This is not Jake. Warren DeMartini is like George Lynch, unmistakable style.....When you hear them you know it's them......This is Warren DeMartini on guitar!
Yup its Warren and he and George were buds from way back and at some point the influence was visibly noticeable, but that ties into Georges technique and spirit not so much sound and taste. Warren was hard wired to the blues and George was just wired. How ever he influenced a bunch of guys in that bunk house of left coast hollywierd Ed shred and shreddy maniac guitar nuts. George was looking for his own bag of tricks, at times it seemed like he forgot how to be his self because of constantly reaching for so much outside the box. WHEN HE IS ON HE IS mR. SCARY, no question, but iv been baffled at what happens when he is frustrated by the gear or sound or what have you if things arent going his way most of what comes out is just strange and hard to watch or listen to. I may be describing myself more often than not, but my box is square and safe and basically ends up being Chuck Berry via self taught white kid from p town.
Jake is criminally underrated! He’s always been one of my favorite guitarist. His left hand acrobatics are insane. He is a world class player. Not only are his solos insane, his writing is creative and second to none. Both with Ozzy and Badlands he wrote some masterpieces. He is in my top 5 80’s players. Randy ( actually was the 70’s) Jake, Zakk, Slash and John Sykes are my top 5. Randy, Jake, Zakk, Slash and John Sykes are my top 5.
@@metalmike570 Randy is my all time favorite rock/metal player. People don’t realize he was playing like he did with Ozzy back in 1976. He and Eddie were contemporaries. To me, Randy was an all around better player. He was so creative, he was more knowledgeable about music theory and knew how to play to Ozzy’s strengths. He meshed classical guitar with rock and was a pioneer in Neo Classical guitar. No doubt, had he made it first, he would be a house hold name like Eddie is. I just wish Randy got more credit for what he did in such a short time. In 2 albums he changed rock forever.
@@jamesmccormick875 Well what I remember, and I'm from south Jersey but we were all into it. What I remember was Randy was about to get signed in Quiet Riot. Ozzy was auditioning at the time so Randy went for it... I guess it wasearly 1980. Kevin Dubrow was pissed about it, cause QR lost Randy, but they drafted Carlos Cavazo and Quiet Riot did awesome anyway, you know their early history with Metal Health. But you can say he played with Ozzy in 1976, but I don't see how. Ozzy was still in Black Sabbath until he was terminated in 1979. It's possible they jammed unofficially in the time period you mention but it's not really talked about. I was into this until I was 22, a hard rock bassist but I decided not to pursue it because it seemed tough to get successful. So in 1986 I hung it up but I know enough to start a channel on this stuff.
@@metalmike570 No, you’re right, he didn’t play with Ozzy in 76. He got with Ozzy in 79. What I was saying is he was playing the way he is known for as far back as 76. He was mixing classical with Rock in his solos. He was way ahead of his time.
Jake was no doubt one of the best in the 80’s! To be honest he was a pioneer in what became the 80’s guitar style. His use of inverted chords, triads etc, and the ability to write very technical songs and solos that were unique and ground breaking is always over shadowed by who he played for with Ozzy. He should be up there with Randy, Eddie, Hendrix and the other all time greats. It’s sad that he’s not. He has always been there in my book.
ok i have to say this is Warren playing not Jake - but Jake was the most awesomest guitarist , when i learned guitar as a teenager i just had to play all his stuff , the thing with Jake was he never had a boring note which is pretty rare - not many guitarists can do that - he was so creative .. stylish and unique which makes him top banana if you ask me
Great song... but no Jake on this recording. This is the classic line up of Ratt. Stephen Pearcy - lead vocals Robbin Crosby - lead & rhythm guitar, backing vocals Warren DeMartini - lead & rhythm guitar, backing vocals Juan Croucier - bass guitar, backing vocals Bobby Blotzer - drums, percussion, harmonica, washboard
That's right he did play with RATT but moved up to another band when the opportunity showed itself. I believe it was with Ozzie? Damn fine guitarist!!!
yeah, Jake was with Ratt in the early days, I heard that Jake didn't want to share guitar duties, and that he only wanted to be the only guitar player, so I guess Jake had Warren tried out, or I think it was Stephen got a hold of Warren, Jake and Warren were room mates at one time. :)
@@rattsjcfanpage01 yeah I think Jake played shows in Europe with Ozzy in 1982 after the speak of the devil tour or something then in 83 he made his big debut at the US festival

I can agree, this has the same beat as “Lay it down”, so it was probably a song that was cut from the “Invasion of your privacy” album track list.

HIs recordings and especially with Ozzy will keep being made for anyone that wants to buy them. Else they can rock out here on RUclips for free.
Jake with Warren would be phenomenal !

Lot of Jake lovers commenting on this, this is 100% Warren. Jake and Warren are two of my favorites and both have their own unmistakable style.

Not a fan of the band at all, but were they ever in it at the same time?, that would have made some great guitar duels.
