Wait, the Caddy is actually yours? Congrats, bro! Hope you'll have thousands of accident-free miles and tons of fun while you own it!
It's been for a few months now.
@F P he's probably new or doesn't watch his videos that often.
Thank you! I'm loving it
@@MilesPerHr McDonalds be like
@@MilesPerHr damaaamn you picked the wrong car shoulda got the m5c
I'm a BMW guy, I have a M340, but that Blackwing is a beautiful car. I love that color. It would definitely be hard to choose between the two and I don't think you could go wrong with either.
I have not seen one car review of the Blackwing where the reviewer did not giggle during acceleration. That’s what fun to drive is all about.
THIS ☝🏻💯🙌🏻
Same here which is why I ordered one without even driving it.
@@downeys1how is it?
Just look at the way that M5 runs through 1st gear 😮💨 madness
It's so. fast.
@@MilesPerHr 😂😂😂 you have the dream job,
I think I would also choose the CT5 along with you, im a big fan of the comfortable rides.
I agree with your verdict. I test drove an M3 and thought the steering feel and manual transmission felt sterile in comparison to the Ct4 Blackwing I ended up purchasing. Best car I've ever driven.
Enjoy that CT4 BW!
CT4 V Blackwing is the best sports car you can get for the money, no contest!
You made the Right choice
Like all German cars the bmws are over engineered
Yall should watch the m3 vs ct4 blackwing race on Sam CarLegion. Blackwing gets obliterated by a m3. U might like the old man caddy more but the bmw is faster.
Love that Caddy - you made the right choice - I’d have done the same thing! Love the 6MT, carbon extras and that bodacious electric blue paint job! ‘Merica can make a great sport sedan when we put our minds to it! Congrats on your beautiful new whip!
Bodacious is one of my favorite words, and I think it suits the color perfectly. Thanks, Greg!
‘Merica vs Japan Head to Head?
I just love you reviews both from a content and format standpoint- they’re super informative and also super entertaining. As a died-in-the-wool Honda/Acura owner who’s roots are all Caddy (my parents had Caddys and I learned to drive in them), I would absolutely love to see you do a head to head review (like the one above) between the Acura TLX Type S and the CT5V (non-Blackwing). I have driven both numerous times and I’m torn on which one to purchase. They are so very similar in many ways yet also so very different. Your insights would be fascinating and I’ll bet there are others who might find this an interesting comparison too. Thanks for your wonderful reviews!
I want the CT5-V. It would also be much cheaper to maintain.
Why would it be much cheaper to maintain?
Both manufacturers did amazing with these cars. couldn’t go wrong with either
Amen!
but the M5 is still better
@@junyaiwase better on 0-60, but the ride is worse, it costs more, it will depreciate more and it is slower on a track. So considering all the aspects of both cars including price, Cady is the better car.
@@silimarina. lol not the m5 CS
@@Tm0n3y762 yes m5 cs is slower on a track, and is a lot more expensive.
Great review. Was on a waiting list for the Blacking for over 9 months. Ended up getting an M5 comp. Both great cars!
I have a M5 Comp; however, Blackwing is a great car! I will not have a problem owning one.
You've got a winner
I’m really loving these comparison videos. Also your shifts are very crispy 😮
I'm glad you like them - more to come!
These are some of the best looking sports sedans on the road today, but I'd probably go with the blackwing because I love the design profile of Cadillacs
outside of the front and rear the CT5 doesn’t project Cadillac…
@@mryouknooow how so?
@@mergat2970 The side profile, especially the C pillar doesn’t project Cadillac IMO.
@@mryouknooow yea I can see what you mean caddy was definitely going for a more European design
Cadillac all the way baby.. !!!! The Standard of the World. !!!
blackwing is a monster but i personally prefer the m5
True. Just a shame thet the M5 isn't available with a manual. But the M5 looks so awesome, and probably drives more refined.
Overall the Blackwing would be the pick, but as a car guy you know well to go for the M5
@@v.s.727 The previous M5 F10 was available as a manual in the US. I think BMW stopped the manuals because the people are in love with the ZF8.
Yes, the F10 was in the US available as manual. But I don't get why they sold the manual in America. They can't drive manuals anyways! I still think it would be nice to have a manual option. But I'm pretty sure, that BMW doesn't have a awd compatible manual transmission.
Blackwing is faster there's videos
The Cadillac, at its price point, is beyond a great value. Prob the first time I’d ever consider getting a Cadillac. The M5 is no joke either, and my god, this generation of sport sedans is beautiful
You never wanted a CTSV, ATSV, STSV ?
While I am a BMW guy, it would still be hard for me to choose. I like the interior of the m5 better even though it is a little dated, but I like the sound of the Blackwing more. Still, two very nice sport sedans that anyone would love to own.
Well said!
The cadillac is a novelty; the only reason to buy one is because your buddy already has the M5.
Agree 100%
@@stitch438 or because it has a manual?
@@MilesPerHr the previous gen CTSV actually have a better interior then this CT5V blackwing. Had rear climate control, rear fully automatic sunshades with rear passenger doors and rear glass, suede and alcantara EVERYWHERE along with carbon fiber trim when you check all the boxes of options.
Great job -- excellent comparison review!
I'm glad you liked it!
I like the Caddy more 🤩
Ct5 blackwing...chassis and suspension is superior it seems. Almost every car reviewer discovers that.
I like more the Blackwing.
Yea I’m taking a manual Super charged 4 door V8 with out a question
That M color is the best I’ve seen in decades!
When it comes to a sedan in this class 'Merica all day long by a mile no competition
M5 comp is $130-155k in my city
my 18' M550i xdrive was $46k with 20k miles and its plenty quick. Nice cars lotta $
2 of my dream cars!!!
I prefer the Caddy and i think that color don’t make justice for her. All metallic black it’s a different beast.
that's a beautiful colors on bmw.
I’ll take the caddy. Well done. Enjoy- you have absolutely great taste!
I like Beamz but I would too
I’ll take that black wing any day.
I got a 2022 M5 Comp and Love it, but saving money to get the 6 speed Caddy CT5 Blackwing later this year
Wow, that's gonna be a sweet pairing!
Cadillac interiors are criminal at $50k let alone $125 k
I loved your video. Thanks for the honest review. I do agree with the manual transmission. I want a manual transmission as well without having a 2017 model car. Good job GM.
Cadillac ❤
@MilesPerHr. Dude this was a very informative side by side comparison of some epic super sedans. I was wondering does the Marino Leather in the M5 smell like highend leather when you open the doors? I was also wondering how come you did not tick the box for the PDR option on your Blackwing. Thanks Tim
I have a ‘22 M5C with Individual Tartufo leather which has additional leather on the seat backs and console. It smells unbelievably good.
The leather smelled great in the M5! Didn't go with PDR because I wasn't convinced I'd be tracking my car. I have a Miata race car for the track :)
@@MilesPerHr Awesome Thanks for the Reply :) 😀😀😀
2024 Blackwing is like nothing I’ve ever driven, including my 2009 CTS V.
Think someone likes the BMW. I drove an x3 and just a 4 cylinder. It was awesome.
If the CT5 had an M xDrive like the M5, where you can switch from AWD to RWD on a whim, it would make for a great proposition imo.
Great comparison mate! I chose the M5 Comp. But that manual, wow. Too bad it’s not AWD. I’m from Toronto so that’s a necessity for me 4 months of the year. Additionally, I just love the look and feel of premium the the M5C just oozes. Best
Both beautiful vehicles, and congratulations on the caddy enjoy that beauty. M5 for me tho
Thanks Mike. Nothing wrong with that M5, that's for sure!
Having not ever driving any of these vehicles, but watching numerous videos. It seems like pound for pound, the BMW is a better vehicle, but dollar for dollar, the Caddy is a way better vehicle.
I think I would get the Cadillac, for the manual transmission.
I went with the BMW M5 Competition. Partially because both GM dealers were rude and pushy which I won’t tolerate. The BMW dealership was beyond belief. We were offered drinks upon entering and allowed to shop for about 30 minutes before a salesman approached. There was no pressure and the salesman answered every question asked. The M5 has turned out to be the most enjoyable car I have owned, and I was a dyed in the wool Corvette owner after having 5 of them.
My BMW store was great. They knew what I was dealing with trying to secure a BW and as a result went above and beyond to earn my business.
I've bought from both and generally find BMW dealerships more consistently good. Fortunately, I have a great one of each locally for servicing our cars.
I was fortunate to have a direct contact at GM to make my buying experience smooth, but I've heard GM dealers can be pushy.
@@MilesPerHr nice. I hope I can get that experience here in Texas as I am looking to get a 2024 CT5BW. Know of any direct GM contacts in Texas? I've been on the list since summer of 2022🤦. My patience is running low and I am reluctant to order a 2024 M5CS .
Awesome cars. Really, really good review, as always. Context for my comment: I've driven both, and as the owner of a GT3, I realize this is a really a driving review, not an overall. These cars aren't competitors. The BMW is a 1-car, daily driver, and SpaceX backup rocket. Commuting? Really want a manual? AWD? Don't say there's no snow in SoCal. You would have slid right into the front door of the Norton Simon a couple months ago. Tech? No way you find Wild Oats with the Caddy's nav. I applaud how the Caddy drives. Great engine. Whereas BMW sandbags on power and specs, GM always exaggerates. The Caddy looks great and truly captures the spirit of the Cien (god bless Ewan McGregor), the template for the current Cadillac Designsprache. After having driven both for long stints, the Caddy conundrum asserts: I have to live in my car--that commute I talked about. I know Caddy pulls from the GM parts bin, but they also make the Escalade. The Caddy's infotainment system and screen pull right from a 2010 BMW 1-Series. At $100K+, this is not your second car. It's your daily. Caddy should have redesigned the dash, and spent some of that much-talked-about savings on making the interior befitting of a $100K car. You commute and errand-drive 90% of the time, canyon carve 10%, but live with the interior 100% of the time.
I don´t know how it is in the US but in Germany the M5 Comp. puts out on the dyno a max. power from over 670 HP 😅
Yup, seen one put down 607 WHP on a dyno. 617bhp (625CV) is the GUARANTEED power. The minimum you'll get.
@@whotf888 👍
Not surprised!
As a German, I find disrespectful comparing the M5 to that hot wheels....
I tried to purchase a BW but my local dealer sucks. After much frustration, I went to my local BMW store and ordered an M5C.
Love my Comp but I’m still going to drive a BW sometime. Waiting to see how the refresh looks for ‘24.
That's irritating! Hopefully you get to buy a '24 if the look is right. Until then, enjoy the M5C!
Thanks, Miles! Enjoy your BW, I’m jealous! To my dealers credit, they did offer me their 120 edition but it would have been $150k as optioned. My M5 was 135 and I told them that was my upper limit.
I started trying to place my order for the Caddy 3/21. So frustrating! Congrats and best wishes. Love the channel.
Cadillac was very frustrating…they could not confirm it would be made in 2024, it took a bit of searching but I bought one out of Oklahoma and they hauled it covered out to Colorado. I love the car, but in hindsight I would have waited and placed an order. Anyhow, I got almost all the options I wanted.
How would the BW compare to the M5 CS?
Which one is faster?? And which one do you prefer??
I rather have the black wing
M5 look so good
Amazing Cadillac!!!
BMW M5 Comp all day long. Three reasons. First, its German engineered and built in German by Germans. They are fanatics about precision. Not so in an American auto union factory. Second, its awd....simply safer and practically unbeatable from a dig on a real normal street vs rwd. Third, its more like 700hp crank, 617 more likely to the wheels. Yes, its more expensive...but its way more car and way better engineering.
I love both ☝️
Not even close I’m taking that 6 speed 7 days a week and twice on Sundays
M5 is better 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
And congratulations on the cadillac, awesome car too!
Man I love your Backwing. I have one and i’m have the hardest time trying to get the build in surround video recorder to read my SD card. What kind of SD card are you using to get yours to work?
I had the same issue! My problem was that I was using too large a card. Moved down to a 32GB card formatted in FAT32 and it worked!
Cadillac CT5 V Blackwing would be my choice.
For me CT5V Blackwing all the way because it still comes with a manual. Even if you are a pleb who doesn't prefer the sport of driving, you can't deny that the manual version will be worth between 20% and 40% more than it's automatic brethren in 10+ years.
Where does the card go for the SVR surround video recorder)?
In the trunk
Love the caddy
The blackwing is faster. However, the way GM did its throttle mapping, even in track mode, is less aggressive. I've tuned both in stock configuration. The ct5 has sooo much bottom end they tuned the boost bypass conservatively.
Dream carr
What are the IR lights for on the central cluster on the M5? Right above the M logo they periodically come on.
Attention monitoring system
The BlackWing is so much more aggressive looking man 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
We dont have these cadillac in europe they look good and offer great performance and sound. Interior also improved alot compared to a 08' mustang for exemple.
i guess the M5 is more agile though corners but i like the Cadillac because i dont see it often its more original
No. The Cadillac was quicker around the track than the CS version on many tracks. CT5 V blackwing is a track oriented sports sedan.
Please make a review on Huracan Sterrato, btw love your videos ❤
I hope to review it one day!
m5 for me
it's just better in most areas
Is the video recorder option on the Blackwing standard? Or does it require the PDR option?
It’s standard, you just need to supply and format the SD card. The PDR is an option I wish I had though.
I would really like to see the 10 speed blackwing against the m5.
sooo muchh of love from indiaa brohhh🫶🏽🫂
Blackwing for me
When you have the money and the choice infront of you trust me youre going with the m5 😅
Not always true. Many perfer the V8 sound of the Cadillac CT5 V blackwing and manual transmission
Cadillac🥲🥲I loveee it
I don't agree with your choice, but both are amazing cars. as a E39 owner I can just imagine the F90 power.
Man u gotta watch for tickets in Silverado Canyon..:)
Good morning my neighbors 😂 hope everyone has a blessed weekend
I love this channel, and this is the video I've been wanting to see, but 30 fps please!? I have to be at home in order to have the bandwidth to play this at 50 fps.
30 fps? Sounds like a buffering issue for ya. I film all my videos at 60 fps in 4K
For $13,000 less, the CT5 V Blackwing more than held it's own!
Sico specs on the M5👌🏼
BMW has always underrated the horsepower in their cars
As many have said, both fantastic cars and can’t go wrong with either. They go about doing their jobs differently! One is a German Engineered clinical hammer with scalpel precision, and the other is a brash no excuses communicative muscle car that happens to do everything pretty darn well!
We chose the M5!
The Caddy interior is a little cheap feeling to me and not so special, and it’s styling will likely be dated in a few years, but it is the last of the great muscle cars! We found the back seat to be pretty unusable for an average sized adult, the M5 is bigger and better for rear passengers.
The M5 is next level in every way other than steering feedback, which many say is linear and somewhat vague! Experts say that engine horsepower for what the car is able to do is likely in the mid 700s and they feel like it! I really enjoy the tech on the BMW! Between mode selection, 2WD, AWD, the IP/ heads up display, Driver Assit Pro drives the car without any driver intervention, the B&W Audio system is world class, Massaging seats, etc. The BMW is classier and will still be something to behold in 10 years from a styling point of view.
While the CT5V starts under $100k you won’t find one for that and they are really priced pretty similarly. As such, I believe the M5 is the better car and buy.
Cost of minentaince between them
@@tesmith47 yes, this is something that should be considered!
Pretty easy and less expensive to maintain the LS in the caddy.
M5c is a better looking car and for this reason only I would choose the BlackWing
wow that BMW is insane... it produces less horsepower, weighs more, AND gets to 60, 0.6 seconds faster! Not to mention slightly better fuel economy!
AWD + lower displacement definitely pays dividends with acceleration and mpg
A blackwing already beat a m5cs dude and beat a e63s
@@issavibez394 in what though? All Google sources show that the 0-60 times for the ct5 blackwing even in the current 2023 model year is 3.4 seconds which is still quite a bit slower than the bmw. 7.1 seconds 0-100 mph in the ct5 and 6.2 seconds 0-100 in the bmw. That second or so may not seem like much but it does feel quiet a bit quicker! What holds the ct5 back like Miles said is AWD! And actually the Mercedes E63S claims to do the 0-60 mph in 3 seconds. So that guy is also faster than the caddy. I imagine that guy also has an awd option so that’s the difference.
Both. But caddy provides great value while m5 is best in class. I'd take either any day. Signed: a b58 enjoyer
Not sure the caddy is a great value at $125k; if anything it looks severely out classed against the M5.
@@stitch438 caddy is the faster car on a track, so no it is not out classed
The CT5, surprisingly, doesn't sound much louder than the BMW.
1. Both are overkill unless you travel in unpopulated areas. 2 Farting turbo wastegates vs supercharger whine (blech) = sub par sounds. 3. Lexus GSF, Dodge Charger… plenty enough. 4. Tesla if you really just want the most impressive numbers (snore….).
Cadillac looks more better than bmw also bmw look killer i m purely bmw fan so i love bmw but but also main important thing cadillac also very powerful car wow i don't accept him from cadillac site bouth car are nice
Unexpected, but the CT5 is faster on some circuits.
Sporting comparisons are more important than insulting each other. As a BMW fan, I think it's good to have a new competitor - see CT4 BW and M3 Comp.
Bruh his shifts are the fastest I’ve ever seen 😂😂😂
no lift shift makes me look good!
2.9 seconds are you kidding me!
Sounds like the British commentator when Messi dribbles past the defense and makes a goal.
The Caddy is my choice - just because it can be gotten (Words Wednesday!!) as a manual. Unfortunately, BMW, still being one of the long-term proponents of the manual gearbox, for some reason stopped offering manual boxes combined with all wheel drive (xDrive) starting with the end of E6x generation (the next gen after that - my car - F11 - is impossible with AWD and a manual - but an E60/61 - still was). Speaking of AWD and manuals - also audi is culpable of this same sin - it stopped offering/manufacturing manuals with quattro starting from relatively the same generation (C7) - while in the previous version - C6 - quattro with a manual was still possible, so in line with the BMW 5 series of the same era. Weird how that works. The newer era (C7) was still possible with FWD and a manual. As for Merc - it stopped offering a manual with LARGE DIESELS (ie, 2.7/3 litre) already in the W211 generation (starting 2002) - and I'm not sure if you could still get a smaller 4cyl 2litre diesel - and 4matic - and a manual (you still could get a manual - for a very long time, even in the W212 generation incl. its facelift - with smaller engines, like the E250 CDI, edited: with RWD only). This manual sidenote aside (wow..... words) - the Caddy I suppose would be more reliable long-term - like really long term, probably 10 years or so. For BMW it will always be leaky vacuum and oil lines, bad electrical cabling, masses of errors and resetting them. The bimmer still looks better (which is a rare exception - rather than a rule - if you talk about modern BMW, by the way - the (expectedly) horrific-looking insect-eyed new 5-series is to officially debut tomorrow - May 24, 2023), but the Caddy doesn't look bad, either. Either way - thanks for the video, good choice for the Detroit's Finest - writing from the glorious country of Latvia.
Black wing for me
if `ride quality` is a concern. maybe a competition model isn`t something you should compare the blackwing to
m5 without the package or an 550i saves quite a bit of cash and are more practical
M5 comp all day even though the CT5 Blackwing is definitely an amazing car, it just doesn't keep up with the supercar performance of the M5 Comp, which is all wheel drive so 0-60, 0-100, quarter mile time is always gonna beat the CT5, and on the track it also takes the blackwing.
Edit: the CT5 seems like the more fun and engaging car especially in stickshift, it also sounds better than the M5, it's definitely a tough choice but I still slightly lean towards the M5 just cause I feel like AWD is much more daily drivable and usable during bad weather conditions, and the extra tech amenities such as 3D view and climate control in the rear of the interior makes it feel a tiny bit more luxurious than the CT5
0-60 and midrange is definitely in the AWD M5's favor, but the Blackwing actually posts quicker lap times around Willow Springs (per Hagerty).
Already seen a blackwing smoke a m5cs and mercedes e63s which lost to a blackwing
🎉🎉🎉
Let me what y’all taking M5 comp or Blackwing and why just curious
I am American bias but if I weren't, the AWD on the M5 makes it a little more drivable here in these New York winters. RWD cars are sitting in a garage for half the year here. (Yes, you do see a couple here and there when the roads clear up but certainly not in a blizzard!) So which would I choose? I really really hate to say it... But I think I would go with the M5. 😣
The BMW have that frantic pants on fire feel but trust and believe that blackwing will smoke it on a track
A magazine actually lapped both cars on some track, and the Blackwing actually went faster. It's somewhere on YT.
Haggerty did a comparison vid.
@@whotf888 well obviously, the blackwing is way more track focused lol. More of a track car then a family sedan.
@@whotf888 I think that was the Hagerty vid vs the M5 CS (not Comp). The M5 CS is a big step up for sure, allocations are probably scarce.
Being that all cars are coming faster and faster and with all these bells and whistles both these cars have a perfect price of the Cadi 40Gs and the BMW 50Gs they are nuts with the prices they are selling these cars for.
The light Blue looks better!!
I wish they would compare the Cadillac automatic vs these other vehicle automatics. Every reviewer is rowing gears, then ding it for time etc...
I have a blackwing (Auto) and i launch it in 3s flat and I eat m5s for breakfast
