    2024 M5 Comp:
    625 Horsepower (V8 engine)
    750 Feet Pound of Torque
    1,865kg (4,111 pounds)
    2025 M5:
    577 Horsepower (V8 S68 engine)
    553 Feet Pound of Torque
    192 Electric Power
202 Feet Pound of Torque from Electric
    2,435kg (5,368 pounds)
The 2025 M5 is significantly heavier, for obvious reasons. Nevertheless, once you run out of your electric battery charge (25-mile range), you are left with only 577 V8 horsepower to push a 5,368-pound car. What a disaster! And the rest, I am not sure where to go with it. What is up with not having a gear lever?
I don’t think BMW is listening to their customers and clients anymore. Every interview they feed us a bunch of BS and the interviewers are afraid to ask tough questions. The BMW may fool new buyers, but not the BMW enthusiasts and the people who are loyal to the brand. You can’t fool us.
Cheap plastic door panels, plastic carbon fiber-looking paddle shifts, and no carbon fiber steering. Yet, all of which is available on the M3 and M4 models.
The rear diffuser truly looks like an afterthought. And the front kidney grill is identical to the i5 M60. What is joke! And I am sure BMW has increased the price beyond any measure to match the rest of the model lineups.

And hear Joe say at 6:55 "Jumping in here it's beautiful in here", NO, all those LCD screens and shiny lights look ghastly, this interior is nowhere near beautiful, it is shiny I can give them that. I know that this is a standard nowadays (I am looking at you mercedes) but that doesn't mean it looks great. That's why all those upper luxury brands try to avoid LCD screens as much as it is possible because that doesn't look good.

    • @kishlayverma6622
      @kishlayverma6622 5 месяцев назад +12

Although I do agree the car is a significant downgrade from the f90 m5, it's really more of a different take 9n the m5, it's more of a luxury saloon than a go kart handling 4 seat sports car which was the opposite for f90. Another thing I'd like to point out is that the battery would never run out of power as the engine will star recuperating it once the charge is low, it won't let you full 730hp but you won't be left with just 577hp.

Joe who’s driven quite a few BMW’s seems impressed. Let’s reserve judgments for more objective tests and data. If it’s slower than the F90 then it’s indeed a fail. What’s exciting is this may truly only be a tune and e85 away from 1,000 combined horsepower.

@@Bimmer_Bill my biggest problem is that it's not just about how quickly it can go in a straight line, for that you have a electric car, you cannot get past physics and 2.4 tons will make this slower around a track without a doubt, the instant acceleration might be impressive but when we are talking lap times the weight is going to be a huge problem.

I'm trying to embrace the new 5 series model and being an F90 M5 Comp owner I know things have to move on, however I just don't like it. There's no specific reason and I will probably grow into it (like the new fronts of the M3, etc), but for the moment I would rather spend my money on the F90. Speed and BHP isn't everything, and it sounds like the V8 engine in the new one has to rely on the electric motors to push it past the stock BHP of the F90 M5 Comp. The dash also looks very much like any other new model BMW (My son has a new 220i BMW and the dash is identical) so apart from the M1 and M2 buttons there's not much difference there either. So I'm glad they have bought out a new version M5 as it needs to have come, but disappointed with my initial thoughts. Oh, and where is the sound!?!? The only sound in the cabin I can hear sounds fake! Thanks for your video Joe, always very good and always very honest... 10/10 for the video, but probably a 2 or 3/10 for the car. Obviously this is my own opinion.

Front looks aggressive, but you can see their doing what Audi have done for years, and by that I mean kenetic design elements, from the new 1 series to Thai the fronts look similar.

I am not opposed to plug in, or EV, or alt fuel, or completely ICE. All flavors have their place. And I appreciate their unique flavor as an automotive.
But I do wish this trend of ever heavier cars stops, no matter which type of motor or fuel type is powering it. Besides light weight, I want them to engineer back the steering feel/feedback that they engineered out,all in name of improved tech. Today’s cars are far more numb and void of man to machine interactive connection.
I will hold my verdict on this car till I drive it. But for me the weight gain is a huge negative.

Great overview thanks. I am attracted to this I have to admit. I like the fact that it's hybrid. I mean I could do all my daily in-city driving just on electric power. That is kind of priceless. It is one reason why I was eyeing the new Mercedes E class hybrids but didn't ultimately go in that direction because, well I'm not an octogenarian. The M5 on the other hand seems pretty much drawback free. You get supercar performance more or less and you get that in a car you can drive every day. The weight is a non issue on the road. On a track maybe I don't know. But this is a road car. Would make for an amazing road tripper here in the US.

It is not a quality finish, it does not give the impression of a premium vehicle as it is found on the cheapest of vehicles these days. Oh and if you even look in its direction it scratches! its extremely impractical for both the interior and exterior of any vehicle.

My first ever job was in a BMW dealer in 1995. I worked in the dealer network for about 12 years and got to use some of their most iconic cars. I owned a 2006 M3 CS in Interlagos Blue in 2009 which was close to the pinnacle of M cars. A screaming straight 6 with over 100BHP per CC.
I think this is absolutely ridiculous. 2.5 tonnes! BMW have thrown all their true performance values out of the window. I'd buy a second hand Porsche Taycan Turbo S which is faster and prettier than that because they're mega cheap used, then find a beautiful V8 E90 M3 from 2010, have it fully serviced as a weekend warrior. Or maybe find a mint low mileage E46 M3, or maybe an E39 manual M5. And I think i'd still have £10k change after you spec that hideous thing up. Oh dear.

From what I've read and from my understanding of what makes a car handle good, the extra weight being the batteries under the floor actually helps with the way it drives. The batteries significantly lower the center of gravity making the car feel more planted and more confidence inspiring to the driver. Now if they could figure out how to get the weight back down while keeping the batteries and the center of gravity low, it be a millions times better of a car. It's still a boat after all.
