This is a great video but...I'm in zone 6 Pennsylvania. Today is 8/17/22. Just this morning I killed a bunch of squash bugs and nymphs. Either way, I enjoyed your video. Great job pretty lady.
Interesting, maybe we get our squash bug attacks between June and July because it get’s hotter earlier in the season in Florida. Thanks so much for sharing the info! Good luck with the squash bugs.
Personally I just toss them whole at the base of the plant. They end up breaking down quickly. I’ve also heard of people rubbing the inside of the peal on the underside of the leaves to help spread the strong banana scent, that the aphids don’t like. Hope this helps!
Slugs love bananas so I wouldn’t use that in a garden with slugs or snails. I try to grow things vertically then easy to check underneath the leaves if any aphids there and remove before adding up. I will use yellow cup of water see if that works
From my experience the bananas break down so quickly, it’s not been an issue. Thank you for the info though, I didn’t know slugs and snails preferred bananas. The yellow cup/bowl sounds crazy, but it really works! Let me know how it goes 🙂
That’s so frustrating! Sometimes these bugs are so relentless it’s hard to prevent an attack. I’d also recommend planning on starting a new crop after mid July.
I been spraying my squash with a home made neem oil spray, but it soes not seem to be helping much. NOT sure I got the right neem oil. I been spraying them every couple days. I am about to get Hot🌶 with them bugs. I mived my whole garden every yr now for 3 yrs, still have these horrid bugs.
New sub here, I see you are a up and coming channel, thats 😎. My videos are not as nice as yours, but I d9 NOT spend much time on making mine, & it tells. 😆 ❤
With Neem you have to reapply almost weekly in the peak of pest season (for me, some weeks it’s easier to remember than others!) I’d also just keep planting new crops to replace crops that might have been taken over by squash bugs. Come August, you’ll see all pests die down too so it could just be timing. Thanks so much for subscribing, so glad to have you! I’ll check out your channel too!
@@tomfisher3117 I think I bought the wrong neem oil, SO I'm kinda screwed. I'm to the POINT of using a real poison to kill off the squash bugs. I have never seen THEM this bad, there is thousands, all 3 planting seasons I have lived here.
Wow... !!! My best friend, Great... We liked and enjoyed to the end. Thanks Have a happy day!
Thanks for watching!
wow , you are not only smart , you are very pretty too . can't wait to see what else you got
Thank you!
Thank you for the info on bugs and fungus I have both problems. I sprayed the fungicide. Now I waiting on the neem oil to come in
You’re welcome! I hope it helps your plants!
Great tips!!! I always trim the lower leafs off my squash plants too.
Saves the plant energy so it can focus on making squash too!

Thank you for the tips. I always wondered why I had issues early with the borers and not later. Now I know.
Welcome! Thanks for watching!!
Would you suggest cutting the banana peels into little chunks or pieces or would you just plop them in there whole?

I've tried the foil. They just lay their eggs above the foil line.

Yeah, foil, panty hose... don't work. I think injecting BT into the stems works the best, I think, and I'm going to try that this year.
Bugs the constant gardener problem

Try cold pressed neem oil. Spray weekly.

For the eggs your favourite method is to squish em. This is my favourite method for all the buggy pests 😈😂😂
Right, I’d say it’s the most affective!
😢 even moving squash plants to different places the Squash bugs STILL find them!
I know, it’s really upsetting when that happens 💔
