I’ll never forget watching this race in the hospital after my grandmother that was like my mother had a heart attack and passed away. His 77th win is extremely sentimental to me
this race holds a place in my heart, a few days after Jeff got his 76th win, my dad passed away, my childhood died, his funeral was the day before this race, then came this race, saw Jeff lead a few laps, then came the final laps, as i saw Gordon took the lead, i was getting happier and happier, and then i saw him take the checkered flag, i was so happy, you may say that it was only just a win, i say you're wrong, that was a sign, that was my dad's spirit that gave Gordon the win, Jeff is my hero and to this day, i will never forget the day he cheered me up on the most difficult days, Jeff, thank you...
My dad past away April 2014 and JG won the Kansas race 1 week after the funeral. I can definitely relate to how uplifting it can be. Just know he is in a better place.
Jeff Gordon was the champion in 2007 he got robbed by the chase. He flat out was a dominate driver all season long. No more NASCAR for me until the chase goes away. It has manipulated the championship to a driver that is not the true champion from the entire season. I agree winning is important and winning didn't get Jeff Gordon the championship in 1996 which he should have been as well, (no disrespect to Gary Dehart and Terry Labonte because they earned it for sure) but I guess it's what we have to watch and deal with. It was exciting the first couple years of the chase but now it's too watered down. The ratings didn't go up like was originally the reason for it. Besides the 17 winning the championship in 2003 that also sparked it as well. No Chase for me or no more nascar. That's my stand.
An argument can be made he got gyped out of 5. - In 1996, Jeff had 8 more wins than Terry Labonte, but Labonte ended up scoring 37 more points than Jeff. (Which at the time, was really close.) If they awarded the appropriate number of points for wins back then, Jeff would've had the title by 57 points. - In 2009, Jeff had the best average finish. Jimmie still had 67 points over Jeff, but going off of the argument that Playoff worshippers use, if the points gap was closer, Jeff likely would've tried to do a few things to get those extra points if it was that close. Admittedly, this is a little more iffy than '96. '04, '07, and '14 are definites, though.
Idk if it's just me but I used to love when Jeffs car had the red spoiler on superspeedway tracks. All the others, he'd have a black rear spoiler. Wonder why that was. I wish he always ran it red.
@@whitehallavenue1752 yeah orange/red. Pretty much just blended the entire rear with the red instead of the blue. Was just odd how it was only a superspeedway thing. I know it's a slight change, but I always thought the car looked way better like that.
I always hated the only one attempt at a GWC, but now the unlimited attempts are too much, haha. I wish they'd limit it to two or three attempts again, so there's still multiple chances to end the race under green but less of a chance to tear up all the cars in the field.
Personally, I wish they would do away with the GWC Overtime altogether. IMO, it's just lead to unnecessary chaos and ruined great finishes in recent years.
Lmao, single file racing at superspeedways has been a thing since superspeedways have been a thing. Drivers try winning the race by making two and three wide moves A LOT more than you're trying to make it out to be.

Wow, that's an incredibly touching story; I'm glad he was able to pull off a win on a day you truly needed him to the most.
Jeff Gordon Edits me too buddy, me too
Steventhe2nd wish you the best to you're dad my friend....id too have a special place for Jeff Gordon in my heart
in addition to thanking jeff, you should also thank the entire team too.

Man two talladega uploads in 1 week! Thanks!
I'm about done with all of his wins from 2007, working on the Daytona Duel now.

Robert Benoit ya Gordon should have won the championship in 2007 and in 2014...
He would've won in 04 also.
Jeff Gordon in reality should have 7 championships but that chase crap screwed him more than once
Yep 30 top 10’s and 6 wins is straight robbery that year
They made the chase cause of Jeff Gordon. He’s winning all the time and they didn’t want him to tie Earnhardt in titles
Nascar: lets figure out how to screw gordon... robs him of 3 titles
Definitely...I've said that for years...I believe Nascar changed these rules just so records wouldn't be broken....

I loved how enthusiastic DW was for that race, and his excitement.
Also, I felt bad for Casey Mears. He likely would've had a good day, too.

He made the switch when loomis became CC. Always thought the spoiler was orange.

Fox was too busy talking about Dale Jr and the 00 that they totally missed Jeff Gordon marching through the pack AND passing for the lead. 🙄
Yup especially waltrip who always had some way of thinking Jeff would blow the race and his man crush earnhardt would win
I use to go to this race when I use to live in atlanta

Back when they would try the whole race. 😢 now it's single file until the last few laps. 😴😴😴

Not that I am condoning the behavior from the fans, but I don't think anyone cares this much for Nascar anymore.

Ahhh manmy dad was laughing his a** off at all the upset Jr fans throwing beer cans at Jeff. Dale Jr most overrated NASCAR driver in history.
What kinda of piece of shit throws a beer can at someone? 34:52
