Adam Ondra #6: Tokyo Training Trip 2/2

- This episode is the second part of Tokyo training trip. After a couple of days, I got rid of jet-lag and I had some of the most enjoyable training sessions I remember in a long time. Training with some of the best members of Japanese team was most of all great fun. They are really easy-going, but at the same time, I learnt a lot and trained hard. The most important was the quality of the problems - the routesetters take a LOT of time and care to make their boulder problems perfect - which means tricky, complex, powerful and technical at the same time, without possibility of cheating. It is really mind-blowing.
I might have expected more parkour style but problems were still dynamic and required possibly even more precision and coordination than average World cup boulders. Thanks for the lessons, Japan!

Scrolls down to see if there was a comment about the music. Oh, there was.
5:00 Saving it on your harddrive?
Adam finally admits he is a cyborg. I knew it! :D
He must be an older model when he still has a harddrive.
I loved the ending with the timer...such a tiny, yet powerful detail. Good look in Tokio to you!
Such an inspiration for me, my climbing has increased loads from you Adam
Great to hear Adam's perspective on climbing culture in Japan. Looked like some really fun sessions. Great video!
Adam, your videos are getting so much better. I appreciate the talk to cameras, like breakfast, and the voice overs. I don't know what is helping this story-telling growth but keep it up!
And again, a such good episode! Hopefully it will be like this untill tokyo :D
No shout out to Jain Kim? She’s a legend!
SEAN MCCOLL! Please make more yt videos man! Loved your content years ago.

Such an awesome serie
this series is EPIC
What if they played this music in the background of free solo during the ascent haha
Someone needs to do an edit of that for sure.
@@thorna100 what the name of the music pls?
>watches dude climb crazy ass boulders one could only dream of sending them self
>complains about music
Dat background music 🙈 Next video plz with "Live To Win" 😜
I feel bad Miho wasn't able to be there with her shoulder injury.
I first though training 6 hours is to long and my skin would not be able to do this.
But when you do many conditions boulders where you first have to figure so much out and give many tryings for one move, you dont get tired so fast.
Great video! What’s the intro song?
Sean McColl just gets "professional climber"??? More like a god damn legend of the sport...
Sean McColl is an ass-man.
I dont know that guy Sean McColl .. never watched climbing tbh and never climbed, but i am from czech and Adam Ondra is the fuckng legend so I started ! :-)
Inspirational video with a good music selection (no sarcasm). Thanks.
Adam discovered volume over intensity ! No screaming necessary...
lets go
Man, I'm starting to believe natural endurance this is the big differentiator between people who climb really well and people who are merely okay or good -- not crazy innate flexibility, power, or crimping, or even body awareness, just the ability to accumulate tons of climbing time and stay healthy (plus, of course, stay motivated and happy). Keenan Takahashi mentioned on Hardclimbs that in his first year climbing he did a V10, but also that he climbed 6-7 hours a day, 6-7 days a week.
zoaxanthellae interesting thoughts. It seems like it’d be impossible for a normal person to climb that much, so soon, and at such high intensity without injury from overuse.
6h is common?! That endurance standard
what gym is this?
Imho, this super dynamic "new school" of INDOOR bouldering is closer to Parkour then it is to climbing..not a huge fun to be completely honest =/ but you know, it makes for popular clips on Instagram =( in any case, love your videos! HUGE FAN!
at one level i agree, but at the very top level some of the boulder problems are truly beautiful. as long as they're not compromising difficulty for flashiness i can dig!
@drew13600 exactly, but for me that is kind of sad..and again, basically parkour ;D
I think Adam does a great job of explaining how fan interest and watchability is pushing to jumping frog bouldering. As Adam says, a climber can redo a coordination problem 5 or 6 times in a 4 minute period. In power-up or power endurance, the boulderer can really only do it once if the route is pushing them to failure. It's a more Ninja Warrior approach to bouldering for entertainment value.
In addition climbers are now becoming so strong that its really hard to set powerful routes that provide good separation among climbers. For the dynamic boulders even if its physically easier, its a lot trickier to get it right in 4 minutes and is a much better separator.
I really think he should be starting his morning with lucky charms. :/
was that sean mcall
where are the Ondra power screams?!?!?
Those are for long redpoints.
Yeah I guess....but still....dude screams like a monster
..@@@shoetree ....and climbs like one!
I do not understand lead climbers who fall off without a sound. They left some energy on the table.

@drew13600 it would be like a women's doubles match at Wimbledon
like supermen

4:40 japanese girls are so beautiful..
