Wow this setup is pretty much identical to mine, you're the first youtuber I've seen with this! Mine started by picking up a Dutch Army stainless canteen cup in a surplus store in the Netherlands for just 3 Euros i.e. $3. It was in the basement in a box, with no pricetag on, upstairs I was expecting to pay 15 bucks for it which I would have paid, as I was familiar from the British Army with the Crusader Cup which is a tad bigger, but when I served they weren't yet on issue and were available from mail order stores for exhorbitant prices, around the equivalent of $25 which in the late 80s / early 90s was a lot. Next I bought a Trangia burner only from a camping shop, and tried various pot stands which worked okay but not ideal, like a collapsible mini barbecue in thin sheet metal. Then 2 years back with the lockdown I started to go camping again, so I bought a £10 Lixada folding twig stove, similar to your Emberlit but tbh better for me as the bottom plate which has holes in it sits about half an inch off the ground, and it fits the Trangia perfectly, as well as working great with twigs, or solid fuel e.g. esbit, just as you pointed out. Btw the Emberlit is very expensive here, £70 which is about 90 bucks. I wanted a lid and bought a Pathfinder lid online for about $9 equivalent, works perfectly too although it's a bit bigger but I don't need it to clip on, just cover the cup. Also got a Dutch Army canteen cheap online, and a Dutch Army canteen pouch in woodland to put it all inside, except for the Trangia burner. Now I've added a Dutch Army stainless mess tin to it for more cooking capability, Latest acquisition is a replica of an old rarely issued British mess tin lid which doubles as a small frying pan. I also have a small Swedish foldacup so I can make a pot of tea in the canteen cup, and use it as a teapot pouring out cups of tea, the advantage of stainless over titanium is better heat retention so the tea stays hot for up to half an hour with the lid on. Or I make pourover ground coffee. My entire set up cost me around £55 or $70 and is bombproof, mostly made in Europe and tried and tested by European military, and versatile in that I can use 3 types of fuel with it and cook in many ways from boiling water, heating pouch MREs (which fit perfectly in the mess tin, even 2 at a time) to frying and making stews etc. from scratch. Also it's very compact, with the mess tin being rectangular I can fill it up with food items e.g. MRE pouches without losing space.
Great Video ! One benefit of a stove is that "A Stove uses one half the wood of an open Campfire" ! Also the Bad News is that you can get the stove in Titanium ($$.$$) as I did... tjl
Mine is a cooking kit using the Stanley Cook Kit. Using a Condor H20 pouch. Starting at the bottom of the pouch there is a Oilcamp Stainless Steel Space Saver Cup. Then the Stanley Adventure Cook Camp System which fits ( sits ) inside the cup. The tapered sides of the Stanley Camp Cook kit fits inside the cup like it was made for it. Along the outside of the Stanley is a long handled Titanium spoon. Inside the Stanley is the Gen2 Folding Firebox Nano Ultralight Backpacking 3" Stove. On top of the Stanley is a Trangia Alcohol burner so I can cook with either alcohol or wood. The outside ( center ) pocket of the Condor has a plastic ( Flask shaped ) 8 oz bottle which has the Denatured Alcohol for the Trangia. Next to it is a fero rod for lighting the burner or starting a fire. Folded next to the fero rod is a bandana which can be used if the handles of either pot gets too hot for a bare hand to touch. A few months later I added two canteen pouches, one on each side of the Condor H20 pouch. One pouch has a Nalgene canteen in it and the other pouch has a couple dehydrated meals. Thanks to using a wood fire the Stanley has a nice blackened bottom and sides which I think helps it to heat up quicker.

I just bought a G.I. Canteen at a military store. Aluminum. It looked nasty inside and smells a little bit lol I washed it but I see little particles of silver aluminum in the water. Is that normal? Well I get sick if I drink some of it? Lol also I bought canteen coffee cup like yours and same with that. I washed it but I’ve seen little particles of silver aluminum.
You need hot lips no really no joke its a orange silicone thing that hooks on the lip of the cup and it takes up no space and weighs nothing and a 2 pk is about $5
I just happened to order a Nalgene canteen and a Rothco canteen cup, with lid, just two days ago. I'm glad I came across your video. It looks like I may invest in a Trangia. I appreciate the upload. BTW, do you think a foldable Esbit stove would work for the canteen cup?

If it’s the style of Esbit stove I’m thinking of, I don’t see why not.
I user a Firebox NANO, and it has the sticks to use a Trangia stove that come with it, or you can use twigs and such like the Emberlit.

The cup may be stainless, but the lid is aluminum.
