    Yeah, working five days a week for 48 years was tough too.
    Retired now, so hope I live long enough to go out and about.
    Or make my CCT in the back yard like others, no need in walking miles with bad hip just to fix ramen.

      In the backyard or out in the woods, either way it will be a success. It is more fun in the woods though....

    great video....anytime you are alone in the woods it is "good medicine" no matter where it is.....btw it is hard to find good quality swamp water in the dry season...lots of swamps are dry in my area....it is kinda cool I can walk in the swamps and see what I am usually walking on during the wet season lol

    Great video! I enjoy my canteen setup a lot too. Its hard to beat for personal outdoor cooking. Good idea adding instant rice. Soaks up the water when you're not wanting a soup. Thanks for posting!

    • @FloridaBoyBushcraftSurvival

      Haha the rice soaked up all of the soup and made it almost a casserole but it was really good. Adding the chicken made all the difference.

    Great video!!! Great idea with the rice I might try it with yellow rice 😉. I made some brackets out of metal coat hanger for my canteen stove. I haven't tried them out yet but I do like the hardware cloth idea.

    • @FloridaBoyBushcraftSurvival
      @FloridaBoyBushcraftSurvival  7 лет назад +1

      The rice really soaked up the chicken broth, it was pretty good. The hardware cloth idea is so easy and gives you just the right amount of air space between the cup and the stove. Plus it is easy to do, you just set it on there and go....

    Add some veggies and seasonings instead of the ramen packet. Save those ramen packets for oral rehydration broth when it’s hot and you’re feeling like you’re about to crash. That’s what the rangers in the Grand Canyon are using...

    Hi Matt. You made another GREAT video. I like it. Tell me about the Mil suspenders and the SAW pouches besides that other large pouch that's about 8 X 8 X 5 deep. What's that one called. Where did you get all that old ALICE fighting belt rig. I think I saw ALICE clips to hold all those pouches onto the belt right? Where did you get all that? It looks pretty good for a waist pack or waist belt with the suspenders to offset the weight a little and all sorts of pouches attached with ALICE clips or MOLLE clips maybe. Please describe it. Thanks Matt. The food looks great. I'll bet it was yummy. Bart

    • @FloridaBoyBushcraftSurvival
      @FloridaBoyBushcraftSurvival  6 лет назад +1

      Thanks! That rig is one of my first and one of my favorites. It is a basic LC2 web belt/LC2 suspender rig with a 200rnd SAW pouch anchored by 2 canteens. Then on each side I have a basic med kit with the plastic containers. Up front are 2 small arms pouches that anchor the front suspender straps. Yes there are ALICE clips on the whole thing and they work great. If you search around ebay and amazon you can find stuff that is brand new and unissued. Yeah, it works great and with the wide belt and suspenders you cant hardly feel any weight at all. Thanks man!

    • @bartwalker474
      @bartwalker474 6 лет назад

      You were correct Sir! I now have a belt and suspenders and a bunch of the same pouches you have. I LOVE it! This setup with the belt and suspenders is so perfect in its desigh. It's soooooo easy to hike around with even a lot of weight in my pouches. I added a butt pack too on the back and I have the shorter, longer fanny pack to that I switch out with the butt pack sometimes. I even found round nalgene cup bags or covers that hold a GSI round cup and a round stove like the canteen cup stove just round. All this stuff hooks onto the belt with ALICE clips or MOLLE II straps. It is so cool and versatile. Thanks for showing me all about it and making videos of it. Have you been out hiking or is it a bit too hot down there right about now? Talk to me Matt! and thanks again for the videos and the replies to my newby questions.

    Looks tasty! I prefer using an old coffee can system over canteens but I find you guys with canteens have a lot of good recipes.
    Wonder if that hardware cloth could grill a small burger?

    • @FloridaBoyBushcraftSurvival
      @FloridaBoyBushcraftSurvival  7 лет назад +1

      It was! You could definitely grill a good size burger on the hardware cloth but it is galvanized so you wouldn't want to do that. I got one of those single use grills for $3.99 at the grocery store and it has a food grade grill so I have since made a similar sized grill with it. Dying to try it out but it is too hot right now...
