Welcome to Fisherfield - "The Great Wilderness." Been backpacking in there over the years, always quiet because of the isolation, most remote place in Britain located near one of the summits. View from Mhaighdean (most remote Munro) is very special. Enjoyed your well made film, now looking forward to my next bikepacking trip. ATB
Went to ride this today. Unfortunately my rear mech ate a rock, got totally mangled so we had to walk back up & out the way we’d come. Will deffo come back & finish this one day
Fantastic video, superb footage of this amazing place - one of the best videos you've done, Scotty. The descent from the high point is indeed awesome and its truly magical when you get to that point where the view of the mountains and lochs open out. I found I had to either ride or admire the scenery, I couldn't doing both at the same time. Didn't have much problem with midges, as it was hot, sunny and no wind... perfect cleg weather and their bites actually nip! Seems like either "local" will get you in here 😬
Scotty that was absolutely sensational. Just getting out on the bike is enjoyable anywhere but to be mountain biking in those surroundings is just out of this world. Thanks for bringing us along! All the best, Adrian
Top ride. The last great wilderness. I’ve walked across the route you rode and it is epic. The view down to the causeway is a true Scottish classic, and then there is the midges!! Thanks for sharing.
Im up there & staying just a few miles from the start of your ride so might give this a go. Let's hope for some dry conditions & less midges. Thanks for the vid & .gpx
Another epic video. Amazing single track down the mountain with those views. Big thumbs up to the camera man with the slow motion clips. Awesome footage again. Really enjoying the series. This route is definitely on the bucket list one day.
Scotty, That’s was fantastic!! Mrs sent this to me which is normally a hint that I’m to start planning this as our next adventure!! 😊 Thank you for the effort you’ve put in to make a lovely little adventure film. D&L 😊
Ahh thanks you so much, glad you’ve enjoyed it and inspired you! I’d deffo recommend it as a ride - seriously stunning with some truly incredible singletrack!
I know where one of my day rides is gonna be come Spring/Summer! The Fisherfield area is remote and beautiful but I've not been in as far as the bothy yet. Do you think if you'd not taken the 'shortcut' you would have still encountered deep bog? Wondering if I can cut across from the bothy to Kinlochewe aswell. Will have to take a closer look on the OS map. Really enjoying this series. Thanks
It was only short in terms of distance I think the long route which we did start out on is relatively hard pack and also has a bridge rather than a river crossing however we lost this section of the path at somepoint and decided to turn back and take the ‘shorter’ option which tbh although there was actually a semi clear path was a really bad call! Next time I’ll know… 😆
Is it obvious which way the long way goes to avoid the bog? Planning to do the ride this Sunday but as it's been raining, likely to be very boggy, but the forecast not so good doer the full week i'm up there & Sun might be the best of the worst days, TIA
Have you tried taking a lemon and scraping the skin then rub it in your face to keep the midges away? That's how the photographer at Fort Bill DH keeps them away. He even sleeps outside.

It’s beautiful up there right! The midges were vicious alright!!
Great video. I've walked most of that route. Now inspired to go back with my MTB.

Fantastic Scotty 👌 stunning views and can you can tell you loved this one.
Thanks SJ! It was a belter of a day on the bike!!
Looks like another ace ride for the bucket list.
It sure is! I’ll be back up there this summer… Unreal!!
Another absolute belter 💯🤙
Thank you 🙏
Fantastic video - really inspired to ride the route despite the midgies!
They were only bad once the rain started and then they were brutal, if you stopped during the last 1 hour your were eaten alive!
Awesome epik 🤘👍
It was wet at the finish 🤣🤣🤣???? Lol , a hot coffee maybe ????
Great video, super single track 👍👍👍👍
I can’t remember what it was that night, it was a long day… the snack bag was heavily raided let me tell you!
A great advert for Scottish wilderness rides ....epic day and great video production as usual 👍
Thanks Trevor! Lucky to have this stuff on our doorsteps!!
I'm inspired. Great vid!
Awesome! Thank you!

Any other similar routes out there?? Recommendations please
Maybe a headnet would helpfor midges, they take almost no space and can see through it?
My filmer Rob had one which I sacrificed for his welfare, he forgot his 😂

Awesome sights, its strange that theirs not many trees though? Will they not grow well in the climate?
Not sure on this, there are some in areas but generally it’s a very rocky region so perhaps hard for them to grow in!
It's a green desert due to over grazing , the trees were cut down in the neolithic period, any new saplings are quickly eaten by sheep and red deer
@@andyclarke2969 thanks for the info.
That’s one I definitely want to do. What travel bike is that?
This Spark has 140mm up front and 120mm on the rear. 🙌
drone footage from air2s?
Yessir!

I can’t say I have!
