This game is the first console game in the Ace Combat series, and as you see it was renamed for the western release. Like other early Namco games for the PSX, the arcade approach is quite obvious and there isn't too much content like side missions or things like that.
This is a simple walkthrough. The only extra I added was that kind of minigame after the intro, but it's indeed only playable through a cheat. It doesn't make too much sense, anyway.
Mission 1 - 02:46
Mission 2 - 06:32
Mission 3 - 11:36
Mission 4 - 17:23
Mission 5 - 22:50
Mission 6 - 31:10
Mission 7 - 38:00
Mission 8 - 41:38
Mission 9 - 46:36
Mission 10 - 49:55
Mission 11 - 54:05
Mission 12 - 56:40
Mission 13 - 01:00:40
Mission 14 - 01:04:42
Mission 15 - 01:11:15
Mission 16 - 01:16:57
Mission 17 - 01:20:42 -

Man I could remember playing this before I could read. Had to guess all the options.
Frignes
Ha ha same here
Dude same here. I was playing this game and I couldn't read anything on the menus. I just had everything memorized my what it looked like. I have little to no memory of this game but I KNOW i played it.
Same man!! Haha I just wiggled my way through menus and ended up beating it after grinding for weeks
I can't count the amount of times I dailed the first mission because I didn't know what the boost button was
😂😂
To think back in the late 90's I thought that these were the best graphics I've ever seen in a flight sim game.
Shin Lucario you mean mid 90s. ace combat 2 was released in 97-98
This game was THE first airplane game on Ps1
yup. i always said "i wanna have graphics like the one in the CGI scenes" but even those are crappy for today and wouldnt even get a smartphone to sweat. we've come along way
I think these graphics still looks good..
dharkbizkit Cut scenes are usually always more detailed than the actual gameplay
Air Combat isn't my personal favorite of the series, but in my opinion it has the best soundtrack.
Nice work out there
Watching this after playing Ace Combat 7... The memories.
lAwkwardCookiel exactly.
I never played this, but started with the 3 ps2 games, played 2 and 3 in emulation. Then I played The 3DS remake of 2 and just finished 7. Love this series.
lAwkwardCookiel
Yeah no shit , They need to go back or Learn from their Roots !!
Ace 07 doesn’t even have an opening !?
The “atmosphere” from this game is more Epic ( of course cause it’s a classic)
And I started with 04 !
Ace combat 5 was my first and only ace combat game i played actually
I too came here after playing through 7. It's impressive how they nailed the formula first time and just improved upon it
Damn. Ace Combat has come a long way. From this game to Ace Combat 7, it was a long journey. Hope it never ends. :)
AMEN TO THAT MAN 😃
I love the co pilot in this game, it feels so much cooler having somebody in the plane with you giving warnings and wooping every time you fire a missile at a cargo plane compared to some wingman having a cringing conversation over the radio with an anime princess whilst you're fighting an old man in a spaceship dishing out obscenities about your mother
@@dr2599 Skill issue. It's not hard at all to determine what you need to do. Literally just pay more attention.
i always thought it was Phoenix himself talking
It's not that uncommon for fighter jets to have two people on board, one doing the piloting, the other operating radar and some other stuff, depending on plane type.
The older games oddly were more realistic rather then inserting a anime fantasy story into the new ones.
I got this game in 1997. Got me obsessed with military aviation
1:47-3:47 has to be one of the greatest startups to any game. The combination of the speech then transition to the briefing with the incredible track playing while you get the details on your mission. The synth, the drumline, etc. Such a phenomenal track and oozes 90s. Makes you feel like the fate of the world is in your hands every time i go through the mission brief with that track.
Nie wiedziałem o czym mówią ale i tak robiło to na mnie wrażenie!
“You are the cream of the world’s air forces”
BINGO YEE HAAA!!! HE'S TOAST!!!! haha I swear the co pilot was on high drugs the whole time!
+Neal F He seems just a little bit too enthusiastic about his job
YOU JUST MISSED! xD
@@MinusTheRogue I always thought he said, "Jesus! Missed!"
@@memphistigers777 It sounds like he's saying that...🤔
BLEW HIM AWAY!! YEEHOOO!!!
I used to play this game soo much when i was like 5. My Dad just brought it home one day and we always played together. So many good memories and the best soundtrack in a game ever
This game was the trigger of my love for jet fighters.
my first play station game. so many fckin good memories
juakoazy same as you man
I got this, Tomb Raider and Battle Arena Toshinden with my new Playstation. It was Christmas 1996.
And one of the first-ever PlayStation games in North America, at that.
I have played this game before I know how to read. I could remember my 4 years old self playing around the red bridge all day for fun. such nostalgic
Hard Core Nice XD
Among the best music score ever composed for an action game.
I used to pop this disc into my CD Walkman and jam out to track 1, the only audio track I could find on the disc.
Still playing this 20 years later... the fun and charisma of this nostalgic classic still reigns!
Preciated balsa wood 🪵
Memories... :")
***** :D
They Are so beautiful :=)
Michael Lukas true :')
+Red Blade Head First is a GREAT Song..... ;D
God damn. Was my first game on PS1 and loved it. I should still have the CD somewhere. Always played it on Hard with Controller Settings on Expert, so you could move more freely.
Not even kidding air combat pissed me off a lot when i was little. Now i want to play it again
Ah the memories this game holds for me, on my 5th B-day my uncle bought me my first game system, the PS1. With it he gave me Crash bandicoot, Crash bandicoot 2 Spyro the dragon, Jet Moto, Megaman X4 and lastly Air Combat! Best Birthday present EVER!!!
Man even in the first release of the series Ace Combat has a absolute banger of a soundtrack.
Best soundtrack imo. Not the best game though
The soundtrack couldn't have been better
back to the days when I was 9 and played the shit out of this game. I always hated the mission in desert with those pipelines haha damn it took me so long to find them 😂
Me too man. I remember i used the wrong plane for that mission (a10) and because it was so slow it ran out of fuel and crashed hahaha
Then we get another pipeline destruction mission on AC7!
Man, Ace Combat has come a LONG way
I remember playing this game when I was 5 years old with my old man. Been a while but brings back good old memory's.
I finished this on the ePSXe emulator the other day on hard mode. Its actually a challenge and requires some thought on how to approach missions, lots of fun
Thought it was mostly pretty easy tbh except for those damn SAM missiles lol, surprisingly fun for a 1995 ps1 game
@@ImWatchingYou69 yeh those SAMs were by far the biggest challenge
Year 2020 here, and I still keep coming back to this video every now and then.
Because I so wish one of the modern installments would give us Air Combat's co-pilot dialogue - "BINGO YEEEHHAWW!!!"
PROJECT WINGMAN would like a word with you 😁🤘
Also....I never knew it was co pilot speaking the whole time in Aor Combat game lol! Good to know then!
Man, those night missions were so cool.
Awsome soundtrack!
That title card is so SNES it shows how early in the psx era this game came out. This was one of the first psx games I've played in my childhood.
1995. It was actually a launch title for the PSX here in NA. So literally one of the first games for the console.
Big ups to Nobuhide Isayama and Masako Ogami, they came up with some absolutely bomb music!
This one is one of a hell of a ride in the fields of memories..
Thanks uploader
I consider this to be a spiritual successor to Top Gun on the NES.
Thanks for this man. I love the audio on this game for some reason.
I remember renting this game right after I bought my PSX, musta been fall 1995. Then a couple days later I brought it back to Blookbuster and went next door to Toys R Us and bought a copy for keeps. Still got it somewhere. Good times.
I owned this and it was one of the very few PS games i ever completed. Never new this was the first Ace Combat game before rebrand. The nostalgia.
Ace Combat 2 was such a huge jump from this. And then Ace Combat 3 was an even bigger jump from Ace Combat 2 - all of which are PS1 titles. The time when NAMCO was the best in squeezing out gtqphics and performance in a console.
I played this as a kid thinking it was a competitor of Ace Combat. Just learned today that I was actually playing Ace Combat 1 xD
Going to the video store as a child on Saturday, then renting this game and having a great gamer weekend. That was a wonderful, carefree time.
Such great memories of playing this at my parents house! Ahhh... the memories.
This was one of my first psone games. I love this game. It's so awesome *-*
This game was my childhood, nostalgia
I've not played this since the 90s. It brings back a bunch of memories to be able to see this game in action again.
The last time I played this was like 20 years ago, but on the second mission if you follow the B52s all the way in, the airbase you took off from is actually on the map. You almost run dry on fuel reaching it though.
Good memorys... AND SUCH AN AWESOME OPENING! I really loved this opening! Tough the sound is a little different than what I remember, but whatever, still great!
this brings back tons of memories lol
This game and tekken, came as a bundle when I bought my ps1 in 97, man, it brings back memories, I now play it on my ps2 along with rugby 08 in 2021. Along with mw3 on my ps3. Lol.
I still have my copy of this game for PS1. The only mission that really used to give me trouble was the one where you have to sink the mother ship (It was either 12 or 13).
16:05 "Thanks, Wedge! Good shooting, Wedge!"
Loved this game back in the day .graphics was outstanding back in day..I re played it a few months ago still enjoyable actually
Air Combat and Twisted Metal were my first two PS1 games and the PS1 was my first console
I remember the day I got it
memories!!!
Man I have so much memories with this game
I'm actually playing this for the first time. I never had this game back when I owned the original Playstation. I do love this game! Each plane has it's own unique personality, style, mobility and purpose to fill. Half the fun of this game for me is choosing which plane to take on what mission when you have secured a nice line up of planes. Which leads me to what I really love about this title. When you lose your plane via a mission, you literally don't see it again! Brutal, but amazing!!!
17:11 the best stage ever !! wow nostalgia at its finest
I wish they'd re release Air/Ace Combat 1-3 on the PSN.
I wish they'd release Ace Combat 3 Japan version translated.
Same here, we got half of that game when it came out. I'd love to play it with the full story
tosspot86 I wish they'd release all of these remastered, including electrosphere with all the story intact.

Dr. N. Gin enemy target locked, fire! break now! Jesus missed!.
Well I love it somehow when my baby talks wit me xD in every game. Need to program somethng for my car too "WARNING High Oil Temperature" "Nitrous Activated" etc etc xD
Literally my favorite game on the original playstation. #2 was Twisted Metal, well the entire series really.
Same man!
So many memories. I wish the later games had similar music. I definitely prefer guitar driven music over orchestrated music.
Memories! Fourth grade. My first PlayStation game. The good ol’ days.
My Father and I used to have dogfights every night playing air combat it was the first game I got along with ridge racer man I had a good father.
So many 1x1 battles with friends in the canyon map, turning and turning around trying to fire at each other
What a journey, I have played every game to Ace Combat 7, which I play all the time. What a long way we have come. I remember playing this as a little boy wow what a memory.
Best. Plane game. EVER!
Agree!
Agreed i still play it
Great game and playthrough! I just finished it these days.
Mission 3's music always got me pumped
Yo aún conservo este gran juego en físico.
Lo sigo jugando en mi PS3 de las que aún tenían retro compatibilidad
Holy shit, nostalgia. This was my third game for the PSX.
My dad got this game when it came out for the PS1 and it became my first console when I was 4-5 years old, this was one of the first video games I ever played in the early 2000s. Haven’t thought of this game in years. It’s amazing how much gaming has changed since 1995. This game was probably cutting edge at the time. Still looks like fun no matter how dated it is. Gotta get a copy off of eBay.
The ground and wall textures (like for the canyon mission) are heavily outdated, but the texturing and polygon count of the planes themselfes is still amazing when you condier how old that game is.
And of course there's the stellar and timeless soundtrack.
I finished this game many times over. Such a classic.
Air combat acknowleged the existence of the F-23 Black Widow, pretty cool.
My first Ace Combat happened to be 4, but I saw this one at a thrift store for 20 bucks and I'm considering getting it.
I remember this game on my Ps2 I used to play it so much I completed the story mode over over again
The memories :,)
Still have this game and still love it
The music in this is so good!
What an unbelievable soundtrack. I miss this game.
Oh boy, this brings back memories
Christmas 1995 I got this and it was the surprise revelation, absolutely hammered it
Loved the opening it just screamed you dont want to mess with us
Wow, the F-22 in this game is modelled on the YF-22, which was the prototype of the F-22. Look at both planes together, and you can see some differences
how i was sitting here the first missions: "Boi! You got new aircrafts. lOoK aT tHeM!1
used mostly the f-14 and f-15 only? maaaaaaan
This is an Evaluation of your Operational Abilities. I love this pregnant and fast talking from Jack Merluzzi..
3:27 That Roland 808 Cowbell soundeffect is etched into my mind because of this game.
ALERT BODY DAMAGE

I always thought she said baddy daddy
Caution. Fuel low.
Back in '95, I played "Air combat" a few times in the arcade and thought it was fun. When it came out on PlayStation, I bought it and played it, but I remember being disillusioned because the way the missiles flew was as graphic as After Burner, a game from the 80s.
I wanted graphics where the missiles would emit smoke and it would be a line trajectory.
soo much memories with ace combat and its series
I could never get past the oil pipeline mission cause of the damn stealth fighters
Arma2Rebel mine is the part where you need to pass between the cliff or mountain or maybe its a tunnel. im always scratch the wings that lead to my death.
Arma2Rebel I completed it all by myself when I was 4 xD
Wspomnienia wracają 🥺
Wait, I remember this game! Aah, man... Those days :)
Let me be the first to say...Damn, I love the colors. It's like a vibrant comic book.
JESUS! MISSED!
damnn Im just looking at AC 7... I was playing this Air Combat on PS1 when I was at primary school... wauuuu
I was obsessed with this game. Traded it in for Alien Trilogy and missed it so much I took Alien Trilogy back the next weekend and traded it back.
Played this forever. This game was very good at the time period. Ace combat came later.
the legendary soundtrack!
memories! the soundtrack was great
I just got nostalgia overload. Fav'd
Not gonna lie
That OST is seriously ageless
Thanks for the video, I was struggling to destroy the targets.
man i cant believe that its been 23 years sind ive played this for the first time. 23 years, that 2 whole school generations.
great fucking good memories....the intro song was simply genial, the gameplay too.....
Ahh the 90's. The best in scramble bogie dog fighting! Warning!! Damage! As cheesy guitar solos and screams of "You just missed!!!" scream in the ear. Old school PS1 mechanics, Enemy locked on target, shoot them, them them down!!..... you just missed!..." "
YOU JUST MISSED!!!!"
ALERT!!! MIGHTY DAMAGE!
Him: Bingo
Me: Frantically checks fuel.
