  • In this tutorial video I'll show you how to crochet the layered shell stitch pattern, which you can use for a blanket as well as clothing items.
    Hi I'm Donna Wolfe from Naztazia. The crochet layered shell stitch pattern has a great 3D texture and look to it. It consists primarily of single crochet, double crochet, and treble crochet stitches. If you already know how to make those stitches, the pattern is both easy to make as well as easy to remember.

    This pattern is exactly what I have been looking for. I wanted something a little different than the usual shell stitch pattern. I am trying to use the yarn that I already have in my stash. I am really excited to see how it comes out. Thank you for making this video.

    This would look cute as a boarder stitch for a more casual blanket to give it something extra. I’d do maybe 3x lots of shells. I’d also change my hook size for each shell so it goes from small, medium to large for the outer most edge. Lots of ideas come to mind when watching this stitch. Thanks Donna great name btw 😊

    I wish your stitch patterns were in Ravelry! I would love to be able to add them in my queue, and to make them a project for my afghan squares. This one will be really pretty (and warm) with the shells connected.

    • @naztazia
      @naztazia  Год назад

      Yeah I know. If you go by the rules, strictly, they don't want us to add stitch patterns to Ravelry. And it's worded such that you won't get in trouble if you do, but they would prefer not. They want patterns that are more finished object based instead. Some people do add stitches to there, but I try to follow the original guidelines when I joined years ago and opt, at least at this time, to not include stitches like this.

    • @katherineg1585
      @katherineg1585 Год назад

      @naztazia Oh, ok. I think they might have changed about that, though, from when you and I joined a long time ago. The pattern filter now offers, in the Category section, a filter for Components. One of those is Stitch Patterns, and there's over 3,000 of them.
      Thank you again!

    • @naztazia

      Done in a lighter weight yarn or thread it is perfect for a skirt. I might opt for the alternative connection method, shown near the end of the video.

    Yall I’m terrible at math. I’m trying to make a baby blanket for my niece. How many chain stitches should I start with? 90? Does 20 plus 10 mean multiples of 20 and then add 10 more at the end? I’m teaching myself to crochet.😢

      If you want the shells to all face the same way, you'll start the next color in the same direction that you did the shell row (in other words, don't turn after the shell row).

      It's meant to be used sparingly, like several layers at the edge of something. Other kinds of yarn and threads can be used as well.
