Covering with tule might be hard to do with a vining melon plant on trellis. Mine is sisal rope net tied to top stake. I'm considering covering the base of the plant with tule but might have to use BT. As for squash, I think that the pest pressure is so intense in North Central Florida that people only expect one harvest from zucchini. I haven't heard about if they grow under row covers.
You may be able to make a cover using the irrigation tubing as I use for trellising. With the trellising with the irrigation tubing, you can make it as large as you want. It’s something to think about. Thanks so much for your comment.

question I Live in FL rains almost everyday . how many seeds should I put for gardening squash ? is it best to dig into the soil to put a bit of seeds or should I put all the seeds ?
Well, you only need One seed per plants, SO, plant some now and a few more in 4-5 days as the new plants come up. I start most of mine in the house and plant out the individual plants where I want them to grow. Being last July you can plant most now inside and get them started, and transplant them where you want them.
I just check my leaves, squash the bugs when I find them and rub all the eggs off, put my way too much mint as chop and drop on the soil around. They put eggs on my persimmon leaves that are right above one zucchini 😁
You guys are so funny! But it's not funny when those beetles take a liking to you... I've been chased around the car and in the yard more times than I care to admit, and I do scream like a little girl... My husband thinks it's funny but the irrational panic attack I had was not! Thank goodness no squash bugs here in SoCal (at least in my yard)! Always good information here on your channel - I appreciate your sharing your tips and tricks with us!
I dug out of the stem, 10 vine borers out of ONE large plant. They keep coming. Planting them early or late doesn't work here. Typically, if you catch the vine borer worms in time you might save the plant but they killed ALL MY PLANTS. Will try tulle like you did next year. I put Tulle around the vine stem. But they got in anyway. So I'm going to cover the entire plant next year.
I find zucchini tasteless. They are like a sponge and take on whatever sauce you add to it. That’s why it’s a good replacement for pasta. Less carbs as well.

@@RobbieAndGaryGardeningEasy Thank you. I did set those up.
I just have a weird set up this year that spans across three totes including Perpetual Spinach planted last autumn and might need some shade.
You reminded us that the adult squash borer moth is big enough, so I'm feeling that this may work even if it's not perfect.
Now I know companion planting doesn't work 100% of the time BUT i have (about 3 years ago) started planting marigolds with my tomatoes .... Hornworms were killing every plant I had and this year I had 1 hornworms (knock on wood)
Little off topic but if ya have hornworms try marigolds.
I liked the veil, I'd use it longer side to the back since for some reason I get things on my back shoulders and hair... Like cicadas or ants.
Lucky you!! Zucchni are destroyed in Central Texas.
Off topic...but your creative! Any suggestions on using recycled things to support a 30 to 100 pound gourd/squash? As it grows on a trellis? (Yes it should be able to support the weight...it holds my adult overweight body to hang from!) Lol you are so good at ideas...but 30 to 100 pounds means it needs go be adjustable too...any ideas? Ps its a zucca gourd/melon if you want to look it up
Funny you should ask, Gary is working on a great trellis, I will let him know you need his ideas, Fast
@@RobbieAndGaryGardeningEasy yes please! I'd send you pics if I could on here! It was the size of my index finger Thursday and its now the length of my hand!!!
Hi Robbie my zucchini have a leaves white silver and after dry so I don’t know what is going on and then I have a Seven they all look the same I get on the two fruit and I know what to do probably too late now
And tell me if the soil now is going to be good to planting new squash or some thing else I love you love you bye-bye
question I Live in FL rains almost everyday . how many seeds should I put for gardening squash ? is it best to dig into the soil to put a bit of seeds or should I put all the seeds ?
Well, you only need One seed per plants, SO, plant some now and a few more in 4-5 days as the new plants come up. I start most of mine in the house and plant out the individual plants where I want them to grow. Being last July you can plant most now inside and get them started, and transplant them where you want them.
@@RobbieAndGaryGardeningEasy ah thank you for the tip robbie :)
I just check my leaves, squash the bugs when I find them and rub all the eggs off, put my way too much mint as chop and drop on the soil around. They put eggs on my persimmon leaves that are right above one zucchini 😁
If my plants got those things I'd let them have it, kudos to those who live where those things are and grow anyway.
I am curious , is all that land behind the wall yours too? How much land do you own? It looks to be quite a large piece of property.
She said they have two acres. Part of the property drops down a hill and that's where Gary's garden is. It's a beauty.
I find zucchini tasteless. They are like a sponge and take on whatever sauce you add to it. That’s why it’s a good replacement for pasta. Less carbs as well.
I have a ? Do you make holes in the bottom of the containers?
Yes she does put holes either on the sides an inch from the bottom or straight on the bottom
I have to spray every day now because of squash bugs and cucumber beetles i use an organic pesticide. I hate it.
YOU do what ever you have to do, but also think about trying other methods too, take care
