      Few weeks ago I saw an argument about what would win in a free-for-all between the reaper, shadow, chelicerate, and one adult ghost leviathan, like it's not obvious the adult ghost would win

    • @herobrinesbestminion6766

  • @RobertChandler1107
    @RobertChandler1107 Год назад +91

    I would say that the Reapers are very susceptible to the adult Ghost Leviathans, because Reapers could be so easily lured away to the crater edge, where multiple Ghosts could all gang up on them. There are several Reaper skeletons in the Lost River/Lava Zone that the PDA tells you were lured there by Sea Dragons, so they can clearly be easily tricked into entering dangerous areas filled with predators.

      @dshane8731 Год назад +1

      The whole skeleton thing dosent actually matter all it proves is that reapers had died there however we have no proof that ghost leviathans had died there as they do not have a skeleton and are made of entirely muscle which would not leave a trace of their death

    • @tetrafuse3096
      @tetrafuse3096 Год назад +5

      You would be incorrect. Sea Dragon Leviathans do not lure Reapers into the Lost River or the Lava Zone, they come up to the waters inhabitated by Reapers, snatch one and using their giant arms they drag them to the Lava Zone where the Reapers melt to death. As their bodies are not made to withstand high temperatures. Why would the Reapers go into the Lost River or Lava Zone when both areas are clearly hotter than normal waters where they swim?

    • @tetrafuse3096
      @tetrafuse3096 Год назад +2

      @@dshane8731 are you talking about Reapers being in the Lost River or in the Lava Zone? Because I do not recall seeing any Reaper skeletons in the Lost River, only in the Lava Zone. And im pretty sure Ghost Leviathans do have a skeleton. Reapers obviously have one

    • @RobertChandler1107

  • @RprShadow
    @RprShadow Год назад +34

    Additional point about the ghost leviathans. Theres some reason to suggest that behavior wise they might actually travel in groups. Since the longer you're in the void the more adults show up, up to 3 i believe. So at the very least, the sound of one adult ghost attacking something seems to attract more adults. Where as lore-wise and in gameplay im pretty sure Reapers control their own territories more or less in total solitude.

  • @tetrafuse3096
    @tetrafuse3096 Год назад +6

    Personally having killed 17 Reapers and 5 Ghosts in the game, I would point out that the Reapers actually put up more of a fight. I do not know what it was about but once they had latched on to my suit and shook it a little, they always turned around and swam either to the surface and swam really fast to in some instances several hundred meters away while I was still latched on to them. And the ones near the areas with the Crater Edge nearly always swam beyond the Crater Edge to force me to let go of them or to fall to my doom. They also (Reapers) liked to swim headfirst into the Seabed at times. While Ghost Leviathans (mostly Juveniles) just rammed themselves against walls trying to get to me. They did flee as well. One even brought me to the Inactive Lava Zone Entrance trying to either escape or destroy my Suit. Adult Ghost Leviathans loved to swim right to the Void or surface to get rid of me. Obviously the fact being that the Ghost Leviathans both Juvenile and Adult do not have grab attacks like the Reapers so they could not fight back as fiersely. But both did like attacking my Prawn Suit even when I was not inside it. So TLDR Reapers seemed to have more strategies to get rid of me than Ghosts. Cant wait to see how Shadow Leviathans and Chelicerates react to me fighting them.
    And yeah I would love to see a Part 2 to this. Perhaps Reaper Leviathan vs Chelicerate or Juvenile/Adult Ghost Leviathan vs Void Chelicerate/Shadow Leviathan. Or Shadow Leviathan vs Reaper Leviathan. Sea Dragons would be way too OP against Shadows or Chelives (Void or Normal). And there is one more thing to consider. The Squidshark is listed as a Leviathan Class predator in the smaller class. What would happen if you would put lets say 5 or more Squidsharks vs a Reaper or a Cheli or even a Shadow? That would be interesting I bet.

  • @Spillrays
    @Spillrays Год назад +23

    I’ve noticed that the reaper usually has to swim further forward before turning around where the Ghosts seem to be able to turn around a bit sharper so I feel that would play a part too.

    • @arkhamasylum8972
      @arkhamasylum8972 Год назад

      That's probably because it's moving slower so it's easier to make sharp turns, or because of the ghost's hammerhead giving it better turning on an x axis, but the reaper is probably better at turning on a y axis.

    For measuring speeds, what you could do is use console commands to freeze time, warp to a specific point, spawn the enemy, then warp to a point that's as far as possible while still in aggro range (you could spawn a seamoth there as bait), then reenable time and use the stopwatch feature on your phone to time how quickly it reaches its target.
    Then repeat using the same warp coords for the other creature.

    Probaby the best thing I've seen, and it isn't hypothetical either, was the Juvie ghost over the pit to the lava zone past the Disease research facility, taking on a sea dragon.
    I.... actually shat myself because I'd been doing my lazy run to the lava castle with just my seaglide..... the Sea dragon had actually followed me to the entrance and I must have triggered an attack from the ghost. I got out of the way and hadn't realised the Sea dragon was RIGHT THERE.
    So.... they started fighting each other and I left. I didn't think the Sea dragons would follow you that far but apparently I was wrong.

    Here's a description of the fights
    Reaper vs Juvenile
    After escaping the deep dragon from hell, the Reaper swam for its territory. The waters themselves seemed foreign here, the green tinted surroundings distracted the beast, but the large skull it runs into makes it roar. After it stops, the Reaper hears a roar from the skull. It never had anything like this happen before, why was the dead roaring back? That's when he sees it, the transparency of the blue bodied predator. Another creature to challenge the Reaper. Neither behemoth hesitated, that swam towards eachother. The Reaper's speed caught the Ghost of gaurd, it swam quickly and sunk its talon's in. The Ghost roared and lunged forwards, ripping it's own skin and forcing its way free. The Reaper closed in again, the Ghost felt the serrated teeth of its attacker. The Reaper let its prey go for a moment, savoring the flavor of its new prey. The Ghost never fought anything before, it only preyed. The Reaper turned to face the Ghost. Its taste for blood only made it more aggressive. The Ghost lunged, catching the Reaper of gaurd this time. It used its surprise to bite a chunk out of the warrior leviathan. The Reaper swung its tail, knocking the Ghost back. The two rushed eachother, they missed, but they slashed eachother with the Ghost's head, and the Reaper's talon's. The Reaper loses its left eye while the Ghost is cut down the side of its body. The Reaper uses the pain for rage, and the rage for power. The Ghost attacks from the new blind spot, taking a massive chunk out of the Reaper's tail. It lunges and slams into the side of its predator. The Reaper is knocked backwards into the massive skull of the once Apex Predator. The Reaper roars and bolts. Its speed is too much for the Ghost, its sinks its talon's in and ripped outwards. The raw force of the Reaper rips open the Ghost's torso, its inside spilling out for the lesser to feed on, the Reaper however, takes the first bite.
    Reaper vs Ghost
    It made it home a while ago. It's scars spoke for themselves, not one of its kind dared to challenge it. Any foolish enough to do so was slaughtered swiftly. The Reaper was tired, it wanted new game. It didn't want to waste time on the weaker beast of the sea. Its scars ached, but seemed to do so only when they faced a certain direction. The Reaper took note of this and used it to find new prey. It swam for no more than a few minutes before it reached the edge. The void. It looked on, but it's one good eye couldn't see far. It swam on, it felt this was the right choice. It figured something was out here, something interesting. It's thoughts were answered as a familiar roar rang out in the abyss. The Reaper looked down to see a transparent blue behemoth. It lunged at the Reaper, sending it upwards. It went for a bite, but the Reaper narrowly escapes. It rears back and roars before it swim in, it's powerful talon's rake the belly of the beast. The Ghost leviathan swung it's head towards the Reaper, but the wounded warrior was too fast. It dodged and bit at the hide of the Ghost leviathan. This continued on for several minutes before the Reaper was hit. It's tail was grabbed and bitten off. The Reaper roared loud enough to catch the attention of another Ghost leviathan. One was deadly, two was death. The Reaper tried to swim away, but without its tail, it wouldn't get far. The Ghost leviathans closed in, they took a bit off all four of the Reaper's talons. The blood loss was too much, it was too slow, and now, the gates of hell opened to welcome it home.

    Correction; Reapers don't have an instant-death grab. All that happens is that the Reaper tries to melee-attack you; If that damage is enough to kill you after modifiers (modifiers like the Reinforced Dive Suit) then you get the grab-and-chomp animation. If the damage is *not* enough to kill you, there is no animation.
    Source: Me, after reading the OnTouch() method in the ReaperMeleeAttack class in the decompiled code.
    Aside: strangely-enough it seems that, at least of Living Large, the Reaper's Cyclops damage is 160, not 220. Again, the source is the ReaperMeleeAttack class in the code.

    0:09 I’m glad I watched this after I played below zero, many people in the subnautica community call chelicerate angry shrimps. I don’t know why. There’s a mod to get crater creatures like the reaper in sector zero, where chelicerate live. It’s in progress and reapers can’t be attack by other creatures and can’t attack creatures themselves, I’m pretty sure the last bacon did a video on that mod. The modding community has been asked by subnautica devs not to bring sector zero creatures to the crater, I don’t know why, but I think we should listen and just wait for the below zero mod to allow reapers and other creatures to fight.

    Personally I think this was a pretty bad take on the entire thing. You didn't look at the biology or build of each creature, what they're meant to kill etc. Its like comparing the Spino to the T-rex. The real Spino, not the Jurassic Park version. The Spino is very large but its jaws are very thin and its main prey is fish of various sizes. The T-rex has massive jaws and neck muscles, and is adept at killing prey even its own size give or take. It feels like you didn't really think about this and relied way to heavily on in game stats.
    The Reaper is literally built to do enormous amounts of damage to anything it can get its mandibles around. It can grab with enough pressure to rip submarines apart, whilst its jaws may not be the most effective thing for damaging something its own size, the mandibles could tear apart the flesh of nearly any animal it gets its hands on. Its telling that the only thing that really preys on them is the Sea Dragon Leviathan. The Sea Dragon probably outweighs the Reaper by MANY times, is more than twice the length, and has enormous jaws that would be perfect for grabbing the reaper, and dragging it down into the heat where it would quickly perish, not to mention the fire breath etc. The reaper could do some damage to the Sea Dragon but, the Sea Dragon is simply too massive and heavy to really fear one. Maybe 4 or 5 reapers could kill one, but then it could just retreat into the depths where its hot and the reapers wouldn't follow, they'd be killed by the heat.
    This brings us to the Ghost. Its literally not built like a predator. It has strong jaws yes, that could certainly kill a human, but its not really designed for that, its not its primary prey. It eats small organisms. Its main advantage and the way it could damage things is its sheer bulk and size. When it hits the Cyclops its damaging it from its sheer weight and speed hitting it, not because its jaws are purpose built for tearing metal. Whilst its size makes it formidable, its not built as a predator and loses its predatory instincts the larger it gets. The Reaper on the other hand is built to kill prey its own size. A Reaper could attack and kill another Reaper if it so wished, with the first good attack/ambush likely sealing the deal.
    While the Adult Ghost Leviathan could perhaps be too big for the Reaper to actually kill, it could certainly maim or do significant damage to it, but likely because they said it has no predators, probably the Reaper regards this prey as too large. A Juvenile would get ripped apart, the Reaper is pure muscle. I also thing its highly doubtful the much faster and smaller reaper could be killed by the Ghost Leviathan at full size either. I'm sure its bite could hurt the reaper but I doubt it could bite it enough times to actually kill it. The reaper could disengage at anytime.
