Very cool. Loving these videos. Two observations to make this better: I would pack the peas and carrots separate from the sausage and add them at the very end. Pre-cooked peas and carrots get really mushy if you overcook or stir them too much. And while sautéing the sausage I'd pour a little of that beer in. That would give you an amazing flavor boost. Either way, nice job with the canteen cup!
Good advice about the peas and carrots, however the beer is another matter. Check out some of my other CCT vids and you will see that I put the beer to good use...lol
I like the canteen cup Tuesday. We used to cook ramen in it. The iron fit in the top desk drawer upside down and it didn't take long to boil the water. Just had to skip the chow hall sometimes.
Nothing like hobo rice and sausage and a tall boy on a beautiful December day in Florida. Almost makes you feel bad for those folks with all that snow... nah. Lol.
It was a rice kinda day! Mine was a Caribbean type meal so I had rum instead of beer 😉 forgot to show it. Yours looked sooooo good buddy! Take care. Thanks for another great canteen cup Tuesday 🤘
You FORGOT the hot sauce? OMG... I would just go back and get it. I LOVE Sriracha on my concoctions. If they fail, the Sriracha makes them good again. If they are great, the Sriracha makes them better. I emptied out a Chulula bottle so I could carry the right amount. Thanks for another crazy idea. I just made some sausage, mushroom, onion ramen.bomb with Sriracha (did I mention I like Sriracha?)... it was sooo good!
Matt my Southern Brother I am surprised you still have hair on your knuckles with that gasifier stove. Seen ya almost grab it off the stove with the ungloved hand. Looks great as does the Bud Light, mmmmmm. Next time I am in Florida we gonna get together bro. Love it. Have a great week, will upload my wintry video later tonight from my day at the tent on Sunday. Cheers
For the outer can, I used a jasmine tea tin. It's square-shaped, making it pack better. The inside can is a Progresso soup can into which I can put one of those things used to make beer-steamed chicken. It keeps my cup or mess kit pan elevate just enough.. All in all, a great little stove system.
Today Ifound this video and I loved it. I enjoy your canteen cup video"s. Now, have you considered putting together a canteen cup cookbook?I think you need to make a cookbook of your recipes. Also, include recipes from others who participate in these videos' Thank you Sir and have a good day.
Bud Light for brunch? Sounds good to me! I noticed you left out an important ingredient, but it looks like folks already pointed that out. Just means you get to put more hot sauce on your dinner tonight! 😉
Trying to set the woods on fire there Matt ya didn't even clear around the area where you put the stove LOL!!! All that soy sauce you're gonna be stuck on the turlet!! It does look pretty good though!! Always a dang plane, vehicle, or nosy neighbor messing with folks vidjas!! *Have a good'nnn*
Hi Matt, looks like 👍a fine meal👍and another very good video. I don't know Florida like you,but you were saying how dry it was and using twigs off the ground. Wasn't it a concern, that cooking right on top of the leaf litter and detritus, has the potential for a wildfire? It appears that a few minutes of prep would eliminate this risk, but I was not there and was wondering how you feel about that? Thanks
It is always a consideration, especially in Florida. However this video was shot a couple of months after the hurricane and we were still getting lots of rain and the ground was moist enough that I was not too concerned. Now, however, you cannot even have an open flame it is so dry. So I guess timing is everything...lol
No hot sauce or cheese... Good god man what are you doing! Was that a cry for help and we failed you? Do you need help, do you need assistance? A Canteen Cup Tuesday intervention? Lol, man, that meal looked really good and just put that on my list. Great video as usual.
lol... I hear ya. I've been searching online for a heat resistant, form fitting glove, but, all I can find are bulky (almost oven mit sized) configurations. Anywho, great vid and I appreciate the response.
Looks good but that stoves was not balanced and I noticed you didn't clear the stove area of debris and fuel you said was very dry. Weren't you worried about starting a fire?
Well, it was balanced good enough to not fall over and I dont recall starting the woods on fire lol. Its not like I walked off and left it unattended...
NO CHEESE?!?! I'm unsubbing this instant! LOL! I made a little gasser awhile back, but really have not used it much. I think I need to make another one, but b with larger air holes. Though I did put some sort gassifer stove on my Santa's wish list so we'll see! Lunch looked great. Current a balmy +11 here in God's Country.

As a real freight train hobo , two thumbs up,- plus the beer is definitely a nice touch.
Thank you sir!
@@FloridaBoyBushcraftSurvival Keep the faith, bossman. Whenever I am fortunate enough to find internate acess I enjoy your vids.
Looks to me to be a potential forest fire hazard.
It is not lol

Looked good to me. Makes me wonder why I don't eat rice more often. She does not like rice is probably the reason. Thank you for the video, Matt
Thanks buddy. Rice is what you make of it, easy breezy. Works good on the trail...
Looks like that turned out pretty good. I really like your little gasser stove. It was really chooching.
Thanks. It was really pretty damn good, especially topped off with a beer. I made that little wood gasser last year and it is still crankin...
Cool thanks
No problem!

Now that’s a meal.
Thanks!
Being a boy scout I was told to always clear a spot before a fire.
While that is always a good idea, and I usually do, this was a quick one and I didn't really need it...
That was a great idea! Looks delicious, I can't believe I didn't already try that. Ps the hobo rice looked good too! Lol. N video thanks for sharing!
Lol...the beer part was the best
Looked awesome! Great job my friend!

I use a very similar homemade gassifier stove. I'd never hit the trail without it.
I built this one a while back and have used it quite a bit. Only cost like $5 but it really cooks...

Meal looked great.

I made this one, have a video on it. Made it from a 1 quart paint can from Home Depot and a Progresso soup can...it works great
looked tasty.
