EXACTLY!! @keenramps pretty sure we are going to order 2 x 5ft quarters for our little skatepark. We've built a bunch but supporting you all would be the icing on the cake!
@@Memberz372 the homies lettin u know how to build something or you can diy whatever u want, if you have a problem with their hard work then do it yourself.
I think that's a much harder ask because you need decent plywood and a lot of 2x4s cut to specific length. I'm sure you could still do it on the cheap but it's gonna be hard to make a sturdy decent qp that's worth the time and effort out of cheap garbage.
@@FreudianQuip I agree, for a qp you’d have to be a lot more precise and specific. But I don’t doubt that someone could for cheap! I’ve even seen some with pvc pipes that perform well
@@itsdakota6442 you're correct the problem is that quarter pipes take longer to build, it's probably not worth the time investment to use shitty potentially warped pallet wood that probably won't hold up as well over time
this is what i love. it just shows that this company isn’t all about the money and it truly just wants to help the skating community grow and kids to get better. huge respect for you guys
yo mad respect on this one. Out here in savannah georgia we dont have a solid diy and the park is half ass. Gonna make a ledge from this and hopefully sparks a flame with the scene, stay easy - Ben
Back in the late 80's there was a neighborhood being built (Point Mallard Estates). My friend's mom would take his older brothers over there and we built a huge half pipe in his back yard with all the wood they were boosting from the houses...
hey guys, i have to say, i watched this video and got inspired. i literally found a bed frame sticking out of a neighbor's trash can a few days ago. i borrowed an angle grinder from a neighbor (literally). he showed me how to use it. instead of building a grind box like you did, i got a 4x4 post from home depot. cut it down to the length of the bed rails -- about 5 1/2 feet -- and put the rails on both sides of the 4x4. added some short 2x4 cut offs for feet and stability and the thing ROCKS! i spray painted and waxed the rails and it slides so fast i can barely stay on it! super stoked. thanks for the tutorial and keep doing 'em! btw, i'm 48 years old and got back into skating last year to teach my 2 little boys how to ride. loving it.
You guys are awesome for showing kids who may not be able to afford your products how to enjoy skating at a low budget cost. I will continue to support your company and it’s products due to your humble attitude! Thank you Keen Ramps.
Love you guys showing the youth how to build stuff; not everyone got the opportunities we did in school! I got in woodshop class in 6-8th grade and took carpentry 1 & 2 in Vo-Tech in high school learning the skills you guys have. I’m old now(48) still skating when I can and went thru apprenticeship & now teach S/M in industry (28 yrs) and Love giving back! I realize that I'm late to this video, but... Its was super helpful and I plan on using it as a reference for my friends new box. Props to these two legends for giving out some of there trade secrets, and proving that not all companies are greedy, definitely subscribing.
This is 100% amazing and Cory is such a solid dude for offering this kind of transparency. Honestly, could not be more stoked to have watched this! One thing....The local Library in my area just sent out an email saying that they are offering tools for a one-week rental now...I thought that was amazing so I donated some old tools that I had to them so that is a new option too!
Incredible video guys, thanks for putting this knowledge out there. I grew up making janky pallet boxes and now that I'm 35 I still make janky pallet boxes haha. Although, the cover sheet idea was never on my radar. That's an insider knowledge pro tip right there. I'm gonna hit up the local hardware stores and see if I can snag a few.
The hot tip about being near new construction is huge. I live at the Jersey shore and dumpster dive often where i'm working. Been finding that plastic wood for decking lately. Gonna make a weather proof box from free stuff this week. Tnx for the video. Great inspiration. (And I'd still give you guys business if I have the extra scratch.)
Hahahah!! I was literally thinking about how I needed angle iron yesterday... wake up today, and watch this vid You guys are awesome!!!! Lol thank you 😎🖖🤙
I reclaim furniture and just got back into skating. This video reaffirms my shifting gears into trying to make boxes/ramps out of my finds. Now just to find primo cheap sheathing. Love the coping idea. Totally stealing that. Ty. Lolz. Skate or die
Man this brought back memories puzzle piece in borrowed lumber to make skate ramps my mom asking where my bedframe went because we used it for coping Hits me right in the feels
This was a great idea for a video, I will be using pallets, but I wont be using whole pallets as it makes it quite heavy. If you can find longer 8ft pallets, disassemble, de-nail and use less wood will make for a lighter more mobile box! Great work guys! The bed frame tip was what pushed me to move forward to create a budget box! thank you!
First time I've seen a front Feeb look so good in a box 🤙 thanks for the motivation boiz, gonna get out and build some shit today since weather is bad ✌️
I've build so many things out of bedframes. Sim racing rig, end tables, I have added angle to chunk ledges, the are the shit. Only issue is they can be hard to drill thru. Great video, love this kind of stuff
Fun video! We used to make our own ramps as we lived on dirt roads. So our skatepark was our driveway.. Pro tip; screw 2-3 2x4s on the other side and then take 2 PVC pipes and screw them on top. It makes a raised flat rail on the other side. This is fun for board slides and such
Thanks for your efforts and sharing your skills. I got so amped I just built on using what I could find. I used stainless steel for the coping though so have to see ho that goes. Just wanted to say thanks again for your great vids. Peace from Melbourne Australia ✌🐨💙🛹
DBC..Daily Blessings Coming! Thank You and God Bless!! Thank you guys So Much, Thanks for the idea! I Have Done It before A Long Time Ago when I was younger.. Lol. Palate and garage piece angel iron! First box, and tagged Street Skater on it, on top price of wood! Seriously, Thank You and God Bless You ALL!!
I built a box a few months ago and didnt want to buy angled iron, I also ended up cutting up an old bed frame that I found on the street, they work great!
I used pallets, a piece of skatelight from the park that had closed down, and some scavenged angle iron. It was actually prefect to learn everything and we were stoked
I’m making one similar with the bed frame and if you don’t have a grinder but you have a drill and bits you can look up how to drill out rivets. It was a little weird at first but worked after I got the hang of it.
You guys should do a series on how to repurpose the pallets your ramps ship with. I just received 2 quarter pipes and now the pallet it came with is definitely getting turned into a manny pad with some angle iron on the edge
I made a big box and 2 ramps to make it a box jump out of those blue pallets but I dismantled them and just used them as building material.... Much more flexibility in the design but also harder, this is a great beginners build. I also made curb guards, basically you can screw 2 1"x4"x8' at an angle and put angle iron/bed rail on the edge as coping and use it on a curb or the edge of a wall w/o damaging the wall... It was a way to use a specific spot w/o leaving telltale marks so we never got kicked out.
Went to a new construction site in my area, one house had a couple of piles of scrap wood. Asked permission and walked away with a bunch of nice 2x6s 🙌🏽
i need this in a ready to go playlist. as we dont have what i consider a ridable skate park im working on building a park i can load into the back of my truck.
In order to prevent the pallet planks from splitting, drive in the screw in reverse to start with to make an initial hole and "heat cauterise" it to strengthen, then set drill back to normal and drive the screw in, it shouldn't split.
Ironicly doing this makes me want to support your company! Nice!

Probably one of the coolest videos in skateboarding tbh
he says my friends wouldn’t be excited to skate it while me and my friends get excited to skate a curb, that box would be sick
If you have a new store being built by you when they’re stocking up there will be huge mountains of pallets that you can take if you’re fast
