Gary, I've spent the past 2 months or so watching your videos. The information you provide is both deep in its information, yet presented in a way. that is easy to understand. I took up gardening on my own because of an interesting need (growing up, my Dad was great with our small family garden). My Wife and I visited the Caribbean island of Antigua (we got married there a few years later) and I was introduced to an amazing, locally produced hot sauce. Upon our return to New York, I promised myself I would some day make my own hot sauce. There was a problem though. The hot/super hot peppers used weren't readily available up here. Well I think the rest is history. Thank you so much for these videos. Vince. Peekskill, NY

Very informative, thank you Gary. I love how you tell us the origin of the diseases. For instance, the white butterfly explained, leaves the larvae, and it turns into a green worm. Helps me to identify the problems again thank you.

This was really interesting. I learn a lot. I hope this helps me with my lemon trees. In PR we have a huge problem with citrus after the hurricane Maria. Before that almost all citrus died. Hi Gary I really in joy watching your video’s I have learned a lot, this year I am using a form of peppermint in my garden to help control some bugs I took some peppermint tea bags and soaked in water and placed around my Squash for the past few years I get a few squash but not like I should hope this will help I also been using DE powder & need oil this year so far so good! Have you herd of any one using peppermint tea bags?
Gary I'm really learning a lot from your DIY series! I'm kind of new to your channel and edible gardening, so your recipes are going to come in handy. I'm starting small, I only started a few seeds of things I would definitely eat, but from what I'm reading and watching, tomatoes and cucumbers might prove to be a challenge here in Texas with very hot & humid spring & summers. At least I'll have your recipes to help me just in case, much appreciated!! ;)
Small is the way to start. Sometimes you plant them around your high summer months. Good luck.

Just in case anyone was wondering, the optimal rate is 4 parts oil to 1 part soap. This will help to avoid phytotoxicity because it won’t be so viscous on plant leaves.
It also helps if you mix it prior to adding it to your sprayer, it will turn into a milky white liquid, this will help it to spray easily once you add it to your sprayer.
When adding your newly made concentrate it is best to use 1 tablespoon (15 mls) per litre as a summer spray.
Thanks

I absolutely Love.. love.. love.. using neem oil in the garden for everything! Its the only thing I've used and has saved my plants here in florida with all the pests and constant arising diseases. I've used it for the past 7 yrs and will never change.. Lol Thanks for sharing as Always!
Neem really works. I just ordered a lot more.
@@THERUSTEDGARDEN me too! I always keep at least 2 bottles on hand here in florida. Between the constant pests and diseases all year long it's the only thing that works so I can grow vegetables outside.
HOw do you mix your neem oil??
@@curtflirt2 hi there! Great question.. I use 2 tbs of organic Neem Oil per gallon of water (preferably rain water) I add about 1/4 tsp of dawn dish soap (non scented) to incorporate and the oil and water together better. Remember to always test Spray on a piece of the foilage before using, if you have never used the product on a specific plant before. Always keep out of direct sunlight when applying neem oil or any foilage spray. That's It! 🤗 Hope that helps! I use it for everything here in florida and we get a lot of pests and diseases. Never spray directly on bees because it can harm them. I usually only spray at night when the sun goes down. Good luck and happy planting!

I agree because I made a mess of my good leaves. I was in a hurry.
I LOVE YOU GARY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great video new subscriber! Lots of good info , I didn’t know that neem would not harm beneficial insects and targets the leaf chewers. One thing I would advise is to spray early in the morning or after sunset to avoid phototoxicity . Thanks a lot
Thanks as always very informative ill be using this for the duration of the season my question is do you need to reapply if you spray this morning and it rains a Florida rain all afternoon .
If it is a hard rain sooner that later. The underside spraying does stay and gives you some time.
I peeled off the outside layer of the galls and applied the neem oil straight. Worked wonders and didn't damage the plants.
outside layers of the what?

Thank you very much for you very detail and informative instruction. Will the neem oil spray help with the apricot tree blight problem ?If so, how to apply them ?
I don't use it on fruit trees. So I cant give you advice. If the blight is fungal oil sprays do help. I would make sure you test spay some leaves and wait 72 hours to look for damage anytime you try new sprays.
