Pretty helpful to know that is not uncommon to ride wider trucks than your board. I love bigger boards, personally, but love the modern shape. I usually skate 9.0 and it really works for me. Gotta pick up some bigger trucks tho! My balance is off
Dale is like the cool older brother that everyone gravitates towards at first but then he starts talking and Dan is the humble younger brother that’s just like “yeah sorry about him.” The chemistry flows well.

why haven´t you asked Nigel to do this lol, would have been the best setup vid ever ^^ I always skate 1cm smaller trucks (width) on boards, like the 5.0" Venture hi on 8" and the 5.25" on 8.25" decks, makes me cheat some flips :P was the common hype 7 years back in my hometown 11:10 which shape were you talking bout meaning the Powell popsicle? the 247 ?, cause Dale you have the 242 bluntier line on your flight being the 243.. I only can feel good on them as well, the 247 like the Giorgio Zattoni pro model is too weird, can´t or better say I won´t adapt to it. always feels like I´m missing wood on certain fs-flips or Big-Heel stuff. Tell my OCD to not be picky :D often skated the Powell grips and Toy machine which were pretty good, but compared to MOB there is nothing as perfect... cause the first two loose the heftiness pretty fast, if not cleaned regularly with a "belt sand cleaner", but these and Grizzly are my only go to´s! Actually I´m a gripart collector, don´t tell my mum. ;D
i have thunder 147 and they are for 8" deck. ive had quite a few 8" decks now and everyone of them has been a little bigger than the trucks and ive tried 3 sets of wheels. the perfect actual size is 7.9 axel if u have OCD. i prefer my trucks to be perfect inline with the deck.
Did Dale ever send bare feet photographs to that one dude that kept asking for them? Hahahah, either way that stuff is so hilarious. Some people are crazy with their fetishes.
What kind of camera do you film with? I'm planning on starting RUclips when I go to college, so it'd really cool if you could talk about like how to get started or how you come up with content idk
If I was to move up to an 8.25 with 8 trucks (idk the specific size but the are the correct size for an 8 inch board) what would happen and would it be skate able? Thanks
@@austangbadboi2187 wheelbite will come from how loose your trucks are, loose trucks means more wheelbite than tight trucks, the size of the truck won’t really make a difference with wheel bite when it’s and 8 truck on and 8.25 board
By the way, when it comes to Abec rating and the whole bearings thing, you'll notice it _kind_ of does matter when you want to get a skateboard that continues to roll the longest and fastest distance on a single max force push. I used to have some very mediocre bearings in one of my longboards and have pushed literally for miles outside of town a couple of times. With those mediocre bearings (stock ones that came with the longboard complete) it was like one strong push every 10ft, whereas the better more expensive higher rated Abec bearings easily tripled that distance (per single max force push). Keep in mind, on a single max force push that's like a world a difference in how much effort it takes to get around. For street skating or park and tricks related skating there's literally no reason why Bones Reds wouldn't always be the best choice. Or whatever other brand you wish to support in roughly the same quality and price range. Because most of those bearings will be pretty much on par in terms of performance. I like the Independent GP-S bearings (cheaper than Reds) and Mini Logo bearings (also cheaper than Reds) a lot too. So far, every brand of bearings seems to (be able to) break (eventually). So I'd never spend more than $50 on a set of bearings ever.
I definitely recommend spending a littlee but extra on nice bearings but yeah can’t say I would pay 50.. I bought nothing but shit bearings for the longest time and when I got bearings that actually rolled it was such a big difference in niceness
Every set of bearings I get, (reds, indy, shake junt, bronson...) the nylon ball cages break... and I ride them with spacers and clean them at least every couple of months. Anybody else struggling with this?
@@samgamgee6508 if you ever have a couple extra bucks try a set of OUST bearings. I’m running the 7’s. they’re very well made and blow all other bearings outta the water. They don’t need to sponsor anyone because they sell like hot cakes to downhillers and serious longboarders. Don’t tighten axle nuts too tight, just snug.
Andrew Reynolds skates one size truck regardless of board width.. Usually smaller trucks than board width. For me yuck i like it sticking out a bit. You can adjust to anything btw.

TO PUT ON GRIP TAPE you just peel it, lay one side end to end long ways, and then stand on it. Get a razor to stab air pockets. Then scrape the sides to outline the board, then cut at the lines. (Dale does this). Putting on grip tape is easy. For BEARINGS, i live by drowning all sets of bearings in WD-40. Then spin it as hard as you can. Done. Abec ratings are for speed and durability. Higher the rating the more fragile but faster it is. 7 is fine. 5 if you're rough. etc (DAN- YOU SHOULD SKATE ABEC 5) *Bones Reds for life.*
