Watching that as a kid I had no clue what he was talking about until I had grown up over the years and slowly learning what he was mentioning. The things that went over my head lol
Time Force on the PS1 was one of the first video games i ever received as a child and the theme still gets stuck in my head time to time randomly lmfao.
I loved the Wild Force gba game as a kid. I remember being so satisfied when the monster freezes then explodes after the zord battle. I grew up with Dino Thunder, and there was a video rental place down the street that had a bunch of stuff from previous seasons on VHS, plus Jetix would rerun older seasons. So Power Rangers was a massive cornerstone for my childhood.
Battle for the grid is for sure the most underrated modern fighting game. First game to introduce rollback net code and full platform cross play together too. Developers truly cared about the series and the fighting game community.
And then the production company tried to get into NFTs and everyone jumped ship, which was a smart move for the devs. Still sad we never got a Goldar Maximus skin.
The original Mighty Morphin and MMPR movie games for the Game Gear, Genesis, and SNES were all really solid as well. Worth checking out. Big parts of my childhood.
YES! I just mentioned the Game Gear games, in my comments. I came to own about 9-12 games for that system, in total; the MMPR games were by far the best made and my favorite. I played them for HOURS.
Dino Thunder was nostalgic for me because my game disc stopped working at one point. Seeing this video, I realize I didn’t miss much but it will always hold a special place in my heart
The American power rangers had a decent success rate yeah there were fumbles at times like Turbo and alien rangers but more often than not they did their thing and made legends in actors and made their actors major ⭐️ in the making but by Megaforce that’s when things in the booking start to get more ridiculous.
You know the Power Rangers game I put so many hours in as a kid? Power Rangers Fighting Edition for the SNES. Goldar, the Shogun Megazord, White Tiger Zord, and Lord Zed were my favorites. Goldar was number 1 for me, his theme slams. Also Ivan Ooze was a secret character, had to beat him on hard to get the secret code to unlock him. I can't believe I slept on the Power Rangers Fighting for the Grid, I would've had a field day with that game.
Dude, same, I loved the SNES fighting game with zords (my favorite was the Ninja Megazord), and I highly recommend Battle for the Grid if you liked that. It's pretty easy to pickup and have fun with friends or arcade/story mode. Playing online can be a bit rough though. You may get demolished.
@@MateusDrake Ninja Megazord had some pretty solid combos for sure. Nice, will definitely give it a try, don't know if I'll tackle online, but yeah I know how it goes there, some matches you get paired with can be unforgiving.
oh man, watching this video kinda made me well up a bit. All these games except the new ps4 one were part of my childhood. Especially all those game-boy ones and the overdrive one. Thanks for making this video. What an absolute gem
2:52 I found out that these illustrations do have colors in other merchandising, specially in European DVDs. Also, I 'm looking for Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue comics that were european exclusive.
I loved how Dino Thunder had two different games (the handheld lets you use the Rangers and the console versions let you use the zords).🎉 And I still can't get over how I never got to play any version of Super Legends😢
Matty,I think you might have forgot one. It's called Might Morphen Power Rangers: Mega Battles. It came out on PS4 and Xbox One. It's a side scrolling beat em up, which turned episodes of the TV show into levels.
The 3 MMPR games that I played and loved you did not include in this video. I highly recommend these: 1. MMPR: The Movie (SNES) Fun 1-2P co-op beat 'em up 2. MMPR and MMPR: The Movie (Game Gear) These games were worth the money! Both include a story mode and a street fighter type vs mode. In vs mode, you could fight as a suited ranger, a zord, or one of the enemy monsters. Now, I realize that by today's standards it probably wouldn't impress most players, but back then the visuals and sound were awesome, not to mention how much game they were able to pack into a handheld system that only had a directional pad and 2 action buttons!! In story mode, you started the game as a suited up Ranger. You could perform a special attack (down + forward + one or both of the action buttons), which would use that rangers original weapon, like the pink rangers bow or the blue rangers spear. The second half of the stage would be the zord battle.
That Ninja Storm GBA game was very good for a GBA game. It has separate exclusive levels (and even paths for the same game) for each team The Wind Rangers, The Thunder Rangers, and the Samurai Ranger. The combat is very decent and the boss fights were fun too. The Mech battles were meh tho.
20:05 this game is cool, but it has very little stages, sound tracks and extra offline modes. Man, they could do a little beat em up style extra mode to unlock stuff, from comic arts, video clips, some characters skins, you know, just a little something to play offline and enjoy would be nice.
Oh man. These were the times as a kid. I got power rangers Dino thunder as my very first game for the game boy advance. Spent hours on it and I’ve even played it through an emulator a month ago. I had my game boy and all my games all through my highschool days. Recently they got lost to time after living on my own but the nostalgia. I’m 26 and one of the things I watched as a kid was power rangers. Didn’t realize Dino thunder had another port besides the game boy advance version. In that one it’s platform than a puzzle to get another Zord for your zord boss battles. I remember writing down the passwords to be able to continue when my batteries would die . Also trying to guess the three letter code to advance in the game where I haven’t been yet was part of the fun in the GBA era. Figuring out FLM was the last zord battle with a zord arm. Thanks for this throw back man. Definitely check out the Dino thunder version on the game boy advance . Also the time force I had for the game boy but Dino thunder was my favorite.
The Dino Thunder one is my fave loved playing as zords and the unlockable Ninja Storm and Wild Force stuff was amazing wish we would get more zord games
The only Power Rangers game that I had when I was a kid back then was Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue on the Nintendo GameBoy Color handheld system in the early 2000s. It was when Power Rangers series (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers through Power Rangers Wild Force) was ran from Fox Kids at that time one year before Disney bought Saban Entertainment library in 2001.
Battle for the Grid Super is amazing. It's good to know it doesn't come with Season 4 content (Adam, Rita, & Poisandra). Edit: No Sega CD? Genesis? SNES? Also I think there was a chibi fighter on last gen consoles.
Fun fact about the Megaforce game: It's actually adapted from a game for Zyuden Sentai Kyoryuger(the basis for Dino Charge)that came out the same year. And somehow, that's the only time Power Rangers ever adapted a Sentai game.
You’re spot on about the zords in Dino Thunder. I tender being so hyped as a kid only to find out that you can’t actually play as the Dino Rangers. I was pissed. I never bought the game, lol.
THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS! I just 100% Super Legends a few weeks ago. I love that game despite its many flaws. I hope that one day they use the Legacy Wars models and make Super Legends 2 or any action adventure beat ‘em up that’s NOT 2D or a side scroller.
Great, someone else who loves the game and 100% it! But truly sincerely asking, and this entire comment of mine is not in a mean way or anything as I explain better later on, what many flaws? I'd say the game is great, it has a fair length and nice detailing of the levels and the different kinds of enemies, replaying levels to both get all the collectibles and maximize the rangers' strength feels great and fun, pulverizing the enemies in different ways and there is some difficulty there because they can totally hit you if you go to a horde of them like there's no danger, but it's also fun going 1 vs a horde. And the boss battles are good, the megazord battles are fine, they're not the best parts of the levels but it's compensated with how one can just appreciate how each megazord and giant-form bad guy looks and moves. And the PS2 models look so good, with that nice PS2 taste. It's not the first time that I've seen people say the game has flaws but it's never made sense to me the way they portray it as this worthless game. But I had never heard it from someone who likes it before which is why I'm interested in reading your opinion. Finding the collectibles, unlocking rangers, all the levels' settings look so good, the details, you fight iconic evil guys from the show like Trakeena and Chobo I believe it's spelled. The cinematics looking so comic-like is so goood. The in-level dialogue between the rangers and the bad guy is a nice touch. And all the rangers' models look so good, I never understood why many (most?) people look at the game and see flaws like they're so prominent cause I'm a really objective guy and I always recognize when a game I like has flaws, but with this one (which is not my favorite game ever or even close) I just don't see flaws that aren't minor nitpicks, like when people wish there were more rangers, the amount of rangers is already big and it has all these special 6th rangers and all instead of just being main rangers and I find it nice to have a few regular rangers and then the 6th ranger for each group, it feels more like people expect it to be bigger and that automatically makes it bad, when I find the length is fair, the beat em up battling is fun, the replayability is good to complete the unlockables and just to get to play as different rangers even if you unlocked everything on your first run in each level. This is how I see it trying to be fair and objective. And usually when people call it flawed it's people who dislike it, so for once I can hear from someone who claims to love it, so please, if you can, I'd like to hear what your take on the game is, or what are the flaws you found. I won't reply challenging your take as I don't want to create an argument, I'd just like to read the opinion and consider it as it's a valuable take being from, finally, someone who appreciates the game hahaha so if you fear replying will result in me challenging your opinions, it will not! It's so embarrassing and ridiculous when people do that over an opinion on a game, show, etc. I chose to explain how I view the game in this comment instead of waiting for a reply and then explain my view, specifically because if I did that it could look like escalation, like someone getting heated over a person just thinking different about a game since I wanted to talk about all the points and details I talked about but as me expressing my view and not as trying to correct someone on their view or anything like that. I will reply with a "thank you for the reply" message though! 🌟
20:40 Ninja Storm has a cool 3D Ps1 game. Hurricanranger Sentai. It’s based on the Japanese version but still have the same characters you’d be familiar with
Great to see a PR video from Matty. I have a bittersweet memory of playing the MMPR movie game on Genesis with my mom. She was able to beat the last level of the game and I never did it myself 😅 to this day that annoys me
I used to play a power rangers genesis game a lot at a friends house. I forget name of it though. But i was huge power rangers fan as a kid. I remember mighty morphin alien and zeo, turbo, lost galaxy, in space but i kinda fell off after and only watched some. I’m a bit older than you though so makes sense
I'd love to see a followup to this where he goes over the Power Rangers mobile games. Especially, Legacy Wars, which was develloped by the same company that did Battle for The Grid. I know it's quite relevant nowadays still, but the game itself came out in 2016 which I think qualifies it for being retro. The game offers a wider variety of rangers and villains to use and incorporates a card-based rock-paper-scissors attack system which is fun to master. The animations and models aren't anything to scoff at either. The biggest drawbacks are the lagging issues, lack of support when it comes to smaller issues like morph boxes not opening, and the game has an unbalanced battle system which can put players at a disadvantage at times, especially when facing stronger opponents. That, and the lack of new features, limited megazords and stages, as well as the one character at a time focus they've had with implementing new characters can make the game rather dull for players who've played long-term. But overall, I consider it up there with Super Legends. That, and I didn't like BFTG all that much due t0o its combat beinng too unforgiving.
I really enjoyed super legends wish they make more games similar to it and open world to find each powers find new rangers from dimensions and work together
Hitting me right in the nostalgia with a few of these I used to play ninja storm and especially spd all the time, and while I didn't have it I was hyped whenever I got to play wild force because I loved that show when I was a kid yes it was also my first power rangers show so yeah. Also fun fact one time I was at someone's house and they had dino thunder and I was so bored there that I literally played that game all the way through in one evening/night.
Ah memories, I played the GBA Power Rangers SPD (My favourite part was the Shadow Ranger vs 100 Krybots section but one I didn't like that much was the Space Invaders style section with the Green Ranger's Zord especially when it gets harder), the GBA Power Rangers Dino Thunder, the PS2 Power Rangers Dino Thunder game (which I still have to this day and still hard like it was back when I was a kid which is fun), I even tried the Xbox 360 Power Rangers Samurai for Kinect. I even played Power Rangers Zeo for the PC as a kid.
For me, I recall the Lightspeed Rescue on Gameboy color. I only played the hand-held games (Time Force, Wild Force, Ninja Storm and lastly Dino Thunder). The only PS2 power ranger game was Dino Thunder. Playing as a zord was fun.
The exact same as me. Lightspeed and Timeforce all clicked with me and where the ones I watched the most. I also loved Lost Galaxy, and all the ones before. When Wild Force came out, I kind of fell away. Was a different vibe for me.
This sure brings a lot of memories for me. Used to play time force power rangers on PS1. Funny story because I actually bought the game with the lightspeed cover and turns out it was time force, guess that's what you get for buying pirated games LOL. Other than that I played SPD, Ninja Storm, and Dino Thunder on the GBA. Also played the super sentai version of Wildforce and Ninja Storm on the PS1. Thanks for the video man, successfully bringing back the memories for me!
Matty talking about Power Rangers games? Yes Please! My era was definitely the SNES games. MMPR, MMPR The Movie, Fighting Edition. All incredible games. Remember Super Legends being an enjoyable playthrough although felt unfinished in places. None if the unlockable Rangers had any vo and when playing in 2 player the Rangers would start and the the level being overlapped on top of each other and make this strange amalgam ranger that was just nightmare inducing
Awesome video, thanks for showing us these Power Rangers games! I haven't had the chance to play a Power Rangers game, but I think I will thanks to your video. I'll also have to check out the Red Rangers episode and the Netflix special you mentioned too! One of my favorite memories was the Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue. My grandma had gotten me the Power Rangers in 3D VHS tape that included 3D Glasses. It was Lightspeed Rescue's Trakeena's Revenge 2-part episode into one movie. I thought it was the coolest thing ever lol
we wound up renting the SNES MMPR game so much from our local mom & pop video store they wound up selling it to us at a big discount. I've still never revisited it as a means of beating it but i think after watching this, I shall put it on one of my retro handhelds and finally complete it
I had a power rangers VHS with a couple episodes from a bunch of series and the Red rangers exclusive episode and that was the only episode I watched. It ruled
The only effect running out of time in ps1 time force has, is that your health or power bar doesnt increase after completing the level. Other than that the time counter simply goes into the negative until you finish the level
I remember playing the power rangers plug and play game it was really fun beat em up that had you chase down criminals has a specific ranger you get the swat and battlelizer has power ups.
20:39 i know you're probably only reviewing international released PR games but there's this awesome Japan-only Ninja Storm game for the PS1 called Ninpuu Sentai Hurricaneger. Didn't understand a single shit but love the game as a kid.
the Super Sentai PS1 games for Gaoranger and Hurricanger were really good and you can see some properties from those games were put into the line of GBA games. One off the top of my head was that they use the exact same head sprite of gaored / red wild force ranger from the hurricanger bonus level for the wild force GBA game.
I guess you don't go as far back as the 16-bit era, but the best licensed power rangers to this day is still the movie tie-in game for the Sega Genesis (the SNES one sucked). Otherwise, the best Power Rangers game is actually Chroma Squad.
The best part about the “Power Rangers:Dino Thunder” game is that you can play as the other Zords from the previous two seasons of Power Rangers
Yea.
Indeed, loved that feature
It will always be one of the best power rangers games from PS2. I just wish that there was a remake or remastered version of it by now.
Ah yes, I had the GameCube version of this game and really dug it!
Yeah, that was really good that they added Wild Force and Ninja Storms Zord's in because their games from the PS1 era weren't localized from Japan
The SNES Power Rangers is so nostalgic and probably my favorite. Spent a ton of time playing that with my family
Absolutely!!! I never got tired of playing or bored. It was so much fun.
same!
It's by far the best one next to Battle For The Grid
Came here to say this! A PR video without mighty Morphin power rangers, mmpr the movie, or the fighting one is incomplete

She was able to beat the last level of the game and I never did it myself 😅 to this day that annoys me
The intro the 2nd power range game hit me right in the memory . A game boy game .
A Power rangers Beat em up game made by the guys from TMNT Shredders Revenge, Would like that🤤🤤
Its coming out in December!!!!
Wild Force on the GBA was my shit
I remember the SNES Power Rangers game. I remember begging my Mom to rent it every time we got a movie so I could make progress. 😅
I still have the PS1 Lightspeed game, always loved playing it with friends and family members. Always played as the pink ranger. 💖
I had the original action figures where the head would flip from helmet to no helmet... and Tommy's dagger flute
Now do a power rangers retro game episode cause the snes games are God tier and the genesis games hold a place in my heart too.
The best is power rangers zeo vs the machine empire for the Apple pippin
For me, I recall the Lightspeed Rescue on Gameboy color. I only played the hand-held games (Time Force, Wild Force, Ninja Storm and lastly Dino Thunder). The only PS2 power ranger game was Dino Thunder. Playing as a zord was fun.
The exact same as me. Lightspeed and Timeforce all clicked with me and where the ones I watched the most. I also loved Lost Galaxy, and all the ones before. When Wild Force came out, I kind of fell away. Was a different vibe for me.
The one for Megadeive was awesome, a really good beat em up that aged really well.
We are so overdue for an awesome power ranger game.
The dino thunder game is the only one I have played :)
I Played that game alot back than it was alot of fun
Battle for the grid is so much fun. Fun fact, it's story mode is actually based on the comics by boom studio
7:35 I finally find out what Ironman said, though I would go infinity without knowing what he meant.
90s kid here I love MMPR and the special was cool. The games I played were the beat'em ups and I think light speed rescue on PS1.
If you’re still wondering what the card does, you use it with the Megaforce Gosei morphed toy and it makes sounds based on the card you put in
Matty talking about Power Rangers games?
I've still never revisited it as a means of beating it but i think after watching this, I shall put it on one of my retro handhelds and finally complete it
I loved playing Time Force on the GBA when I was younger. Time Force is my favorite out of all the series.
Oh my God neHver thought Id see a RUclipsr I follow talk about light speed rescue. That game was a huge part of my childhood damn
Best part of my childhood
I remember playing the power rangers plug and play game it was really fun beat em up that had you chase down criminals has a specific ranger you get the swat and battlelizer has power ups.
I’ve been researching power rangers and now you make a video about let’s go
Dino Thunder on the GBA is honestly my favorite. I played it a lot, a *LOT*, as a kid, as it's a side stroller
20:39 i know you're probably only reviewing international released PR games but there's this awesome Japan-only Ninja Storm game for the PS1 called Ninpuu Sentai Hurricaneger. Didn't understand a single shit but love the game as a kid.
Lightspeed had such a 🔥 theme!!
& Time Force is my favorite season of all Rangers & my 2 favorite Rangers come from that show (Jen & Wes)
Lightspeed rescue was one of my all time favorites. That and Dino Thunder
25:49 It works with the morpher. Sold separately
I love this channel!🤣🤣 The outfit was the perfect touch
Ok I love this channel for covering this. I hope you will cover about Ultraman games also
the Super Sentai PS1 games for Gaoranger and Hurricanger were really good and you can see some properties from those games were put into the line of GBA games. One off the top of my head was that they use the exact same head sprite of gaored / red wild force ranger from the hurricanger bonus level for the wild force GBA game.
I had that time force game of the gba, good times
This definitely hit my Nostalgia plan that PlayStation version back in the day and throughout the years
Finding all the extra zords on GameCube Dino Thunder was SO fun as a kid
Funny part is that after the super edition, they released more dlcs so now is not all on the disc again unfortunately
honestly the lightspeed rescue game slapped so hard
2:30 as did I. Still have it actually, idk why, seeing as the only PR thing I like is the movie from 2017, but I do have it
I guess you don't go as far back as the 16-bit era, but the best licensed power rangers to this day is still the movie tie-in game for the Sega Genesis (the SNES one sucked). Otherwise, the best Power Rangers game is actually Chroma Squad.
Facts
Timeforce is actually goated. In space, lost Galaxy all bangers. So many other good power ranger series.
I remember that Dino thunder game omg
Thank you for this 🥲😁😁
