some 2014 tumblr soft grunge (yes i grew up with tumblr lol) and coquette aesthetic. so i think my essence is a blend of gamine with ingenue as well♡
@@Gabriellearrudadesign I use to love that show! And it did thank you! People have always told me I resemble Clara Bow and Betty Boop who both would have been considered Gamine! So now I have to go cut my hair again ❤️
Since learning about essences I've been confused about having gamine or ingenue essence, I've been waiting for this video cause you give the best descriptions for the essences, and now I can finally see I have a very obvious gamine essence mixed with natural and maybe a bit of ingenue. Great video :D
8:33 I have most of those traits. 😊 boisterous. I like to sing and dance. I get called young lady sometimes. I'm 66 lol. I live in a tiny home painted teal and purple. I look good in men's suits and capris. I think I might have some gamine in my essences. 😄
Wow I LOVED this. Before watching I thought oh I know I defo don't have gamine essence in my blend but I'll watch anyway just because I like your content and interested in the system. Just finished it and now I'm convinced that I have a bit of gamine in me!! I'm a flamboyant natural in kibbe and defo natural is my dominant essence, but I've always gravitated to quirky styles, clashing prints, interesting cuts and my style has morphed so much over the years, my wardrobe is constantly changing because I love trying out new fashion trends even though sometimes they defo don't work on me. People have also described my style as cool or quirky at times. You've given me a lot to think about! Thank you so much for this series, I can tell a lot of hard work goes into making these videos💗
Thank you so much! It's wonderful to hear (even if it questioned what you knew) that you found value in the video. Good luck on your gamine exploration🥰
@@Gabriellearrudadesign absolutely. Your research on these videos is clearly well done. I love yhow you used celeb conparisons that were giving off a similar "first vibe" Then explained where the differences are, that's sometimes easier to follow than complete opposites when you're trying to see the difference between neighbouring types. The explanations, examples, suggestions, are great. I love your videos and am looking forward to the next one ☺
This series has been sooo helpful! I'm 5'10 a kibbe Dramatic body type but my face is natural/gamine/ingenue not sure on the amount of each or what's more dominant but having the elements are super helpful!
Yay, I"m glad that it helped you put those two pieces together. Just knowing which essences can be super helpful. You can refine the balance as you go!
Watching this video made me realize that my best friend definitely has gamine essence. I literally call her my captain of fun, because I can be too serious at times. She's such a rebel that she won't even look into body types and essences because she doesn't want to be boxed in! She's 3 years older than me but people think she's younger than me. But I think her Kibbe type is Flamboyant Natural or Soft Dramatic. She's 5'7 and I'm 5'11.5.
I don't identify as having gamine essence (I’m still on the journey tho!) but I guess my whimsical style really shines through because I see a lot of pieces I own in the outfit recommendations for essence+body type combos. Can't wait for Dramatic!
im so fascinated because im told i have ingenue essence but i LOVE gamine essence… since i have a soft gamine body type i think it’s possible for me to pull off some of the ideas but i’ve definitely noticed how costume-y it can come off. im happy for the trend of lettuce hems coming back cause it can add some softer details to more gamine shapes. i’ve also been told i look a lot like zooey deschanel so ur take on her essence is illuminating bb
This video and your chart are super helpful!!! Thanks to this I was finally able to figure it out cuz I’ve always suspected I’ve had gamine essence but something wasn’t quite clicking - and my essence answer is an almost even spread of romantic and gamine essence with some natural essence! It also now makes PERFECT SENSE with all the looks that I gravitate towards ^_^ and I think the romantic gamine combo is why I also am attracted to ingenue styles
I really enjoyed this video. I am a Romantic-Ingenue looking for my 3rd essence. I think that it’s Natural, Gamine, or Dramatic. I have a little bit of Natural essence and I can identify with some of the Gamine essence (especially with the height portion) plus I loveee the fashion. Can’t wait for the Dramatic essence video! :)
I love this video. I have been exploring my kibbe and essence’s for over a month now. And the results are very different then i initially thought. You must do the work! In my opinion it is not possible to be neutral about you're body and appearance without doing a decent exploring fase. I have so much confidence now and see the fun in clothes and accessories again.
I’m a Kibbe soft natural but feel like i’ve been described a lot in this video! I love that these systems exist, I’ve struggled with personal style for years 🫶🏽
Have been loving bingeing these essence videos! They're really helping me embrace my actual self with my clothing. I've always been quite bold with style, but sometimes went overboard and felt less like myself. I think I'll have a better understanding of my essence blend when I watch the dramatic video (just from the intensity of my face, it's likely a pretty big part of my blend even though I'm 5'4 and most definitely a Kibbe SN). I think my favorite dress really exemplifies my essence blend - it's a tea-length cream linen dress with a sweetheart neckline, tortoiseshell buttons down the center, a nipped in waist, and a large lemon print motif throughout. The pattern continues through the entire dress, and isn't stopped by the clearly defined waist, and the fabric is lined, so it's floaty but not like an unlined linen - it's still got weight and structure to it. I always get heaps of compliments when I wear it, whether it's with heels, sneakers, giant matching lemon earrings, or a dainty ear stack. Hair down and free (I have wavy hair with some ringlets if I let it dry without styling, as I usually do), or in a loose bun. I have the same dress silhouette in white with a blue porcelain print, but it doesn't look as good on me (smaller print, cooler toned colors) by itself. I have to wear that one with bolder coordinating eye makeup and heels OR wear a cardigan/sweater on top to wear with casual shoes. Oops this is long, my apologies.
As these style essence videos went by over the last few months, not gonna lie... I was getting really impatient for the gamine video because the other videos were so informative. But I did notice (and you said it in the naturals video too) that the length of the videos are becoming longer and therefore more comprehensive. This gamine essence video is definitely worth the wait! This is like a full length movie for me haha
Thank you so much 🖤 You can't imagine how enormously happy I am watching this video. Reading some Kibbe gurus, I got an impression, that being gamine is just being a shorty clown with zero sex appeal. And your approach just breaks the whole game and at the same time makes it all sensible. I adore your content, seriously. And as a person struggling dismorphomania for many years I must say that your videos really give me hope and inspiration.
Thank you, it's so incredibly fulfilling to hear that it's helped you on your style journey. And I'm glad it helped you see the gamine essence in a more positive 🥰
Hi. I just discovered your channel and I can't express enough just how much I wish I had learned all about these 'essences' earlier so that I could have built my wardrobe much better. Anyway, thanks for taking the time to make these videos and sharing your knowledge and wisdom about style and fashion to us. 😊💕 Looking forward to the 'dramatic essence.'⚡ I'm just wondering now if all Korean stylists are aware of all these essences that's why most famous Korean personalities always look great and put together on and off tv. 🤔
That's interesting! I think a lot of stylists are aware of the principles even if they don't specifically understand them as an essence system. Like the understand outfit balance and creating an expressive full outfit. Glad you liked the video!
I was recently typed professionally as an ingenue gamine and was told I was like a mini classic. It does speak to me but like you said, it's all about being strategic. I would love to see a video on some strategies for different body types :)
Now i understand so much about my personal style journey. I always wanted to dress like a gamine because i always felt it matches part of my personality but every time I tried to put more than one or two gamine accessories I felt like I looked very mismatched. I suspect I might be a romantic ingenue so that might be why.
It's so valuable to decipher those elements and it helps you lean into your essence blend or strategically dress against it, but with a more trained eye!
This video resonates to me as I have always, even as a child, felt very comfortable in certain clothes, and certain style clothes make me want to take them off immediately including colors. I am definitely gamine. Factors that influence my style are my professional wardrobe dictated by my employer’s expectation of how we present ourselves. I am high energy and have a powerful essence that I constantly have to tamper down my vibe so as not to over powerful. I wear neutral colors in my basic wardrobe but perk up my look with contrasting accessories. I have gross amounts of coats, shoes, glasses, purses and jewelry. I enjoy trends but I am careful to avoid things that don’t work for me like dropped shoulders or oversized clothes. I do like my clothes to be structured with movement and not stuck to my body. I do not like short hair as my hair is fine and has no movement when short. At the same time, I can’t wear very long hair as it drags my face down. My body is rectangle and I have to be careful not to dress to frilly or too severe. There are so many fashions that I wish I could wear but I know they do not work with my body or essence. Once you identify with your body style and essence, it is much easier to choose clothing that you enjoy wearing.
Thank you so much for this video the quality of your content is incredible! You just made my description I didn't even know that I was a Gamine type thank you so much 🙏🏾✨
Would love to see your eye for a tattoos and essence video! Tattoos are highly personal, but can also be fun decoration for the body. It’d be interesting to see what body part emphasis and styles each essence would look in harmony w with
Love this breakdown - thank you so much. Can't wait for the Dramatic video!!! (but can't find the lightning emoticon) Gamine brands I can think off: Mary Quant, Sonia Rykiel, Custo and Alice + Olivia!
Yes! I was waiting for this one! I’m classic but my essence is definitely gamine. I’ve never been able to sit still. I’m very much go go go! I’m in science and my energy can be off-putting to some and because I’m bubbly some people don’t take me seriously. One thing that has always been a constant is my eagerness to learn about anything, everything and my energy helps with that. I’m excited to listen. Thank you covering this one!
I am pure Gamine in Kibbe. And I feel the same. I feel also unsexy and small. Without really feminine face :/
Gamine is my favourite essence!!!
I feel like people like you are the antidote to the toxic beauty standards they try to shove down our throats :)
THANK YOU!!!
LOVE that for you😊
I love how much effort and insight you put into these videos! 😊 you bring the focus and fun back into body typing & styling.
That's amazing to hear, thank you so much!
Totally! A "home base" is a great way to refer to it. You can always deviate but you know where your strengths lie. And I love your style words!
Love her!
Eita, não é que é mesmo? 🇧🇷
Oi@@somethingunusual8456
I’m a big fan of Elis, I had records of hers from back in the day!
Oh my! So true!!
When the series is done, I hope you condier making some about specific blends, or how specific styles can work or be worked to suit different essences / blends. ( Gothic grunge for the ingenue or like boho for the classic - dramatic etc. etc. ) I think that would be a fun little time :)
hope you have found @silkymochi already 😉
I have thank you ☺️
I have learned more by binge watching Gabrielle for the past month than I did In two years of design school.
Gratitude 🙏🏽
THANK YOU
I'm so glad it resonated and is helping you put the fashion puzzle pieces together!!
Thank you and keep being you! It’s helping people!
Thank you so much! this really means a lot and I hope they help you along your personal style journey.
I was waiting for this ❤️
Gamine is my first essence, my family always compare me with celebs like Winona Ryder, Christina Ricci and Jenna Coleman, soooo, it has sense that I have gamine essence 😅. It’s so great to understand a little bit more about our natural beauty ❤️
I cannot wait to see the “Dramatic essence” video, I’m sure it will be fun ⚡️❤😅
haha, yes it would seem you have a strong gamine essence with those comparisons, sounds gorgeous!
That's amazing, sounds like a really cool way to express yourself!

I've made this for myself to look back and for anyone who may find this helpful.
Wow- thank you! So helpful to everyone
I remembered Aurora, the Norway singer, when you talked about quriky personality, looking young, and the medium dresses
Yes! For my aurora also is a angelical/ethereal essence, she is literally a young happy fairy from another world 🤭
@@aradech1470I think ethereal with gamine and some very little ingenue.
This was excellent. i thought i was ingenue but i actually think i might be gamine! thanks for all the detail.
i love the intro so much lol i think bc of your cheerful personality and the fact that you can pull of vintage looking pieces people may see that you're gamine. this video is so so helpful and confirms that i have gamine essence in my blend, tho pixie hair looks horrible on me lol apart from that i think the descriptions best describe me and what i want to portray. natural and classic lines look good on me but i think bold colors and funky patterns are always my thing. thank you so much for this video, i enjoy watching it so much!
I'm so so glad to hear you liked it and it helped!
I can only imagine how much time and effort this video took. Loved every minute of it! Been waiting for this one 🧡
That's such a great idea, thank you! And yes, I do have a love of silhouettes and visual expression, it's nice to find fellow style enthusiasts🥰
@@Gabriellearrudadesign I second this! I think I've figured out my essence blend, only to second guess it weeks later lol
OMG PLEASE do dramatic essence. It took me years to type myself and now that I know I’m having the HARDEST time finding detailed information on the dramatic body type (it’s so looked over). I can’t wait to hear your take on the dramatic essence!!
Im working on it now! 🤗
@@Gabriellearrudadesign I’m so excited! Thanks 😁
Finally I understand someone talking about Kibbe, your videos are amazing!
15 seconds in and clicked on subscribe right away!!! I love the New Girl reference so much omg
What a treasure you are Gabrielle ❤😂 please don't stop those intros they brighten my day 😊
I’m so glad you like them 😂 I have a lot of fun making them
It took me sooo long to figure out my three dominant essences because I always thought Ingenue wasn’t for me as I am a Flamboyant natural and was pretty sure to have natural and gamine essence.
Thank you! I’m so happy it helped!
When you put that dress of natural/dramatic blend you were BLINDING!! It looks gorgeous on you
Thank you!
I have looked at every notification from RUclips for weeks waiting for this video to come up! Finally!
Haha, I'm sorry it took so long!
@@Gabriellearrudadesign noo I'm glad it's finally up and worried if everything was okay :((

That intro OMFG!!!! Just a minute in and am like how can this get any better!!! Let’s gooo!
YAY, so glad you like it so far!
These videos are so much more helpful than the written versions for me! Thank you, this is so fun.
Glad it helped!
OMG FINALLYYYYYYY I can’t tell you how much I was looking forward to this video! It totally explained why I have such a hard time finding business clothes that look good on me. If you’re looking for video ideas after this series I would love a guide to gamine business wear and business casual.
I will try to include this somewhere in future content- maybe in one of my style guides!
This is so kind, and it's so rewarding to hear this feedback! Thank you so much!
I love the way you communicate your thoughts, and thank you for these videos. You've really gone above and beyond to show your ideas and the history. It's very helpful. Also love the way you speak about women, it's always very caring and thoughtful. This is a great space to learn
Lightning bolt x 10 for anticipated dramatic essence video. These videos are incredibly helpful. Thanks, Gabrielle!
I toyed with Ingenue as I look youthful for 46, but I’ve always known-deep down- that I’m far too naughty for that 😂
What a fantastic video, thank you.
I'm glad you liked it! And I love the gamine spunkiness!
Hello, i'm a kibbe romantic and have gamine essence, if you like we talk more about it because I'm lost
Me too
I’m the opposite, FG type with mostly romantic essence. Think Penelope Cruz. It’s so hard for me to blend the two together properly.
Saaame! body is exactly in the romantic lines, but it didn't feel right, I have a kind of tomboyish look and love to dress in a ful way, not in a "sexy pastel colourblend" way, and I felt that maybe it could mean I am soft gamine instead?
I just wanted to say that this video is a MASTERPIECE.
Thank you!! 😊😊
Omg! I have inky just started watching this video and it’s like you’ve nailed my essence if I were to be free to express myself; wholly; or….pre-marriage. Thank you! This explains the essence part of the whole Kibbe concept I’ve been trying to understand in regards to myself for over the past year! Thank you!❤
I have never felt so SEEN before 🥹thank you for this gorgeous video essay 🙏🏼
Ah so glad- makes me thrilled to hear this 🤗
⚡️⚡️ So excited for the final installment! I've been really enjoying your videos and appreciate all the time and effort you put into these!

LET'S GOOOO
This is the best gamine video I've seen! I somehow feel that I am Gamine to some level, but people very rarely include overweight examples. Thank you.❤❤
I remember waiting and waiting for your website to have more added on to it. You have always had great insight and are really good at communicating it to others. Ao glad I found your RUclips ❤
I appreciate all your hard work on this video, but I'm already HYPED for the Dramatics video. Thanks in advance!⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡

I’m so proud of how far ur videos have come! Love the creativity and content 🫶🫶
Thank you!! 🥰🤗
*Fabulous Intro* . I love seeing a new drop from you Gabrielle. Your content is off the hook!
Thank you so much! 🥰🥰
Actually I was verified as ingenue romantic and gamine 🙃 so I guess it’s really the gamine shining here
This was such a very thorough description, thank you so much!!!
You're so welcome!
I’m begging for a vid on the ideal lifestyles for all the types. They may not be practical but I would love to incorporate little aspects into my life
Thank you so much for these videos! They are so helpful. I am Kibbe’s flamboyant gamine but I never felt like gamine styles work for me. This video helped me confirm that I have a very small percentage of gamine (for my petiteness). I think I have bigger percentages of romantic and dramatic styles so now I know to experiment with those and see what fits me 😁
I think I'm kinda similar to youm
thank you for this! i notice that my fav style is "chic, playful, cute". i take inspiration from the 60s, some 2014 tumblr soft grunge (yes i grew up with tumblr lol) and coquette aesthetic.
so i think my essence is a blend of gamine with ingenue as well♡
Just found out I'm a Soft Classic body type with a Romantic, Ingenue, and Gamine Essence 🥰

Great video :D
Ah, I'm glad it helped clarify it for you! I was really hoping I could help with the distinction in this video
FINALLY!!! Thank you so much for the comprehensive take on gamine ❤️

Interesting!
im so fascinated because im told i have ingenue essence but i LOVE gamine essence… since i have a soft gamine body type i think it’s possible for me to pull off some of the ideas but i’ve definitely noticed how costume-y it can come off. im happy for the trend of lettuce hems coming back cause it can add some softer details to more gamine shapes. i’ve also been told i look a lot like zooey deschanel so ur take on her essence is illuminating bb
I'm so glad! 👏👏
I need you to burn this video into my neurons with a laser like I am a DVD
I really enjoyed this video. I am a Romantic-Ingenue looking for my 3rd essence. I think that it’s Natural, Gamine, or Dramatic. I have a little bit of Natural essence and I can identify with some of the Gamine essence (especially with the height portion) plus I loveee the fashion. Can’t wait for the Dramatic essence video! :)
Hopefully after the dramatic essence video comes out it can help you clarify it!
Your videos are so detailed and full of so much information! I can't even imagine how long they take to produce, but THANK YOU!!
I love that these systems exist, I’ve struggled with personal style for years 🫶🏽
Your personality traits for a gamine are literally hitting it right on the head for me personally. It’s a little scary how textbook I am! 😭😂
Ha, I know I felt bad making all the yang essences wait, but I hope it was worth it!!
This was a FANTASTIC video thank you! This is a huge game changer for me and I feel more beautiful having gamine in my blend and body ❤️
I'd love a video series about certain blends! These videos are very helpful!
@@Gabriellearrudadesign Thanks for the reply! That's really enlightening 😊
Cupids bow! The defined dips in lips! I was worried until the lips section, the beginning wasn’t me at all until that point.
Lightning bolt!!!! I'm glad you dropped this December first because I could not have spared the time during NaNo to watch it and I love your videos!
Great brands! And I’m working on dramatic now 🤗
Yes, I loved when she said, "enthusiastic" I was like "YES YES YES!!" lolol
I think these are all AMAZING traits and I think you should embrace them.
@@Gabriellearrudadesign thanks Gabrielle. This is so comprehensive! I appreciate the work you put into all of your videos and your sense of humor :)
