@@fiercyy the problem is the 3DS is basically a consule from the past it was discontinued and you can’t get 3DS games at let’s just say Walmart or most retail stores as for switch games you could pretty much get them at retail stores and on Nintendo‘s E shop store to be honest I feel like Nintendo is going to drop a big Mario game or remake this year. After all, they did say the June direct will have some of the last switch games. Hopefully it’s a remake of a mainline Mario game. Because we ate good last year.

All 3DS games over where i live at when they released were always $30, there were a rare few games that launched with a $40 price tag on them
Yo do realize that 3Ds and Switch’s Prices aren’t gonna be the same, and Nintendo has to make money one way or another (and I’m not saying this only for The Nintendo Company, but for technically all Gaming Companies.). (and I’m only talking about the Making Money part if somebody is confused.). But I get what your saying overall, but at least it’s not 70.00$ for a game like JJKCC (which was a trash fighting game).
You know what’s crazy. Mainline 3DS games were $19.99 and then a few years later they rose to $39.99 for the newer ones. Before the eshop closed you could see the cheap 3DS games compared to the expensive ones cause they never changed the price from the original

I’m not bothered about the price when it comes to having the urge to play a game I used to love as a kid again. And in better graphics. And now that I’m older 100%’ing the game is actually something you aim to do, whereas when you’re a kid you’re just having fun.

I want Luigi's Mansion (2001) remastered on the switch.
The switch is eight years old already, I'd wait until the next console is released before wishing for a remaster of Luigi's Mansion 2001. 🤓

To be fair if they had added new content to it then maybe I could reasonably see why it's 60 but since it is just a HD port of it I would say it should cost at 30 maybe even 40 but not 60
Nintendo knows its going to sell assloads with even the most minimum of effort. They have no incentive to provide anything more when it will sell just as well regardless.
I'm honestly surprised it isn't just a straight 3DS port, with the same 240p resolution, but with all extra modes cut out. And $70.
Metroid Prime Remaster was an anomaly from Nintendo, as it featured entirely revamped modern graphics and control options, and only cost $40.
But I guess Metroid isn't Mario, Zelda, Donkey Kong, or Pokemon, so Nintendo doesn't have any faith in it. Probaboy why they waited like two years just to release Prime Remastered, when it had been completed a long time ago.
It would be worth it if it brings also the first one remastered

They had to recreate Luigi’s mansion Dark Moon/2 from scratch, you can’t just, port a 3DS game to switch, it doesn’t work like that

Fun fact: It’s called Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD because in Germany (and some other countries but I’m not sure) the 3Ds version is called Luigi’s mansion 2 and not dark moon

When has nintendo ever done this? If it would come with the first game, they would have said so already. Before bayo 2 came out, we all knew it would come with the first game as well. Dont worry. The first game will come, just at a later date. Be prepared to pay 40-60 bucks too.

Nah, if they ever decide to remaster the first game you can bet your ass it will be a standalone game for $60. Maybe even $70 if it's on the 'Switch 2'.
(And the graphics will just be the 3DS port in HD. That's all you get!)
Damn I miss when I could get a new game for $40. That was one of my favorite things about the 3ds when I was in college and broke af.
When they charge $60 full price for a port of an old ass game from over a decade ago (when the original cost less than that when it first released) and barely improve the graphics outside of cranking up the resolution, you know you'll never again see a first party Nintendo game for $40 ever again.
Unless it's Metroid Prime Remastered, which is ironically the most effort put into any of their 'remasters', and only cost $40. But then again, Metroid isn't Mario, Zelda, Donkey Kong, or Pokémon, so Nintendo has zero faith in the IP. Either that or it was a mistake on their part and they simply never noticed or tried to fix it because, well, it isn't Mario, Zelda, Donkey Kong, or Pokémon.

this game because it started its fame but playing it on the 3DS it was perfect
As much as I dislike that price, to me it’s so worth it to replay this game I missed it so much and also not a lot of people had the 3DS so it be new to them i guess
My kid and I are playing it now and its a lot of fun.
They literally missed the chance to add 1 and make it into a bundle. Making the price more justified.

As someone who’s favorite Luigi’s mansion is dark moon, I don’t care for the price and u don’t care that I still have my 3ds version, I’m buying it and no one’s stopping me
This is why I haven't bought a non-indie Switch game in 4 years :/ $60 in the US, $80 here in Canada (before tax)... for a remake.

It's not a good comparison even if you are a graphics snob. Dark Moon ran at 480p at an uncapped frame rate. The Switch Remake from what we've seen dips way below 30 and only outputs 720p which isn't even considered HD anymore.

All I want is for 3DS players to be able to play with the switch players on scarescraper. The scarescraper was honestly SO fun and you can’t find anyone to play with on the 3DS version anymore.
Dark Moon is by far my favorite game in the series so far. I'm super excited for when it comes out

I’m ready to play the online mode again. Recently Nintendo took down the online services for the 3ds. So being able to play Scare scraper again will be fun!

It’s worth it for me since it’s one of my favorite 3DS games and I vastly prefer playing games with a standard controller on my TV. But given its simplicity as basic remaster, I can see why others think it’s overpriced.

@AntolaRes yeah they do, it's just rare for it to happen. Keep an eye out, over the last couple of years they've been occasionally putting mario games on sale. Sure, it may not be a 50% off sale, but it's better than spending $60 on a game that isn't worth $60 lol
I didn't get this because I only liked the first Luigi's mansion, but the paper Mario remake and the Mario rpg remakes were fucking fantastic. So hopefully this remake is a good one for you guys as well

Those graphics were not crusty at all in a handheld back in 2013

Honestly, I find the crusty 3ds graphics make the game more charming

I hope they just port the original Luigi’s mansion and not remaster it cause the first game has a very different vibe then the other two games and feels closer to a horror game than a Mario game, and if they remaster it they might try to modernize it and make it not scary for little kids.
It's just a remake in all fairness it feels more like a 30-40 type of deal! The only time I'd say it deserves maybe a 50-60 full price is if the scarescraper servers actually run competently! But it can then be debated that you already have to pay for the online services nowadays anyway! X_X

It was titled "Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon" only in the US, and "Luigi's Mansion 2" in Japan, Australia and Europe. Hence "Luigi's Mansion 2 HD."
