what if in the void there are currents so that if u are not careful you might get swept away or maby pulled closer to danger...

I know this is extremely nit-picky, and I'm sorry for that, the joke was funny, I just obsessively feel the need to point this out because viruses are overused in fiction, and bacteria are far scarier anyway.

@@TheUnimaterLp The game calls it a bacteria, many times. It's actually a very important aspect of how the Kharaa works, as it does things viruses cannot. This is only mentioned once in the whole game, so I don't blame people for not knowing this, but the Kharaa doesn't kill you on PURPOSE.
Instead, it ADDS ONTO your genetic code, causing rapid mutations (like the green blisters on your skin). It doesn't do this in a very effective or controlled way however, resulting in most creatures simply dying because they can't withstand suddenly growing extra organs. But it notably doesn't just outright kill EVERYTHING, because some creatures survive and pass on these extreme mutations as part of basic evolution. This is most noticeable in the Lava Zone, where we see both the largest number of infected creatures, and the CRAZIEST creatures, with the PDA constantly pointing out how strange and unheard of these kinds of animals are (like the Lava Lizards and Sea Dragons swallowing lava and using it as a weapon, the Lava Larva being able to survive on pure electricity, etc.) The implication is that these are likely traits CAUSED by Kharaa, and these species simply learned to live alongside it over many generations, and even benefit from the random changes it made. This doesn't mean they're IMMUNE to the bacteria, as they can still be infected, just that previous generations managed to pass on the new mutations as traits before dying, allowing their children to carry on those traits.
Some of this is just speculation, but most of it is leftover lore from back when the idea was to have Subnautica and Natural Selection (their other main game at the time) be in the same universe, where Subnautica was meant to act as a prequel. We can see in Natural Selection where the developers were going with this, and what happens when creatures DO manage to survive these extreme mutations. Since the entire writing team at Unknown Worlds has been replaced though, I'm not sure how much of that is canon anymore.

I didnt knew the games were connected. I knew that Natural Selection was a game from Unknown Worlds (of course i knew, i have a poster from it hanging in my trusty cyclops (which im proud of, i never lost)) but i didnt knew that a bit of the Lore was connected somehow.

@@TheUnimaterLp There are actually several connections between the games, though Natural Selection doesn't really have much of a direct story, and most of it's plot is in the environment and map descriptions.
Both games have Alterra in them, and both games mention the Trans-System Federation (the inter-government military meant to keep peace between the different trans-govs, you actually play as them on the human side in NS).
Both games also have the Kharaa in them, though it's very different in Natural Selection as it has evolved a lot since it broke the quarantine at some point on 4546B and started mutating different species from various planets, eventually becoming an intelligent hivemind capable of advanced planning and using it's mutations to create living biological weapons out of the species it infects
An earlier version of Below Zero (before the entire writing team was replaced and almost every part of the story was completely changed) actually explained how the bacteria escaped the planet, because you took a sample of it from the frozen leviathan and sent it up to a space station to be researched, but we later learned that it actually escaped a lab on that station, starting a mass evacuation of both the station and planet, presumably leading into the events of Natural Selection, but that's all been rewritten and in the current story you just...cure it, and that's that, so we don't know where on the timeline the two games are from each other now.
Cool creature concept: The corpse fall shark. its a shark that looks like an irl whale fall. most are actually corpses which give a resource, maybe their bones could act like a weak crystal, but some of the corpses are still alive and will ambush you when you come to close. i imagine they let some small fish feed on their skin to sell the illusion knowing that it will be worth it when they catch some larger prey. i think one of the tells that it is still alive is if a certain type of fish is feeding on it or not so that observant players can tell if it is really dead. it would probably live in sparse environments and have a fetid white coloration.

Maybe a living one could be swimming slightly so it doesnt actually sink to the bottom, so if you wait long enough you would see it swimming around slowly

feedback: you will need a biome that is and feels safe to make the player take a mental break resulting in them feeling more terrified at the next encounter with danger due to the sudden contrast

Hi, i love the idea of call o the void🥰. My little idea could be that on the farthest island could be skeleton of the void chelicerete, you would get PDA saying that it is fresh skeleton that was eaten alive.

Verticality may help a lot to make space in the limited map size. And parts of the base game Crater slope are too sudden of a drop, so you may be able to make the slopes more gradual with half-collapsed deep volcanic cave fissures (as sanctuary areas or predatory nests inside).
Creature-wise...the twice-cut Dragonfly Bird deserves love. It could maybe flying between the Mountains and the Floating Islands, giving a natural direction to those locations.
Compatibility-wise, ideally, Call of the Void would make use of the space around the Western map (Dunes/Sea Treaders Path), while Return of the Ancients would use space around Eastern Map (the Crash Zone/Crag Field/Bulb Zone)
I always assumed it would be situated somewhere around the northern blood kelp zone void boundary, close to where the underwater islands are (since they're thematically related).
The fact that he went out of his way just to add nordvpn "fish" shows how much effort he puts into videos!
Imagine owning a giant base in the void clusters between multiple islands that would be cool as heck
If they can get the planned leviathans to work the way they want to. It would be super difficult to keep a base of that size from getting attacked all the time. I feel like it’ll be quite difficult to build a base in the void until you’ve discovered some of the tech that can be utilized to defend and reinforce your base.

Like when you get really deep you dont want to build a base everytime. I think some Sort of energy Chrystal (sorry for my bad english) could be a good Solution.
I imagine that you need a specific module to charge up at the energy chrystals and then it works kind of like a heat reactor in the lava zone.

reminds me of the piezo crystal in barotrauma, so maybe this could be a hazard, that can be used for energy if you get the right things..
In Baro the piezo crystal is a harzard that will zap your submarine and destroy electrical systems through overvoltage.

Maybe the jellyfish could be a different type of Floater/Ancient Floater? Instead of hooking on the islands it’ll just float around and its tentacles will give shelter to symbiotic fishes like anemones and clownfish!

I'd love to see single cell biome
I had a dream once, where I was stuck on the edge of the void in the subnautica world. And as I’m looking down this pure white serpent with some weird corals on it comes up, stares at me, and then proceeds to chase me down and eat me. Terrible dream woke up drenched in sweat lol
The islands at the beginning are quite good, especially since you've got the Hydra right above one of them. And if you can place a hat on the hermits then that would be quite adorable!
I may be a bit late to this but I have two ideas
Your swimming to the next island, and it looks like a safe place, bright plants and food sources, and crystals everywhere. But as you get the close, the Mirage falls and you see a dangerous forest, and tentacles from the plant reach out the grab you and/or your sub. If you manage to escape, another creature is waiting to take you down instead. I thought this might add to the "thinking your safe for a moment but your really not" vibe to this mod.
For a creature idea, it's a smaller creature but it could be cool.
The Acidfish looks a Lionfish, but a longer tail and longer fins. It's main scales are gray or black, and it's accents being gray-blue.
You don't see this creature as it blends in well with its surroundings, to protect its self from predators, but if you go to close, it sprays an acid around its self as a defense, damaging the player and giving a slow damage affect even after you get away from the area. Hope you like these!
I just love that you love the game as much as I do. What I would also add is changing the recepies for regular items like knife, repair tool etc. We all start the game and we know exactly what to do for the first 2-3 days in subnautica before we start the jorney. Something like Realistic Craft 2.0 mod I think it would give a DLC-like update like this a fresh new look.

ive been a huge fan of yours ever since i got into subnautica and was always mildly hoping that you could put all of your creativity and ideas into something amazing like this

Maybe you could pull a little bit of inspiration from Below Zero with cold; the deeper and further out you go, the colder the water gets (like reverse lava zone). With the cold, you could either get a new type of suit to keep you warm outside bases/Hydra, or have some sort of heat generation that lets you swim by it, being thermal vents (which wouldn't make sense given the islands' disconnection from the planet's core), underwater versions of Thermal Lillies, or even a swimming creature that somehow producec heat.
One one hand, I’m really excited to explore the work you have in store and how you’ve changed up the base game.
On the other hand… I have gotten comfortable memorizing the layout of the original game and I’m still terrified of ocean exploration.
Still, this looks worth checking out!

Here’s a unique creature idea disguises itself as a normal edible fish but is an extremely dangerous predator similar to an anglerfish
The Hydra needs to play funky music while it’s being destroyed, just like the Cyclops, nothing like having a rave while everything around me collapses into nothingness
It's amazing that you succeeded in adding terrarin outside of the base map!
an idea for a creature is the void dragon. the concept for the ice dragon inspired this. it is bigger than the frozen leviathan. it looks kind of like a combination of the sea shocker, thunderdrum, and deathsong from how to train your dragon, but it is completely black with white bioluminescent spots. it is an ambush predator, and if you can lure another leviathan to it, it will go for that instead of you, and each time you do this, it has a one percent chance of taming the thing. supposedly, it is a distant relative of the gargantuan leviathan.
An idea for a new leviathan: Hermit Leviathan
If you dive underneath some of the islands (for some insane reason), some of them may have been partially hollowed out by a giant crustacean who now calls it home. Using its craggy exoskeleton and claws, it plugs the holes it digs into the islands and camouflages itself so you can't see anything unusual. When a suitable prey item swims close enough, it snaps out and grabs them in its pincers before dragging it in towards its mouth. I think this could be a really cool obstacle, especially if you put a resource exclusively available on the bottoms of the islands.
for the jellyfish it could be fun if there is an ancient version, thats overgrown and therefore looks like an island from afar
I don't know about anyone else but the concept of a large morray-like eel creature stalking me in deep dark water terrifies me. It could have lights on it that mimick harmless schools of fish to be unassuming. I would love to see something like that.

So... sharing a few ideas...
First, I don't imagin fish would be a common resorce to eat out here... so maybe a device that makes those food cubes ||Can't rememebr what they are called|| can be found... I can see it working in 2 ways. First, you take food products that can be prossesed, fish, seaweed, so on, stuff it into this machine, and it would basicly turn it into a nutrision cube for your enjoyment and long stable shelf life... or we make it like the Water Purifier you can build onto your walls in your base. Basicly take this thing, place it agenst the wall, it will harvest algee and other materials from the water, and slowly produce these cubes.
Second... how about we find the crashed ship... or parts of it, that came from the Sun Beam or from that exploration team that came before. I think it would be cool to ether have a ship spawn down there that you could explore and go through some air pockets digging around and hunting for resorces and maybe hoping for survivors.
Third, I always wondered what would modivate a Ghost Leviathan to lay its eggs so far away from where it lives, so what if you made a monster that is ment to hunt the Ghosts. I kind of am thinking of this slug or catapiller looking thing that would have long tendrals on its back, where its goal would be to reach out and maybe spray some kind of chemical to make getting away harder... And I think it would be interesting if it where to ignore the player if they are on their own, using the sea glide or maybe even the sea moth... but go bigger and you grab its attention because its not worth it for something that big to get all moving and exited for something small, its better off eating and fighting the bigger meals.
The islands already look very amazing.

Ok, this might sound weird but... what if there was a patch of iceberg that drifted from the place in below zero and had those arctic reaper concept fish from when below zero was coming out, it probably doesn't make sense but you could say it appears in the void, idk but think about it please, also you guys are doing a great job!😁
Just seeing these first couple of fishes and the unfinished terrain with the droning, distinctly alien and somehow mesmerizing music in the background is reminding me of how I felt when I first saw the early builds of Subnautica. You seem to have a very good understanding of what makes this game special. Keep up the good work.

I swear if you make water spiders I’m going to scream
Imagine there is some sort of creature similar to the sandshark but its got a lure for the player and other creatures, maybe something shiney or glowy on that lure. If its something shiny then probobly a much needed resource that the only way to tell the difference is with a certain sound cue or if its glowy then a new food in this biome that the player can eat. A name for this idea of a creature would be the sangler (sandshark angler)

This could even be better than return of the ancients and we know your progress on the mod because of your RUclips channel and I don't even know if call of the void is gonna come out anymore also you could add a really deep Island that is very very far down in the void and it could be very very dark down there but Lots of treasure down there
At this point the developers of Return of the Ancients should just drop the Garg for 2.0 for everyone.
The mod may not be absolute perfect and balanced, but it is so far the greatest mod to exist I guess and everyone wants to play it.
Better of with some awesome content, than now with nothing...
You know what, I've been (quietly) extremely skeptical of tne viability of this mods scope and with the addition of custom terrain and fish models a lot of that skepticism has melted away. Nice work!
Something I think you could use for a creature/the story of your mod are the warpers, they are intelligentsia and where without precursor supervision for 1000 years, maybe you could do something like a village of warpers, or small society, when you are infected you will until be attacked, but when you cure the planet you can interect with they like trade (can be similar of trade with piglings on Minecraft) or do Other things, hope I help😅

I love it. Your doing a great job… I’m tight on money but boy would I love to work with you guys on this… this is incredible why not just make a new game? On like UE5 or something? Lol
Creature idea: the vanta Ray. Similar to the glow Ray or the ghost Ray. Except instead of glowing it is vanta black to avoid predators and only becomes visible in a cuttlefish pattern when eating other fish.
imo it’d be cool (but also a bit tricky since it’d need some custom voice acting) to add a sunken lifepod on one of the void islands.
also, a really cool easter egg would be a scannable bit of damaged metal plating with degasi partially written on it. scanning it would give the player a tiny bit more (albeit noncanon) degasi lore, as well as showing what the ship looked like.
I have an idea for one of the Hydra modules. What if you could build small crystal-powered drones that you could use to explore areas, kind of like the Scanner Room cameras, except with the ability to aggro leviathans so that you could lure them away from areas. I also feel like the cameras should be able to pick up resources, kind of like an underwater version of Below Zero’s Spy Pengling, so maybe the drones could be used to gather rare resources?

It would be cool to have a little bug that scampers around the islands and acts as both a little food source, and maybe makes little nests that have some resources in them, perhaps resources that don't naturally spawn anywhere else on the islands, like rubies, so players dont have to keep running back and forth to their main bases.
