      I've now used it on my Sexton bass (with active pickups) and works fine both direct to amp and via the foot pedal. No appreciable loss of tone and far more convenient than the AKG Pro40 PT radio based system I've been using for the past 7 years. Bought another set for my daughter who has used it her SG, Telecaster and Martin semi-acoustic and she is highly delighted. The acid test will be when we play together (once we're allowed to!) to see if there is any interference.

      Hmm, on Amazon they specifically state: "NOTE: DO NOT Recommended to Use for Battery Powered Guitars."
      Update: On Amazon for the WestShell version of this (which is identical also), in the comments one of their reps also states "not recommended for active pickups"

    • @toadhall1951

      @@squidly2112 This is all a bit odd. I've just reviewed the Amazon page and cannot find this reference to active pickups. I can assure that it works just fine in both my bass guitars with active pickups. I'm in the UK - perhaps there is a different script for their page aimed at other countries.

    I purchased the Lekato WS70 about a year and a half ago and they have worked flawlessly on a nightly basis! Only one time, the system seemed to lock up, wouldn't pair and would not turn off. I merely had to let the battery run down and then after recharging all was back to normal and has been ever since! I also bought the Lekato 2.4 ghz system that has the interchangeable 3.5 mm stereo and 1/4" mono adapters and it also works perfectly and does seem to actually handle stereo well!

  • @Dead-Eye

    Your videos on these have been really helpful, so thanks very much.
    I play mandolin in an acoustic band and I use the Lakato system you reviewed in this video and the Lakato 5.8gHz one (which is the same shape as the Ammoon one you showed here). I also use them at home and at jams for electric guitar. They work great and, as you say, are a really cheap way to have a backup in case one band is too crowded.
    I may get a 2.4 gig set as well, although where I live in the UK both times I've tried 2.4 it was less reliable than the UHF and the 5.8.
    Anyway, thanks for the informative content. It's been a help.

    I have two sets of the Getaria units you show in this video. They have never let me down one time. One thing I found I really love about them is the transmitter is black and the receiver is gray. No guessing or trying to stop and read it. Both sets work fine with active guitar and bass pickups and regular single coils and humbuckers. I also just bought this Lekato set because of the shape of the connector. I have an Ibanez SRC6 that I am hoping it will fit. The jacks in the Ibanez guitars and basses is an odd shape. That thin neck on the Lekato looks like it may be perfect.

    Excellent review. I snagged one of these this past week and have been testing it out at home. So far, it has performed flawlessly using it on a couple of my basses (both passive) into my 50W practice amp. About the only thing I noticed vs a cable is a very slight reduction in volume. I have an early morning sound check at church tomorrow and will test it out in that environment to see how it acts around the wireless mics and IEMs.

    Alright I bought this one to go with my SWIFF AUDIO WS-50, which works great that I bought on you'r recommendation. Happy as hell yo lose the cord. I'm a rock & roll legend in my basement still going at 67 . I like I can be further away from the amp which changes how I hear my sound. I have 3 amps (1 practise for the bedroom) the cordless is so liberating. I have an old (1 of the 1st) economical wireless, amp input needs to be plugged in with the tx in a pouch on the neck strap (bedroom). Boy what an improvement!

    I've had the Lekato WS-70 now for 24 hours. To my ears the WS-70, or more specifically the particular WS-70 I have, rolls off the low end a bit. I also have the Lekato WS-60 (2.4G) and WS-50 (5.8G) and Nux B-5RC (2.4G) and C-5RC (5.8G). All four of those are great. I use them daily for practices, rehearsals, small solo and trio gigs - I take my Sennheiser G4 to the big gigs. I'm using these on bass and tonight I swapped back and forth between the WS-70s and WS-50s and I'm convinced (convinced myself anyway) I can hear a low end thinness. I know words without a RTA screenshot is only worth the electrons this comment floated in on, but FWIW it's one man's data point. I actually like the WS-70. I think I may still keep it. Just not use it on bass.

I got to the second amp and just said, man I can't do this. You play on any decent amp for 2 minutes and it's going to sound fine. After that I can't tell any more. Really appreciate the time you take in doing these gear reviews. Just got my 1st set based on these reviews (the UHF version). Cool they were already fully charged right out of the box. Wandered around the house no problem. What I did notice was not a loss in volume or tone but there is no where near the amount of sustain you get with direct cable. Can't "ride" a note the same way you can with a cable. So for the users that want that, keep that in mind. Even with amp volume turned up,ni couldn't get the sustain/feedback. Must be something in the way it transmits or ??? Still, for less than $40, it's a fairly usable unit. I have a 5.8ghz set on the way. Anxious to see if the sustain is improved at that frequency

    • @ScottUhlMusic
      @ScottUhlMusic  2 года назад +3

      This is the one system that I remember at one show I really noticed the sustain issue. It’s really bizarre that I only noticed it that one time… we did a gig in Miami, and I noticed it. That was the only time. Really weird. But I’m willing to bet no one else noticed haha.
      And thank you! Thank you for being able to realize “hey, for $40 this unit is great.” It’s so refreshing to see common sense instead of the comments saying “why can’t I go 1000 ft with this $40 wireless?!?” 😅 Just wanted to say thank you for that!

    • @doughayes9141
      @doughayes9141 2 года назад

      @@ScottUhlMusic I know a couple players that the sustain would be an issue, but for me, that's not my thing although it's fun from time to time. I'm more fingerstyle and rhythm so it fills the need. Haven't tried the acoustic yet. Curious how it would be into a DI (if you know?).
      And common sense isn't common anymore! Instant gratification and high expectations are, unfortunately, the norm.
      I enjoy the vids... I'll smash the subscribe button. Thanks for doing what you do...

    • @ScottUhlMusic
      @ScottUhlMusic  2 года назад +1

Same company (domo arigato Mr Lekato... couldn't help myself! )... the UHF is crazy good at $40 and I have no intention of letting it go but the extra $20 for the 5.8 unit was worth it (to me). Others may have a different experience. No noticeable loss of volume and tone is always subjective. I think these are a really good buy and I completely agree with your advice... get one each so there is a backup. You're still ahead having 3 units at $150.

    Anyone in the UK who wants to buy this - beware. There's only two small windows of frequencies other than 2.4GHz and 5.8GHz that is unregulated, and those are 173.8MHz to 175.0MHz and 863 to 865 MHz. Stick with 2.4GHz or 5.8GHz for a cheapie, as a fine for operating outside the unregulated windows would make this and the Swiff quite costly. Thanks for the original cheap wireless review - I've got a Line 6 G50 and a Smoothhound, and a while ago got the Muslady branded equivalent of the Getaria 2.4GHz for rehearsals, and it's been great. It was good to hear a tone comparison between the cheapies and against a cable.

    I finally can write a opinion of the Swiff 70 with my violin.
    The transmitter works flawlessly, no stutters, easy to just plug and play.
    About timbre: these have some roll off on the bass side. Nothing drastic and helps get rid of some sub bass.
    Two things I got to consider, the sustain is reduced, when compared to a cable. It's really difficult to get feedback with the transmitters. This can be good or bad.
    Other thing, and related to above, the units have some gate going. For some reason, when playing a forte pizzicato in the E string (treble one), the unit kinda compress the atack and make a swell. Is odd, but just something you have to play around.
    For the price is extremely recommended, really can beat for the speed, sound and reability.

    I just got a pair of these based on your review, and I gotta say, for it being my first wireless guitar system I'm pretty happy ! Thank you so much for your review. However, I'm experiencing a sustain problem, like some others have already pointed out. Volume and tone are great, but notes won't even last half of they usually do when using a cable. I play mostly all the time with distortion so I can really tell the difference. Basically I get the feeling that I'm playing with a noise gate effect with a pretty high threshold. Might this be related with the fact that it transmits in UHF ? Maybe the 5 GHz won't have this issue. Anyway, for 40 bucks it's a pretty good deal.

    Just grabbed one of these from Amazon, based on this video. I have a Boss WL-20L details as my "throw&go" details, along with the X-vive U4 ears rig. While the ears rig works great, it's a huge Wi-Fi hog, and it causes dropouts with the Boss. The Lekato, being in an entirely different frequency range, is immune to the X-vive. I plan to use this rig this weekend on a gig. I will probably test battery life first. To my ears, the Lekato is a tad darker sounding than the BOSS, and seems to drop the level slightly. That said, it's perfectly usable. My mindset with this stuff is aligned with yours. Not so much "does it sound exactly like…………??", and more "can I use this on a gig?". So far, yes. Assuming the battery life is enough to get through a gig, it'll be great. Thanks for this video. I'd have never known about these otherwise.

Tried it out and it works fine, but as others have mentioned, the output is a bit lower which translates to less gain/distortion from my Helix amp. I think thats why theres a lack of sustain. I noticed, like others, there is sustain problems like there’s a noise gate cutting off any long notes. Also sounds like there’s a compressor which is bringing up the noise floor so there’s an audible white noise in the background which is very obvious when playing clean. Also a strange one with my strat where moving the volume knob creates static noise like a dirty pot. I got this wireless, mine arrived yesterday and it´s under the name IRIN, externally it's equal, so I guess it´s one manufacturer and many brands, I compared it with my C-3 and Cuvave(wich you find under Lekato, Muslady, Guetaria, etc) I did a test recording, First thing is than this unit IRIN, is got at least 3 db's less than the cable and C-3 and 2 db's less than the Cuvave, the quality of the sound is for me the better, while the C-3 is muddy and lost treble, and the Cuvave is the oposite witnh too much treble, always comparing all with the cable (a short Fender cable). So this item (Irin, Lekato, Swiff....) is got less volume, but the good thing is that has no noise almost at all (compared with the other two) so a liitle more gain or volume, will solve that. My experiente until now is that none of this wireless sounds like a cable in quantity and quality and I guees this is due to the Analog to Digital conversors, I don't understand why because now the conversor are cheap, but I guess that we still have to wait until this wireless get completely developed, thaks all for sharing experience

      Thanks for sharing your experience. I appreciate it. I’m glad you found there was no noise with it. That was my experience as well. As for the cable tone, I personally stand by my tone philosophy of “does it sound good? If so use it.” I don’t chase the exact tone of a cable personally, and as long as I can dial in a great tone, that’s all that matters. Thanks again for the comment!

The notes are not crisp, they are cutting in and out, and even when I do simple chord strumming, it doesn't sound anywhere near as good and as clear as it should. I'm thinking this may have to do with the inbuilt pickup and preamp system on my Yamaha APX-500ii and it probably doesn't matter which wireless unit I have, it will still not sound great. I'm contemplating adding a separate Magnetic Soundhole pickup or Piezo pickup which may help get over this problem. I'm keen to hear your thoughts on this or if you have any other suggestions? Cheers from Maurie

      @maurieinfanti8145 2 года назад +5

      Hi all. Just a quick update. I bought a cheap Magnetic Soundhole pickup to test my theory and it worked fine with the Lekato WS-70. There was no issue with the crispness of the notes, however as it was a cheap Magnetic Soundhole pickup so the quality of the tone was average and not as good as the built-in preamp system. In summary, the Lekato WS-70 had problems with the inbuilt 'active' pre-amp system that came with my Yamaha APX-500ii but works fine with passive systems like a Magnetic Sound Hole pickup or any standard electric guitar. Cheers.

    Scott, love the videos. Is there any way you can do a video of how to use the Lekato WS-70 transmitter with 2 receivers ? It has it covered on the last page of the manual, but honestly, I'm still confused as to how this works. Thanks !

    Great vid! For live use, can this wireless work well when on stage with several wireless microphones?

    • @ScottUhlMusic
      @ScottUhlMusic  4 месяца назад

      It depends on if the wireless are high end or cheap stuff. The more cheap wireless on stage, the more you run the risk that they don’t work

    I bought this (Swiff version), and while playing i noticed that my sustain felt far lower.
    So i plugged in a cable as a comparison, and was back to full sustain again.
    What i found, was that the output cut the guitars gain level going into the amp enough,
    to mimic the sound of the guitar with its volume rolled down to about half.

    hey scott, i watched some of your videos and I hope you'll notice this. I am really torn between the ammoon and the ws70, however I am leaning over towards the ammoon one. Is it really sensitive to 5ghz as I have a router at home that transmits on the same frequency as well as if that is the case i might go with the ws70 here. ( I play bass if this makes a difference lol)

    • @ScottUhlMusic

      I would go with the ammoon. Any wireless can get interference, especially cheap ones. Just always test it out with your setup when you get it to make sure it works for you 👍

    Great reviews. Thanks for putting in all the time on gear. FYI, I bought the lekato WS-70 and there is a very noticeable hiss every time I play a note (Bass player here). Tried multiple basses (Passive) and multiple amps with and without pedal(s). I can actually EQ the hiss out but I have to kill my mids to do it. No hiss with my old Line 6 X2 wireless, but I desperately want to get away from 9volt batteries, floor power adapter and body pack. (Use in ears as well... Too many damn bodypacks!) I cant hear any hissing in your vids, do you notice anything when you strike a single note? The hiss just kinda rides along on the note and fizzles out when you stop playing. (Tried changing channels as well) Also the volume is definitely attenuated a bit...Another youtuber "Colin" just posted the same issue that I'm having.........Thanks again!

      Thanks for the comment! And no, I did not notice any hiss when I use it. Some people say they get a hiss with these types or wireless in general. I would try either this one: amzn.to/3bmOFnj or this one: amzn.to/3a6Ks8s
      Those seem to be marketed more towards basses and/or active pickups

      Same here, just bought this one for an active bass and it gets a lot of hiss, with my guitar I got a little bit and by changing the channel i can pretty much eliminate the hiss. But for the bass it's still there very present. I'm deciding if I should return it.

    •  Год назад

      If you listen with good headphones you will here the hiss in his tone test (in clean mostly). To me, it's very unbearable, but I guess some people can accept it.

    •  Год назад

      @@fredericoankh Same. I'm not so happy with it, It's good to have UHF at this price, but I can't stand this noise out. I think I will return it.

      @ do you still happen to have your unit? I have the ws70+ plus (the stereo version) and it has the same issue but only when using guitars. If I used a phone with the transmitter no noise at all. Was wondering if you can do the same test on your unit...this issue is making me crazy, this is the second pair of wireless now that i've purchased and tried. Thanks!

    4:05 For active pups its always a good idea to use a mono jack adapter which grounds the power terminal in the active pup jack. I have been able to use the swiff ws50 with an emg active pup bass (worked 10% of the time) and ibanez active preamp bass(it worked 50% of the time without the adapter).

    Hey Scott, just a little feedback.. I had bad luck with this set of wireless Lekato ws 70 and the the swift ws 50. Both Sets I fully charged, plugged into my fender bass, non active, and into my yorkville and fender bass amps… both systems with both bass amps gave me a hissing sounds like bacon cooking. I tried the xvive w the 2.4 and had good results with them with no hissing and no drop out… of course, that was only my experience with sets of wireless. My guitarist tried my Lekato system and worked fine.

      Thanks for commenting! Yup… that’s what I’ve found with these wireless systems. Some work well with some setups and not well with others. Xvive U2 gave me problems, but a buddy of mine uses it every show and it works great. It’s bizarre for sure. That’s why it’s always important to try it out immediately and return it if it doesn’t work with your setup.

    Hey Scott, I tried these with my Lakland 5502 Bass. It is active but has a passive switch. In both modes the Bass sounds compressed. Maybe my unit is defective? Even in the upper registers it has this problem.

      What do you mean “50% sound gone?” And are you using the same setup at home as you are live? It doesn’t make any sense that it would change unless you changed something.

      @@ScottUhlMusic I mean The detail and mass of my sound's gone. Most I use this one between Guitar and The Tuner and tuner goes to my pedal board. And when I walk away a few steps from pedal board, sound barely heard including latency.

      Wow, that’s crazy. I do not have that problem with mine, and I’ve traveled with this system without any problems with it. Hi, i just brought the swiff audio ws 70 today and I was just trying it. I noticed there is a television buzzing-like sound when I am on the brit hi and modern mode (distortion) using Thr10. I am using grx40 guitar, kind of a cheap one around 170usd. I am not sure if its the guitar problem or the swiff audio ws70 product itself. Have you faced a similar situation while using lekato or swiff audio ws70? Thank you for reading this comment and please tell me about this if you are willing to.

    Is the GETARIA - 2.4GHZ system a better choice then the LEKATO - 2.4GHZ??
    Thanks.
    My big concern is background noise.
    I returned the Swiff 5.8 because it was noisy and weird like a noise gate.
    I read reviews the LEKATO WS-70 may be the same.

      THIS lekato is a 900mhz one. The 2.4ghz ones that are around $40 are all basically the same thing. The Nux one I did a video on is the best 2.4ghz wireless system, but all those other $40 ones are basically the same thing
