the butler from the first game was the scariest ghost for me when i was younger, it might have been the strange noises he makes or his erratic movements, he was just unsettling
Is the butler ghost in Luigi's Mansion 1 or 2?

With Luigi's Mansion 1, I think the game achieves a certain baseline spookiness with its portrait ghosts that comes in part from it playing up the simple presence of a ghost as being uncanny. The ghosts don't even have to be disturbing-looking or doing anything hostile necessarily, just the fact that the soul of a dead person is present and repeatedly emulating some behavior it did in life.
I'd say the way that they kind of disappear at times adds to this. Also, ironically, the fact that they kind of ignore you also adds to the spookiness. They're only half-there, and again, doing a rote imitation of some behavior they did in life.
I think in this sense it actually captures, perhaps, the experience of going to a place that is rumored to be haunted. Even if you believe in ghosts, you don't expect a ghost to just pop out and chat casually with you. You expect to see something in the corner of your eye.
An example of something similar in Luigi's Mansion 1 is the ghost that drops the key. The subtle presence of the ghost just kind of dropping it is, in and of itself, a bit spooky.
I think everything you just described is what made them more creepy then lm3 did. I liked that everything wasn’t some elaborate drawn out sequence of events but instead you just find them and observe their routine. It very much reminds me of the same experience in the Disney haunted mansion ride. I feel Luigi’s mansion 1 really captured the essence of that ride.
I agree, and I think the only thing in 2 that achieves a similar level of creepiness in 2 is THOSE DARN ARMOR STANDS!!!
Melody is also creepy when you say a wrong answer. She's been pretty friendly so far, but if you pick the wrong answer she just loses it and starts banging the piano keys angrily yelling "No! No! No!"
When I was a little kid and I got the answer wrong, I got so terrified when this happened 😭
Nothing more terrifying than seeing Chauncey holding a knife, instead of his rattle in the thumbnail.
Someone has the power to give you 50 likes and I gave you a reply, your welcome :)
The ghosts from the first game that drop down from the ceiling were the scariest for me, something about being chased while they made that awful noise gave me nightmares as a child
Oh boy. You want to up the scare factor in Luigi's Mansion 1? There's a mod for the Gamecube version that changes your perspective from 3rd person to first person, along with some changes to make that sort of gameplay easier. You'd be surprised just how much scarier that game is if you're playing from Luigi's perspective.
Do you know what’s it called I would love to play it
The scariest boss ghost for me has to be Bogmire I mean compared to all the other portrait ghost Bogmire has a creepy design and the fact that he's a product of the mansions fear and despair makes his existence a lot more disturbing
He only scared me during my first time playing, when he ascends from the ground in the cutscene
The buildup to Ug is why it should be up higher. The lightning strikes so hard that it shakes the whole floor, and so brightly it allows the T-rex to move before it fades away. And by intimidation, it dwarfs most bosses in 3 easily. And don’t even get me started on when he breaks loose.
Putting myself in the position Luigi is in the giant knight would give me a goddamn TERRIFIED. He could probably just flick his finger at me and the wind would rip me off the floor down into the void
Luigi's Mansion 1 is the only game to actually feel creepy. 2 and 3 felt more lighthearted in comparison.
Maybe because kids saw the first and thought, “Oh Luigi cool! This must be for young kids like meee!” So they made the game a bit more kiddy. My 10 year old friend got nightmares from the ghosts in 1 once.
@@Lemoninacup-b9fIt’s mostly because the original was a team from Nintendo themselves, while the sequels were made by a Canadian studio that simply made them too kiddy.

Melody Piantissimo? 😂
Melody Pianissima 👍🏻
I guess that’s one way to include a Sunshine reference.
The baby ghost from the first game it actually scared me the first time I played the game thanks
That baby's name Chauncey :3
It had me frozen in fear, I couldn't even pick up the TV remote to click on another video.
How I can play Luigi's Mansion 1 without even to have the Gamecube?
@@Leopez02 Nintendo ported it to the 3DS
Same, I was terrified of baby Chauncey.
I feel like the clock tower would be scarier in real life especially when the hands are heated later in the battle and the fact that they could knock you down at anytime when they spin around (heck, they could even cut you in half for all we know especially when they're heated).
The only one who is afraid of the clock is yellow toad
Exactly
LOL TRUE
Clem was the boss that I had the most trouble with during my play through of Luigi’s Mansion 3. Also, Nicky, Lindsey and Ginney scrambling up the rooms on the floor are also why Magician’s parlor was my favorite floor in the game.
Oh I had the most trouble with Clem too, man that Boss fight is was hard!
Same here! Plus Magician's Parlor is one of the favorite floor themes in the game!
@@Leopez02who was clam? I am not from usa so i had another name for the bosses
That floor was by far my favourite becuse of the way they interact with you throughout, especially the section that resembles the blackout from the first game
@@Blockyking1 Clem was the pink-skinned, blond-haired mechanic in the boilerworks. You can see him at about 3:22 in this video.
There's one "Boss" I would say fits in none of the categories. Polterpup from Luigi's Mansion 2. Would put him in: Awww he's cute!
I love that cute little dog!
Ranking the five possessor ghosts because he was kind of wrong.
5- Clock. obviously.
4-Stairs. there not scary at all.
3- The Spider. Scary if you have arachnophobia.
Now, were down the final 2, These 2 are ABSOLUTLEY terrifying, but one had to come out on top.
2- Chilly ride. Imagine your luigi in this scenario. you have to kill something that's going farther and farther away, slowly getting hotter in your vehicle. the stress of being on a limit before you explode. However, its not number one because if i was luigi, i would kind of be having fun, its like a roller coaster.
1- The Suit of armor. Its not scary until you get to its third phase. Imagine being luigi in this situation... the entire fate of the world rest in your hands.. you might never come back and then the ghost possesses A GIGANTIC SUIT OF ARMOR, WITH ONE GOAL. HE WANTS. YOU. DEAD. HE LITERALLY STOMPS THE FLOOR TO CRUSH YOU, but he neglected to avoid the carpets. but i would literally be stressing out. im shocked he put this one at "spooky" , not to mention your in an entire different dimension.
in 3 King boo is at his scariest for luigi. Not because he's trying to scare or torture luigi, King boo just wants the green plumber MURDERED!
Wasn’t that 2’s king boo though?
@timcellar9021 Dark Moon's King Boo was workin behind the scenes the entire game, but in 3 he straight up goes on the attack before you even get the Poltergust
@@PhoneyHat I guess you have a point but, getting trapped in a painting feels less dire then actually getting killed like in dark moon.
For me, the spider boss would be scary. I have a fear of spiders so seeing that IRL would be terrifying
How about in the next video, you should rank every room in Luigi's Mansion 1, 2 and 3 from not scary to scariest!!!!!
Mr. Luggs isn't scary appearance wise, but he shoots fireballs at you, and if your hit, you're stunned enough for him to hit you again. also the cramped dining room with the extremely large table makes him much harder to dodge.
Then again, he ate himself to death - and still wanted more!
I think the scariest bosses are the child ghosts. Not for their battles(ok, maybe for Chauncey and the triplets), but rather for the fact that they are children and the realization they most likely had horrible deaths(or just straight up died in their sleep or as a stillborn) is horrific. It makes you want to scoop them all up and hug them, give them candy, wrap them blankets and let them watch happy movies like the original Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.
Chauncey was born a ghost, so he didn't
@@descrates3545 there’s a picture of him alive in his nursery though, which is odd.
1:20: Really? (50 - 41)
5:40: Not Scary (40 - 24)
12:54: Spooky (23 - 17)
17:24: Pretty Scary (16 - 10)
21:41: Terrifying (9 - 5)
25:11: Nightmare (4 - 1)
30:20: Final List
29:12 Do not question the power of little ghost girls in horror games.
The fact that the Nightmare tier starts off with Mr Luggs reminds me of that one video where they call a sea cucumber a "Horrifying monster of the ocean"
Well he was the scariest ghost to me when I was younger.
Augh! Old people! You should have put a warning, im gonna be pissing and shitting for the rest of the year out of fear!!!
That's a great list. While I loved Luigi's Mansion 3 and a lot of ghosts and floors were great, some were a little bit too silly and were not doing justice to the haunted theme in my opinion. I think the game needs to keep the adventure aspect of Luigi's Mansion 3, and it shouldn't be as dark as the first one, but they need to tone down the light a little bit, the game was sometimes a bit too bright, and it's hard to feel like you are in a haunted hotel when there is light all around. I also like the more personal and a little dramatic aspect of the ghosts in the first game. I think the next game should try something in between the first and the third game, learn from both, and maybe from 2 as well, with multiple mansions, as in a village for example. Luigi's Mansion 4 : the haunted village.
The baby ghost 👻 scared me the most as a kid. The little girl ghost is pretty creepy too. What’s scariest about them though is the fact that as you said they are actually the spirits of a dead baby and little girl which is pretty dark making Luigi’s Mansion surely the darkest Nintendo game ever made.
I can’t remember if any bosses scarred me since I played Luigi mansion, dark moon as a kid but since I was older when Luigi mansion 3 came out, I actually enjoy some of the bosses in that game
Henry and Orville are based on Henry ford the creator of the ford car and Orville wright inventor of the plane.
Bogmire should've been number 1 cus it's supposed to be the depiction of the Mansion's despair and Fear
The listing has less to do with how scary the characters are in themselves and more how Nin10doland feels they’re executed.
I mean if it was me in that spot. I am sure many shadows of a being not at all human like would be terrifying.
Agreed
You forgot Strong Poltergeist. I would put him at the top of “not scary”.
Better question, what’s the scariest pokemon?
I personally found the Butler to be hilarious. He also appeared to be scared of Luigi, and sits on his own fire like a bafoon. Sue Pea will haunt my nightmares for years to come though
I agree
"Old people just scare me" 😅 okay then lol. But that is a common trope in horror movies.
To me kids as ghosts though is more sad than scary. As.. That means these young children died pretty prematurely. And probably undeservedly so..
I Don’t think Slim Bankshot is Scary insted he’s just lonely and he just wanted to play with a Friend and I think the Creepy part is that he played alone for 29 Years with no friends
I agree he’s also a fave of mine
For me the toy soldiers will always be scary cause going into that room and it being quiet then all of a sudden these big soldier men start charging and shouting at me and with little to no music indicating that they are bosses was so creepy but for atmosphere creepiness it goes to boolasus cause dam was her scary and then the lighting strikes and there is no power all of that was super scary
With Luigi's fighting experience, I'm sure Luigi will defeat that ghost
3:24 I really thought Clem was goofy looking and made funny hillbilly ghost noises
Butler was scariest his noises and his face is just really scary
Casoh is definitely a nightmare boss
It took me watching this video to realize what felt off about Luigi's Mansion 3's boss ghosts' designs, even though you never bring it up. It's the fact they don't have ears.
I’m a say Nothing in The LM series
But…

Or that stupid ice face
"Old people scare me" - Nin10doland
The scariest one to me is the one that just GRABS YOUUU omggg
I have never played luigi's mansion (any of hem but i know the 3rd)
But the 1st is absolutely horrifying, not because the sfx, or the models, its because the lore of the ghosts, (i'm sorry i dont know the ghosts names but ill try to tell the most seeable/known thing of them)
The fat guy, he died TRYING TO EAT HIMSELF
Buff dude, he died trying to lift a dumbell but it fell on him
The baby, oh god i dont even want to know (same with the twins)
The dancing pair i'm pretty sure died while together
Shivers, idk, he probably died stuck in the freezer, his name says so
They toy soldiers absolutely terrified me as a kid, but that also could've been how difficult the fight is. But Chauncey is definitely scary, and has the best atmosphere of any boss ghost
I think ms. petunia was supposed to be a reference to ms. Piggy from the Muppets
Luigi’s Mansion 1 gets carried hard by its amazing atmosphere. Like no LM game its going to be scary at all, but 1 is the only one were the atmosphere helps the mood really really well. A shame the sequels are simply too cutesy to recapture that amazing mood the original Luigi’s Mansion had.
The fact that a Giant Baby Ghost is scarier than a creepy eldritch entity that is the literal manifestation of the Mansion's fear and despair amuses me to which is something I strongly disagree with even a little girl that died in her sleep at a criminally young age is unable to top something as nightmarish as Bogmire
23:47 This Scene right here is why I want to see a Fanfic where Mario, Peach and Bowser get to watch the Luigi's Mansion Series and react to it.
Luigi’s Mansion 1’s battle music was absolutely terrifying to 6yo me 🙈
for me i didnt play the first two but i played the third one and, personally, its the owner of the hotel (i always forget her name) not only is it the fact that she doesnt face you in person, but the wrinkles on her and her design in general. also its the lasers and the fact she seems so unsettling.
Personally, I think sue pea is terrifying. That background music that plays as she’s talking to you in her sleep just gives me the shivers.
Baby Chauncey really is terrifying. I bet a lot of kids probably didn't press on to the next chapter after seeing that. Or even actually fought him.
25:52 bro predicted caseoh
Chauncey used to scare me as a kid, the scream face that he makes kinda creeped me out.
That is the possessor bruh 14:01
honestly every ghost from the first one. But if I had to pick one, it be the one's with the scary backstory's which is the dog from the first one.
Honestly, compared to the sequels, everything about the first Luigi’s mansion was scary. As a matter of fact, if one ever played the GameCube version, they’d see the difference in the level of horror including the beta version of a game over in the first one.
For me, Clem was the scariest ghost out of them all. He actually could have drowned Luigi. And I’m not usually scared of many video games, but this really threatened me. I actually thought Luigi would drown.
I personally think that the Godzilla ghost would be more scared of you. Imagine if you're shooting a film and your co-actor starts attacking you
Luigi's mansion 1 is easily the scariest for me because when I played it I was little and easily scared
I havent played Luigis mansion yet but when I was a bit younger I watched a video of the Bowser boss ans I was traumatized of the bBowser head detached off his body 💀
15:25 When I played the boss fight of Ug, he never scared me, but when he was possessing the T-Rex skeleton, it was very scary
Chauncey gave me actual nightmares as a kid with his cry and id think id be scared of the chef too because of his roar and how wide his mouth opens up
Hot take: Clem’s fight wasn’t actually hard or annoying
20:19 is it me or does Nana sound like Gruntilda from Banjo-Kazooie?
I'd say that most of the original Luigi's Mansion ghosts are much creepier than the sequels because of the doll-like effect. Most of them are very minimalistic with their facial expressions and you rarely look at them from up close. In later games they are much more detailed and expressive and I think it naturally removes a lot of the creepiness and makes them feel *too* alive.
Bro for some reason the thing that scared me wasn’t even the boss fights or ghost’s It was the death secuence from Luigi’s mansion 1 you the cutscene where Luigi looks all distorted and weird idk it just gave me nightmares when I was younger
Bogmire should've been a Nightmare Ghost or Terrifying at the very least
The scariesr boss for me in LM3 is Clem, he's country and he's crazy, if you've seen Bunny Massacare then this guy will give you a terrifying vibe.
Now imagine these ghosts in Mostropolis from Monsters Inc
For me the three sisters from Luigi's mansion 2 were one of the most scary ghosts in the game, but the scariest were absolutely the mummies in the old clock factory 😭😭
I wouldn’t say there is anything scary in the Luigi’s Mansion games but I would categorize it as startling. But to be fair if I had to go through what Luigi has gone through in these games I would be scared too
I haven’t played the game but I’ve watched a ton of Playthru’s and the cat gave me nightmares the way become so scary just like yikes
That cat is nightmare fuel - and her owner is too.
9:20 To be Honest, I would have expected these 3 to be more like Morty in that there goal was to Entertain others so I was surprised that they were actually Hostile.
When I was younger like 5-6 ish I couldn’t even watch the some of the battles from the first game when I would watch my friend play it and when the baby battle happened I had to leave the room and hide…. That baby’s cry still makes my blood run cold
I noticed that a lot of the normal ghosts that you fight in Luigi's Mansion 3 look a lot more irregular than the ones fought in Luigi's Mansion 2. I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo is slowly taking our feedback on this and by the time of Luigi's Mansion 4 or 5, we end up with regular ghost designs that resemble those of the first game's more.
Water polo balls😂
I feel like luigis mansion 1 has some of the most memorable, but I have no clue if that's from game design or just the fact I've seen/played several playthroughs of it, meanwhile I've only played dark moon and 3 once
💀 I thought It was the strong poltergeist in #1 scary
Luigi’s mansion had different vibes because the graphics were not good
Bogmire got done so dirty
I don't have aracniphobia, but when the spiders crawl on the screen in 3d it's scary
Can you do a rank of every Bowser Jr. fight?
Chauncey number one. He "was born a ghost", aka died as a baby I believe, is cited as being scarier than his elder siblings by his parents, and actually has the power to do serious harm to you unlike Sue Pea. He is a Boss Ghost after all.
The baby Chauncey has a war cry before you fight him. It sounded like he was saying my name “ADAM ADAM ADAM” My 5 year old self had to turn the game off.
I remember when I was first playing luigis mansion 3 the first trapper ghost in the green house part scared me
I personally like how scary King Boo is in Luigi's mansion 3 and the fact it was released on Halloween made it more fitting. I feel that Nintendo went all out with making him more threatening to the point that even the game over screen looks terrifying😊
For sure. And I think 3 was one of the first times we see him were he ISN'T smiling. He was already creepy when he had that permanent grin. But in 3, there are several times where he just looks flat out pissed off, and that really upped the creepiness factor for me.
You should probably make a boss ranking list of toughest bosses of all time of Luigi's mansion part 2 HD
Nin10doland what music do you use for you intro pls
The theme from Nintendo Land (Wii U game).
@@AarturoSc thx so much
Fun fact: The twins are named after famous people relating to their vehicles. Henry, in a car, is named after Henry Ford, while Orville, in a plane, is named after Orville Wright.
My younger self would say the bats from the intro scene in Luigi’s mansion 2
The twins are actually a reference to Henry Ford (the kid in the car) and Orville Wright (the kid in the plane).
Personally I don’t see Sue Pea, King Boo or Chauncey as scary. In fact, I personally believe Wolfgeist is scarier.
But hey, it’s just your opinion.
Fr wolfgeist brings back M64 piano memories
I guess if we were ever in Luigi's shoes, we would try very hard not to faint or wet our pants
King boo in 3 literally surpasses every ghost in terms of scariness (apart from captain fishhook). His glowing purple eyes unsettle me the more I look at it, his fangs look more creepy, and his evil glare makes me wet my pants.
As a kid I actually found the buff ghost in LM1 scary like first I just found his voice weird and unsettling but then when I triggered him I didn’t know what to do as he comes flailing his arms at me. What’s worse if you leave the room he’s stays in that angry state. It’s obvious what you had to do but as a kid I was scared. I thought the grandma was creepy too and dont get me started about the butler screaming down the hall.
My only disagreements are having Big Boo and Melody so high when they should be lower while Bogmire should have definitely gone in Terrifying. His entire presence stands out as something so much more ominous than the other portrait ghosts, as if he's some kind of embodiment of death, hence why he haunts the graveyard.
