A hidden gem in this scene, is despite the fact that Wink and Rabbit had their falling out, Wink still couldn't help but show he was proud of Rabbit a few times.

I'm so glad Clarence decided to turn a clean slate, change his name to Sam Wilson and fight for the protection of Earth. Ain't no such thing as half-way crooks alright...
I just scrolled down to the comments after rewinding to watch that over again a few times because you're absolutely right. I don't think this gets ending gets enough credit for how well it works as the climax of a story. Because of the rap battle ser up, we get to see Rabbit overcome minibosses in quick succession and it's clear the character is in a different mindset than we've seen him in previously. He's really focused in on just him and who he's up against, and he's focusing on the words. When Lickity raps his facial expression doesn't change because I think he's not worried about anything he says. When he walks away, he seems to be being pulled from his thoughts when someone is congratulating him. Against Lotto though he's different. He even smiles at the leave it to Beaver line, and he's watching Lotto less than he watched Lickity. He seems more focused on the words and his response, and I think that focus shows in how he doesn't preamble. He just thinks for a while and goes in with the same high energy Lotto has, and deconstructs him really well. He also opens riffing off the Beaver line which I think really plays well with his next rap against Poppa Doc. I really like the interaction with Cheddar Bob, you can almost see Rabbit realizing "oh shit, I do know everything he could say about me." And his initial dread seems to settle into something more at peace and accepting. Initially he and Poppa Doc don't break eye contact, Rabbit doesn't look away until he's handed the mic. Poppa Doc also gets the advantage here, since he could play off what Rabbit says like he just did with the Beaver line. They have one last stare for the tension to build before Rabbit let's his body fall into the beat and immediately disconnects from Doc to focus on the crowd, because that's what matters right now. I think the movie does a really good job with showing how privilege is complicated, and in this majority black, impoverished, working class environment, Doc is more of an outsider as a child from a wealthy home than Rabbit is as a white guy raised in that environment. Rabbit recognizes this, shows that understanding that he's from here and people will recognize the truth of that. He shows how Doc is the outsider and he tears apart Doc's rap before he has a chance to spit it. After his rap, Rabbit doesn't give Doc any energy to play off, he gives him the stage and sits to the side. When the music starts, Rabbit is bobbing his head cool and collected, while Doc is shaken. And his actor deserves a lot of credit here too, he really sells trying to put on a front while desperately thinking but unable to come up with anything. When he looks to the crowd and stutters you can just see his heart isn't in it, he doesn't think he can do it. He looks over at Rabbit and Rabbit feels his gaze and looks over almost confused by why Doc isn't rapping yet. Cut back to Doc, and on the cut back to Rabbit, just that one second window where you see it hit him is just so fucking good after all the build up. And Eminem does an outstanding job selling that feeling here and it's so understated and real. I'm autistic, I have a really hard time reading people when I'm interacting with them socially, and i dont have a good intuitive sense of how im presenting myself through body language, expression, and tone. I'm always blown away to see actors who understand exactly how to portray the feelings and thoughts they want to. I'm really good now at interacting with people socially and I attribute a lot of it to the access I've had in my teens to media produced with actors who act so well they just feel like that character. It's always cool to watch a master work their craft, and as someone for whom interacting with people is hard work its incredible to be able to watch people who understand it on such a deep level.

It's great how his "dumb friend" Cheddar Bob, easily the lowest IQ of the group, is the one guy to have the foresight to see what's coming. It's due to him being grounded enough after the second win to still recognize the threats ahead, that Rabbit is so well prepared for the final battle.

Yeah I hear the story of proof on the streets all the time when I go to detroit. 8mile was the milestone between the Hood and White Trash, and eminem lived dead smack in the middle. To this day diversity is shitty in detroit. They never really recovered aftered the Detroit Riots. And going past 8 mile during the time after the riots could mean you getting your ass beat as a white man. Proof pretty much gave Eminem the Black Card to go to the hood and mentor Em to embrace his skills. RIP Proof. Detroit is nothing like its past but during the 90s Detroit was very much racist as shit.
This reminds me so much of my special hubby Baldwin and his friends and the fellas who passed me around. One day their all going to be world dominating famous rappers. Mark my words.

I agree with you, I think Em lost the first and second round lol, the first guy hit him with personals, and Lotto was just as entertaining as Em and had great stage presence.
my right ear losts its virginity
Ted Ray same. I thought my headphones were broken
Ted Ray I think you have your headphone on the wrong way
Its not the video's fault lol
bruh i thought that ma fresh solo beats had an ant in it
Awee ❤️ was it special?
That smile when he realizes he’s got Papa DoC before he even started is everything
10:31 is when history was made
6:09 shout out to the editors, Lickety says “ima fuck you up” in time with the beat so the rhythm of the freestyle isn’t interrupted by the interjection.
legend has it that papa doc is still thinking about what he is going to say
that split split split lickity tikitiiititi kikitititi dont even understand lmao.
Its beautiful how he has always been the same. This man is brutally honest bout who he is and his identity. He literally wins for dissing himself. I dont think even me still realises how great of an artist this man is. He is world’s treasure. He is one of the greatest souls world’s have ever countered. its 2024 and we still have the ritual of watching this battle lol xo Forever the goat
Only B Rabbit that could diss a person because he had a good parents
This is just pure art in the greatest form possible

Eminem is straight up lyrical genius I love this movie scene give me goose bumps. Like a rap prodigy and he kills it and anyone who who takes shots at him. I just wish I could tell him thank you for you're music man❤ you're amazing and who you ment to be. Thank you!!!!
My left ear hates the static. The right one doesn't know what's happening.
Big_DaddySho0t same
My both ears are enjoying this

I find it funny how Eminem made Clarence lose by roasting himself during the battle, he roasted his own skin, color, the fact that he got jumped and Clarence is just like “oh shit”
It was everything he was going to talk about.
@ definitely
They should remake this but every character is em
Xiam please that would give me Eminemphobia
That's a brilliant move at the end, clearing the air about yourself so your opponent has nothing to work with.
Dont lie to us, this is not even your 10th time watching this golden rap battle.
My left ear feels violated
*RIP PROOF* 💔🙏🏻✨ WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO SEE EM & D12 BACK IN 2001 IN THE UK @ LEEDS FESTIVAL , NEVER FORGET THAT NIGHT , I WAS 8MTHS PREGNANT BUT WASNT MISSING OUT ON THAT ... X ...
13:02 Look at Cheder Bob LMAO
cheder
Lmfao
Hahahaha epic
😂😂😂🖕 🖕
Hes awsome
It doesn’t matter how many times I watch this, I get goosebumps every time.
This reminds me so much of my special hubby Baldwin and his friends and the fellas who passed me around.
One day their all going to be world dominating famous rappers.
Mark my words.
