Beinn a’Bhuird is the name of this mountain, "pain and pleasure" is what we had.....as BKXC would say.
Such mixed emotions on this one tbh, It's a hell of a slog just to even get to the base of the mountain. Then there is a very steep section out of now where followed by even more pedaling to get back round to the that we cycled past.
The descent even starts of pretty plain and boring, leaving me wondering if it was all even worth it. Thankfully the trail gets sweeter and sweeter as it progresses toward the bottom, finishing strongly on some very fine singletrack👌

I really appreciate the exposure you give your country. I live in Ontario Canada so every video you upload is a treat. I would have no clue what that part of the world looks like if it wasn't for your channel. That's why I keep saying you should be working with tourism industry.
Thanks buddy, equally, I’ve seen places in Canada and the rest of the world that I wouldn’t have normally seen. RUclips is actually a very good thing in that respect, makes the world feel that bit smaller👌
Those views 👌👍. And the trail, what a beauty that was, made the effort worth it. Great video as always
It was one hell of a long climb, but yes, it was a very good descent 👌
Great video as pre usually bro .keep them up. Always great to see your beautiful country. Cant wait to visit it again.
Thanks Chris 😊
As impressive and amazing as it is to watch yourself and other popular MTB RUclipsrs ride the techy steep stuff it's great to see where the big flowy and fast trails are in the mountains on the big days out, thanks for sharing!
Definitely quite refreshing to find flowy and relatively easy trails up in the mountains 👍
Wicked vid as always and some serious speed on the descent ! Awesome .
Thanks Karl👍
Making me smile just watching that decent - looked perfect!
Singletrack perfection that one 👌
Beautiful country and trail. Thank you!!!
Thanks for watching 👍
That looked amazing!!
Great stuff Andrew 😉👌🚴🚴🚴 enjoyed buddy 👌👌
Thanks Taffy
Thanks for the trail forks link - really helpful!
No worries, I changed over from Strava because they changed over to paid membership for getting the gpx, only for Trailforks to do the same 🤦🏼♂️
Sick vid mate 🤘🔥
Thanks buddy
Another good ride. Your so lucky living in Scotland and being surrounded by all them trails. Nice one for the trailforks link 👍
I feel lucky to live here, but I’ve still got to travel a good bit to get to rides like these.
@@McTrailRider You certainly have less travel than I would.
Looks epic up there!
That it is 👍
Will do up and back as you suggested 👍🏻
Epic single track!
Yep
Nice to see a calibre bike holding its own.
Darn, I have already watched this a hit the like button! Enjoyed it more second time around though. Probably because it's a cold January evening in gkasgiw😉
Nice, always nice to look back at warmer, drier times.
Our national motto should be ‘Scotland- Beautiful but Brutal’ thats some trail dude. We’re all big kids at heart, l wouldv’e defo climbed that rock too. Nice riding dude as always. 🤙🏴
“Beautiful but brutal” I like that 😜
Added to the list . Thanks 😊
Good to hear Pete 👍
7 hours in the saddle good going nice one 👍
Well, 7 hours round trip, probably more like 5 and a half hours moving time.
That was a joy to watch Andy, your video and audio worked perfectly. But no waterfalls lol. Pete.
No video should be without a waterfall Pete 😜
@@McTrailRider One day we shall do it, when I get my bionic legs!
That's defo on my to do list 👍
Good to hear 👍
Looked like a quality big day out. What amazing weather - those trails might have even looked dusty?!
Wow! You just found a munro with flow!!! The bottom section was stunning. Just wow mate.
The Cairngorms seems to have all the flowing descent 👌 You’d definitely love this one Jamie 👍
@@McTrailRider give me a shout next time you are up that way 🤙❤🏴
another epic ride, so so so beautiful. Great loop, however 34 km and 1150 m of elevation is quite a lot, equals XC tours you do in my region in Germany. Fantastic,
It’s a very big day out, especially when not all of the climb is rideable.
Watching this a second time, that single track looks awesome 👌. Added to the bucket list and in my area ✔️. You heading over to Heart brake ridge,?
Went to Heartbreak ridge the next day but didn’t make a video of it. Will be back again though.
I went otb in the same river, in the same spot, on the same day.
James will be pleased to read that 👍 two numpties in one day 😜
Haha yes I was glad to read that!
I’m from Edinburgh in Scotland, you should do a video up the pentland hills. Some decent wee trails or along at Glentress. Loving the vids.
I do need to try the Pentland hills. I’ve ridden Glentress to death though, great wee place👍
@@McTrailRider Pentlands has some fun stuff albeit fairly tame. If you're thinking of doing a video then the best route for footage is probably the Five Peaks route from West Kip to Flotterstone (conveniently finishes at a pub)
Yet another crackin video 👍 Braemar area is awesome 😊 One thing McTrail Rider - is that Giro Switchblade minus chinbar? You're wearing it a lot! I thought you had a MET Parachute MCR? - u no likey? 😉
Well spotted, yes is the Giro, I’m using the con price to hold the camera, hence it not being in shot.
The Parachute was such a nice helmet, but I just couldn’t get used to the fit of it when the chin bar was off. My mate Wez bought it off me as it fits him better👍
That final stretch of singletrack through the Scots pines and heather is to die for, Did you know that this path was reinstated by the national trust Scotland after the previous Landowner Bulldozed a track to the summit in the eighties, for shooting parties, an amazing path considering this.
It’s pretty sweet 👌 I had no idea of its history though, that’s great that’s it’s gotten back to what it is not in that case👍
cool video! which Garmin computer are you using??
Great vid as always and stunning scenery! What glasses are you wearing?
Thanks buddy, they are Oakley jawbreakers
Loving your vids bud,up in Scotland in Oct to ride torridon.Watching your vids makes me wanna ride more Mtns in Scotland 🏴
Keep up the good work, how’s the pivot shuttle going?
Torridon is awesome! Pivot has been pretty awesome too👍
Great video again. Awesome looking descent. Do you think it could done as a there-and-back to Beinn a'Bhuird or would it be pushing all the way.
You could ride most of it as a there and back trail, but not all of it. I’m tempted to do it on the Ebike, I think I could ride the whole thing on the Shuttle.
What was your old orange bars called on your old deviate bike bud?
Could you tell me what mount you use for the Garmin edge 530? I'm looking for a similar set up 👍
This one right here

May I ask what the average speed is in one of these descents? It looks incredibly fast at parts.
Not sure of the average, but I hit 48kmh a couple of times on the descent.
Such a long flowing descent. It’s definitely on my list. Is it on your strava?
Cheers dude
It is on my Strava👍 And on my Trailforks ride log in the description
Havent seen many of your videos but sgor goeth is decent altho we might of fucked up as we came flying down the hiking path.
Hi guys , was this anti clockwise , planning this soon
Hey sir - could this be linked with Ben Avon to catch the two Munro's ?
Absolutely. We actually went up by the shoulder of Avon on the climb.
What Tyree are you running front and rear ??
Michelin Wild Enduro’s front and rear 👍
Love it. Cairngorms are best from Braemar I reckon. Also McTRAIL RIDER, Ben Avon is pronounced Ben Anne, 🤪😂👍
Ah the classic silent V and O, how did I miss that 😜😂
@@McTrailRider It gets worse - "bh" is pronounced "v" so Beinn a’Bhuird is Ben a voorst ;)
Looks epic. How long did it take you to get up?
Took us roughly 6 hours to get to the top 😳 could be done quicker, but I don’t think you could be faster than 4 hours.
@@McTrailRider ha... No, I'd think it would be more like 8 or 9 for me. If at all with a bike..
the bit through the heather tho...... 8^P
👌😊
Is your action cam chest-mounted? It's a great pov.
It’s mounted to the chin bar of my full face helmet 👍
So pleased you are in favour of FREEDOM! 👍🏻 Always crosses my mind when hearing a Scottish accent. I will be watching every video now! 🏴🏴🏴
clown
The boulder at 2:07 is known as an 'erratic'
Yep, signs of glaciers everywhere you look up there.
I was wondering if he'd get stick for the union Jack shirt from the second I seen it. 😂😂
I held off for a long time to be fair 😜
@@McTrailRider I was thinking it was coming in tbe intro
I don't know what you mean....
How about a loop by e-mtb? Possible?
This one would be 90% doable on an Ebike, but the 10% section would be very tough. Worth it overall though.
I did this loop with my Bosch 625amp Moustache..I did ride as much as I could in 'Eco mode' til the climb when I used 'Tour mode' and from The Sneck it is indeed a fair pull up a very steep face onto the lower slopes of Beinn A Bhuird. Great video as always Mr McTrail rider 👌
Never complete without a little James mishap. lol
Indeed 😁
2:16 I've sat underneath that boulder and my dad walked passed me whaching this and said hes ran most of those hills plus it's around about an hour from my house
Your in the ideal position to get back out there and discover some more 👍
@@McTrailRider yeah I'm building a trail bike but I'm getting into doing tricks at skate parks again but I'm defo going up munro's again
Did this descent in the early noughties one witnter always said I'd return in summer but never did. Pity. The path doesn't look like it's suffered much from the weather in 15 odd years. The path was constructed after the NTS back-filled the bulldozed landy track as part of their re-wilding programme for the Mar Lodge Estate.
I heard that it used to be a Land Rover track after I done it. Impressive, as I wouldn’t have noticed if I hadn’t been told. Good to hear it’s holding up well too👍
@@McTrailRider The landy track takes a different route up the flank of the hill. With a dusting of snow you could see the back-filled track a bit higher up the hillside, if my memory serves me well.
Braw down shoot that... Is jamesy trying to injury himself on camera, he's getting consistent at it lately haha
😄😄 he’s making a resurgence back to the good old days 🤦🏼♂️
@@McTrailRider sounds like there's a story there haha
Och, them sassenach, they suin be by themselves ;)
😂😂
what is james youtube, andrew?
He doesn’t have one Kyle, Andy recorded this on his channel though.
ruclips.net/video/LNa68Z-vM0I/видео.html
wher did the union jack lad come from ? did he get dropped off by helicopter... 😂😂😂
Andy is from Warwickshire
Roughly Ben a Voord and Ben An (and also Loch An behind Cairngorm, not pronounced Avon). You’re welcome. Mad boys.
Thanks Kenny, Gaelic doesn’t make a huge amount of sense to me 🤦🏼♂️
Certainly not at all intuitive for English speakers like us. The bits I know mostly came from years of hill-walking. Walkhighlands website often has the pronunciation with their route guides - very useful.
2:30 there’s something really erratic watching a bloke climb on this boulder
I see what you did there👏
Those rock formations and terrain look so out of place for Scotland.
I agree, wasn’t expecting them
McTrail Rider James falling on the other hand 😂
Mwah ha.... Strip him n burn the union rag...... 😝 Ace video again chaps. Thanks.... Ps you need to STOP wearing other people's jerseys Andrew & make your own.... I'd say a saltire with McTrail Rider across the back/front. Time for some merch mate.....
Possibly a bit too harsh a punishment Gibby 😂 In hoping to have some merch before the end of the year 👍
