Good, honest, thorough and useful review! Better than some of the other sponsored and clearly biased reviews I have seen on YT. Lekato must have listened because there are other color options nowadays and I tested the blue/purplish version yesterday. I compared the WS70 with a variety of other slightly more expsenive systems (Line6 G10, XVive U2, Swiff WS50, Lekato WS50), and this was unfortunately the worst of them all in my opinion when it comes down to the audio quality and noise level, especially when playing clean and subtle notes. It would introduce more white noise while playing than with any of the other systems.. And to me it felt like there was a bit of a lack of dynamics when playing clean due to its gating effect. I would lose systain and also some of the subtle notes were just cut off. I’ve read from some other users complaining about that too. It is however a nice affordable system and fairly well built I think. Plus it is great that it was the only wireless system of the ones that i mentioned before that will play well with active EMG’s. So there are definitely pros and cons with the WS70. Mine is however going back for a refund. I am still curious about the Lekato WS90 and the Nux C5-RC. Really hoping to find a system under $160 with proper dynamics, low noise level and also compatible with active pickups. Hoping that the Nux C5-RC will fit that bill.

Nice review ! For the tone i found a little part to place between the guitar and the wireless..... a Radial Dragster (you attach it to the strap). I own an NUX 5-BRC, a Swiff audio and a Lekato WS-50. No tone difference between a cable or a wireless kit. And no difference between those wireless kit too !

The tone seems to be a lot brighter with the Lakato but i will see at band practice tomorrow what its like.

I sold my WS-70 and baught the WS-50. I found that altho the WS-70 is good in terms of signal frequency, it sucks your tone so much (only has 86db dymanic range). The WS-50 which has true 110db, much closer to real cable tone. I play aggressively that's why I noticed immediately the volume dip when using the WS-70. Its as if the signal/output is compressed. Unlike the WS-50 which sounds so full and rich. Even compared it to my Mogami cable and the WS-50 tone is so close. The only downside is it runs on 5.8ghz which is not so bad 😅

    • @RobCmusic

Agreed. The WS-50 is basically the same unit as the wood-color Ammoon wireless. Much better tone.

    • @MusicMinisterJP7

Perhaps that's what I encountered, bcuz I returned my Swiff WS-70 two weeks after trying it out. The hiss while not playing and hiss at every string stroke became evident and annoying. So I may just go (If anything) with the WS-50.

    • @theblytonian3906

Interesting post. I have the SWIFF WS-70. Notice a marginal tone reduction vs cable but not so much as to find it critical for practice, respecting it might present a consideration for public gig performance. That said, playing Gretsch Filter'Trons and encumbered with unavoidable presbycusis although my hearing frequency range still tests well above average for age. What I'm hearing between cable and wireless with that demonstrated metal trash is a difference in (bandwith limited) saturation. Wondered why SWIFF was retailing both WS-70 and WS-50 concurrently. Size notwithstanding, appears its worth paying the premium for the WS-50 for some.

@@MusicMinisterJP7 No idea what you're talking about with hiss with the WS-70. Ackowledged the OPs reference to the diminished frequency range disparity between the 70 & 50, but I don't experience any discernible white noise with my WS-70 (SWIFF)? Perhaps look elsewhere in your chain for the cause?

@@theblytonian3906 Well, really there's nowhere else to look, noise isn't there when I use the cable, but there when I used the Swiff WS-70. I returned it for peace of the heart ❤.

Some people on Amazon dismounted the device and one found the spec of the uC used. The Input is connected to the internal AD of the CPU and this is 10bit (!).
If this is true, there is no wonder that there is a lot of tone loss in this device. I do not know if this is right, but this would be an explanation.

You don't lose tone through a wireless like you would do with a long cord, and even if you did you would just need a buffered pedal at the beginning of your chain. But I have noticed the BOSS in particular doesn't sound nearly as good as others.

I have one. It's not that good. It passes a signal ok, but it's quite attenuated compared to my three other wireless systems and a cable. It also does a weird thing to the attack of my notes. It seems to heavily limit/compress the peaks in an undesireable way. It's ok for practicing or teaching, but not live performance IMO.

  • @MusicMinisterJP7

OR at least I thought it was:
I ordered this one on Amazon, at first I was more into the fascination of its functionality, to notice anything. However, after 3 weeks I experienced the hiss or fuss others have mentioned. I first tried it on my Fender G-DEC junior amp using my Fender stratocaster pro II and immediately the treble hiss was noticeable and annoying. Then I tried it at church on my Marshall AVT 275 and at first I wasn't noticing the hiss bcuz I was more for hoping all would be fine. (I was currently using a Shure UT4 wireless guitar system). But on the 3rd week, during worship practice, the hiss/fussbecame very noticeable and annoying. I switched back the cable, and all was quiet and true tones were heard again. So I returned it

I saw many reviews on amazon claims this device to have quite much of compression, heavy gate causing shorter sustain and low signal volume issues, did you find it true?
Also is it possible that you test what frequency band are they operating on? I saw different claims all around the internet, some claim 500-550mhz, 550-600, 900 and so on.

    • @IbanezGuy88

From what I remember of this unit, there wasn't a loss in sustain, but more so on the high end loss of tone. I can't recall the frequency band it runs on due to the fact I gave this unit to a friend in need of a wireless unit and he really liked it.
