I think the best way to use neem is not just as a foiler spray but as a root drench. Neem is readily absorbed through the roots of plants and can go systemic.
A huge tip I can add is to emulsify the neem in a smaller container with just the soap and a little water. It makes a huge difference in the mixing and applying it with a sprayer. Does a great job of keeping the neem from sticking to the side of the sprayer.

During high school, we have a lot of Neem Tree planted at the back lot of our school. During experimental research subjects we always use neem leaves as subject. We were able to extract oils, create neem candles, and incense usually as insecticide or pesticide. The tree also looks great on the landscape. We take our lunch under these trees.

Very informative thank you! Just as an FYI so you don't kill any beneficial insects like bees, butterflies, ladybugs etc - spray the neem oil solution at sunrise or sunset, when those bugs are less active. Otherwise you might hurt the good bugs that are not hurting your plants at all.

If you can't afford Neem oil (which is expensive), try using 3x tsp of baking soda (bicarb of soda), 1 tsp of vegetable oil, 2x tsp very mild handwash (baby soap for e.g.) 500mil of warm water (1tr for weaker solution). This is a powerful fungicide ( powdery milde and insecticide ). I have been using this mix for well over 50 years and if applied correctly works well. Just make sure to spray under leaf too. 👌

Hello, it often happens to burn your plants with neem oil, this has happened to me several times, and the heat of the sun is not the problem. Neem oil mixes very badly with soap and water (even with frequent shaking), and when sprayed, some plants receive a much too high concentration, while other plants get very little. Be very careful never to spray your plants when they are in bloom. Not knowing it at first, I burned a lot of strawberry blossom.

Thank you for the video, I've been thinking of trying Neem oil for a while, and you convinced me to give it a go. My bell peppers and some of my chilies are suffering from whiteflies. I've tried washing down the infested plants, spraying them with a baking soda/soap solution, and putting several yellow sticky pads close to the infected plants. The yellow pads have caught a LOT of them, but they're still there. Time to try the Neem Oil Thank you for your great and informative content here
Plant some parsley & basil under and around your peppers, you will attract some natural insects that will eat them. Secondly watch your ants..some sticky stuff called Tanglefoot you can apply around the base of your plants, will help stop anything crawling up or down ;D
I sprayed every one of my plants that I brought in the house from outside...hope I was supposed to lol I wanted to get rid of bugs before bringing it in. I'm a new plant mom so I'm learning lol.
My son asked me to repot some lemon tree starts for him. There a little black/brown dots on the under side of some of the leaves which I think are bugs because I can get them off and in a couple of days I will see a few more. Thank for video on Neem oil i well spray the Phlox in front yard blooms are beautiful it would nice to finally get rid of the meldew an maybe those black bugs looks like tick.
Your recipe for neem should include drops of clover and rosemary essential oils. The smell of them detracts pests too. The spray should be applied in early am hours on veggie garden issues so that the stickiness of neem does not cook leaves as it’s absorbed. And doing so in morning means your not spraying bees, lacewings, butterflies, ladybugs, etc. if you have serious issues, then only every couple days until controlled then back to every couple weeks for preventative. Too much will kill plants because it clogs pores of leaves that allow them to breathe.

I.E., 6.5 oz of neem is 12.5 tbsp
Some bottles of pesticide are like add one microunit to every third astral gallon only when the temperature is at 75 celcius at sea level. Lol
With me standing there with my measuring spoon set....

Kinda weird it feels like you’re reading my mind, I just used neem oil yesterday. Love your content Kevin!
Great information young man. Granny highly approves and subscribed as well with thumbs up!
Thank you for being precise and friendly and clearly helpful
Hi Kevin! How are you?
I have been using Neem oil on my houseplants for years. I use it as a preventative treatment. I use Neem oil, peppermint soap, alcohol and warm water. Knock on wood, it has been very effective.

THANK YOU I use neem oil for my succulents. Great info
Neem is such a great herb great for hair, skin, etc
Thank you for the video, I've been thinking of trying Neem oil for a while, and you convinced me to give it a go.
My bell peppers and some of my chilies are suffering from whiteflies.
I've tried washing down the infested plants, spraying them with a baking soda/soap solution, and putting several yellow sticky pads close to the infected plants.
The yellow pads have caught a LOT of them, but they're still there.
Time to try the Neem Oil
Thank you for your great and informative content here
Plant some parsley & basil under and around your peppers, you will attract some natural insects that will eat them. Secondly watch your ants..some sticky stuff called Tanglefoot you can apply around the base of your plants, will help stop anything crawling up or down ;D
You will not be disappointed
Great video Kevin. I like the tip about the Neem fertilizer. Being from Hawaii I had no idea Aina produced that product!
Just did my Neem with Dr. Bronners and a touch of cayenne last night. Works great.
Note: neem is so popular in West Africa so much it grows in the wild plus home grown
New gardener experiencing mealy bugs for the first time. Just bought neem oil a couple hours ago, so this is timely.
Did it work for Mealybugs?
Yes, did it work for mealy bugs?
I bought Neem Cake on Amazon, and I am so glad that you explained it and it's use. Thanks.
I researched and found your video. I will spray the plants before transplanting them into a larger pot. I may have missed it in your video, but I was wondering how often I should spray the plants? Your videos are wonderful and chocked full of information. Thank you for taking the time to share your knowledge with us.
I was surprised to you haven’t done a video about Neem oil yet. It glad you did! Your video was very helpful than others I watched. Love your channel! Happy holidays!!
Not that you care or have time to but Im so glad you aren’t doing product placement ads for products you were given. Back in my top 3 gardening Chanel’s again!
I will do some of those for sure though, please keep that in mind! Partnering with brands I respect is vital to EG.
I totally understand you need to have sponsors. The chicken coupe video really turned me off though. I wanted my 20 mins of life back, lol. You have taught and insured me so much. I have built all kinds of trellises and a green house. Thank you!!!
Great video dude
VERY COOL _ I LOVE it when the resources are utilized to the very last by-product, in a sustainable way
Some of my English ivy's leaves have sticky stuff on them and I see these tiny brown (aphids?) on them.
I was already headed to my local nursery to buy neem oil, and your video added some great tips regarding
what to look for on the label. Thanks!
This is SUPER HELPFUL. Wish I'd seen it before the the power ruined my pumpkins. Next year will be better. Epic Gardener is truly EPIC.

Great info for this new gardener.
I’ve been wondering about the certain DIY neem spray concentrations recently. This came at a perfect time. Need to make me some more neem oil soon. Great video on neem oil. Thanks, Kevin.

Much help from your presentation. Thank you!!!
Excellent Thanks you and 1000 blessings from Rajasthan.
Interesting! We garden tons of vegetables, and so far we are blessed that the birds are doing all the work eating insects. We have never used it, but good to know, Thanks
using it on my snake plant rn! just got one from home depot (the only garden center near me that has a small snake plant available) the leaves are wrinkled and so i dont know if it is from underwatering or pests... probably underwatering but using the preventative recipe just in case. thank you for sharing your knowledge! :) super helpful
Thank for video on Neem oil i well spray the Phlox in front yard blooms are beautiful it would nice to finally get rid of the meldew an maybe those black bugs looks like tick.
Love it! Just used it today for that darn powdery mildew! Works great:)
Thanks for a very good video
Great video. Very helpful. Thank you!
Too much will kill plants because it clogs pores of leaves that allow them to breathe.
what do you know about spraying fruit trees am I too late in the season? Cheers my x was a Tillotson His dad was partners of the Frolics on Salisbury Beach MA
Powdery mildew and earwigs took most of my squash this year, so I am definitely going to try this next growing season!
Copper ocroate and potassium salts of fatty acids for the best organic solutions to your specific problem
@@matlogan7501 that’s helpful! Thank you!
@@hillaryburdick9313 sorry, octoate* didn't see the spelling and you're very welcome
Totally needed this. Thx so much
I use Neem oil all the time in my outside garden. Its amazing on fungus that likes to grow on my Peonies every year.
Im having an issue with rust on my grapevine and passionfruit vine and i have done a few treatments with a fungicide but looking for something natural to use instead
Hi this information is great thank you
Can I keep this mixture or after use or dispose 👍🏻
Spray water on/under the leaves early in the day first before resorting to other remedies. This is usually sufficient to control pests.
Thanks for sharing. ❤
This video is wonderful! Thank you!!
Spray during the day so it has dry time. I once watered cucumbers before dark and the leaves developed mold and perished.
Super helpful, thank you.
Lost my whole planting of cantaloupe because of mildew. Didn't know what to do. As I'm new with the gardening aspect. Will definitely get neem oil for my next planting
Will powdered milk work, too?
