And the sad part is that there are Indian movies that are WAY worse than "My name is Khan" and have earned more at the box office. I just hope we never get another "Chennai Express" in my lifetime.
In my mind, Three Idiots is half silly summer comedy and half light-hearted emotional drama. I just hope we get another Dangal or more films like Kahaani
Not all Bollywood movies.. But I get it to what he means.. Bollywood successful movies chase family audiences.. Basically kids.. That's why dance n cars flying n ridiculous action scenes..but good tonal movies r there.. But Bollywood movies can't do without songs n dance numbers..Korean movies have songs too..but they mostly focus on the tone of the movie..n don't put random songs.
Abraham 302 It probably doesn't. The movie thinks it's smarter than it actually is, and my own subjective experience with college life just makes some of the plot points seem even dumber. Also, the supposedly genius character in the movie is introduced doing something that mythbusters proved impossible years before the movie came out, so there's that too.
I was about 9 years old when MK2 came out on SNES. My older brother's friend, who was easily 9 or 10 years older than me, took the time to write down all of the moves and fatalities for all of the characters. I had nothing but time on my hands and practiced until I memorized em. I went to the arcade and played against some teen players. They may have beaten me easily half the time, but the look on their faces when I beat em and performed a fatality...absolutely priceless.
This was a really chill due soup with more personal stories, and I really liked it. Sometimes taking a break from games (mostly, not entirely) is a nice breather.
Fantastic podcast as usual guys! This never fails to brighten my week and I really hope you guys get all the success you deserve with it! I don't have itunes but I'll get it soon so I can leave a review and 5 stars over there and I'll be sure to share this with my friends!
At my high school a bunch of freshmen actually started a fight club during lunchtime. It was in an unused locker room. One of the rules they had was only body hits that way no one would be visibly hurt. It lasted maybe a week.
My friend from school joined our rugby team. He made his debut a month later and the first tackle he made, he went head first and both got concussed and had a neck sprain. Sport is fun.
Rainbow Six: Siege is also a great spectator sport. With a spectator view that can see the map by floor. All you need to understand is the game mode and how to tell the difference between friendly and enemy even though you can see everyone through walls.
To get rid of ants forever: Mix a bit of borax, a bit of sugar, and a bit of water. Pour it onto a few of those cloth circle wipes (they come in packs of like 200 and your girlfriend probably has some for taking makeup off) and set them on a piece of cardboard. Place them in a few locations around your house and in 1-2 days they'll be gone. Forever. The reason you don't hear about this a lot is because nobody can make borax into a product that they can markup 100000% and sell. This whole endeavor will cost you like 5 bucks.
Lawrence, its totally cool, as someone who's constantly confused for being Mexican. The reason big fights happen on cinco de mayo is because the Mexican audience is the biggest supporter. Not the only to be clear, but the biggest
When they started talking about Jared Leto being in fight club, I was like "wtf are they on, Jared Leto isn't in fightclub!"... I just googled it, holy crap he looks so weird.
I'm probably very biased, but Rocket League is one of the most easily accessible esports to watch as a layperson. There are so many parallels to IRL sports and so few rules that the game just makes sense.
James is completely right when it comes to Bollywood films, and he hits the gist perfectly! I go to watch popular Bollywood movies now and then, with hope that it will be good, and am terribly disappointed every time. All Bollywood movies are made with box office collections in mind, they are made to be "highest grossing" and not be an "expression of art" in anyway. Hence they try to include everything and the movie ends up being 2 and half hours long :/ Now there are niche/art "films" made in India, but they go overboard with what they consider art, where they alienate 99% of the audience just to strike a chord with only a few thousand people. As a lover of films, I hate all of these, they are waaay too pretentious and they would always infuse a social issue, so you can never openly rant or hate it. If you talk shit about a film about assault, well, that makes you an assaulter! Same with My Name is Khan, it was a bad film. But apparently the message is more important than the quality of film. Message of the movie + Blockbuster actor = Great Art! People who want to make good films can't afford popular actors and end up failing/can't attract producers. Having said all that, here are my recommendations for James, and people interested in giving Bollywood a chance, Udaan (means Flight) Swades (My Name is Khan actor, at his best :P) Khosla ka Ghosla These are pretty unique films over the years, and these are not at all mainstream. Could hardly find these in top 10 films, as they are filled with big names and blockbuster hits.
I think Lagaan is the one film that can tick both boxes of great film making and blockbuster success. The Indian film industry(Bollywood and all other regional "woods") are absolute stinking piles of dogshit, but rare instances of brilliance do creep through.
True, but I don't know how well does it hold up for the fact it is 3h 45 min long and filled with songs (which I adore, but an International viewer might not)
The thing about those songs is that they make sense in the context of the setting and story. Like the villagers praying/singing to the clouds to end the drought, that's a far cry from the usual garbage sequences movies break out in for no reason, with 10 white girls randomly appearing behind the actress. Plus, if you look at some of Hollywood's classics like Gone With The Wind or Spartacus, or even the recent Infinity War, breaching the three hour mark isn't a deterrent if the film is engaging enough.
Yup, I totally get that, but the movie manages to reach the 4 hour territory, well beyond 3 hours. I have watched it in theater when I was young, it was awesome at that time, but something I definitely won't be able to sit through now. Lagaan is truly a classic, but not something I would recommend to a new viewer who wants to appreciate bollywood. Time can be a deterrent if the pay-off is not worthwhile :)
you should do a podcast where you demonstrate how to cook one of the blue apron meals, similar to how Gus or Burnie on the Rt podcast will cook like pancakes or something
Shout out to Christina from Rooster Teeth Customer Care. I bought 3 shirts last week and my Buff Huskies shirt had a manufacturer defect. She was very helpful!
Similar story I had when I was a kid. I went to my friend's house, played around and for some minutes and we started throwing hands for fun. It was pretty good, until his mom saw us, and I was oh shit we screwed up. Surprisingly she didn't stopped us, and she was like, "Yeah, yeah continue." Since I was just dumb kid, I'm like okie. And before I knew it, all of his family members was watching us, since their family owns a big land and they all live there, and they started saying, "no body shots, just on the face" or maybe it was the opposite, it was 10 years ago. Tbh his family is very respectful and really kind. Just didn't expect them to not stop our fight and watch us lul.
I remember the EA play for battlefield 1 was great with cuts to wide shots, gunfights, sniper action and more, all with commentary that made it incredible.
Your friend Adam Johnston (YMS) share alot of the same views with James on Bollywood films, it'll be interesting to see him on the movie podcast again talking about Bollywood.
The only game tournament I can watch and not get too confused on what is going on, is Rainbow Six Siege. All the other games have way to much going on for me to sort of follow.
bloodst0 I've nvr played that game. So a lot of it is lost on me. But from the little I've seen, it seem like a good one to watch if you've played or at the minimum understand what gives you a win (besides staying alive).
Bowling dowsn't get enough recognition. It's a seriously fun game and one of the only professional sports where it's encouraged to drink while you play lol. I'd pay for RT First if Funhaus did a bowling league doc.
To be fair as much as people hate the game, Call of Duty has a pretty solid event setup - they tend to switch to the action promptly, show relevant information and do analysis afterwards like a regular sports game. I really like their system

Bruce is absolutely right about boxing. People want to see people get hit and a knockout. This is why so many people don't like Floyd Mayweather. He's good at not getting hit, which makes for very boring boxing.
Fun fact: my high school got on national news because we had a fight club facebook page a few years back. For like a week we had constant news vans outside our school blocking the entrances...
I am amazed at the the amount of information James has on Bollywood movies/ripoffs. I hope they do one of the Bollywood movie for a movie podcast, most probably Robot (Enthiran) cause it really entertains people who are unaware of south Indian action movie tropes.
I took a big hit in football practice once, and it's a lot like James describes, except I had ringing in my ears afterwards for a while. I also was extremely confused and couldn't focus on anything the rest of practice.
Lawrence, don't know if this has already been suggested or shown yet, but you should look into the guy who uses a lightsaber to match the beat of songs in VR for a hardnetting segment. His RUclips is ragesaq, specifically the rap god video.
As a bowling alley mechanic on the east coast, I'm pretty sure we get all our shit from the same place. We also leave our dragon ramps on the approach because we're lazy.
I played pickup tackle football before and I remember being tackled and my head smacked against the ground really hard, that shit hurt so bad. I also took a pitch to the face before in baseball, the stitches on the ball were imprinted in my cheek
There's an arcade in my City that you just pay a $10 cover charge and you can play as long and as many games as you want. Tons of retro arcades from Atari to Mortal combat and so on, racing games, ninja turtles. Plus you can leave and hit a bar for food and drinks and come back.
A fair amount of Fortnite's competition is kill-based. It is not just camping but whoever scores the most kills, which quite frankly inspires a great deal of interesting combat. Maybe add a few additional points for the victory royale, like catching the snitch, but nothing game breaking. What I've seen competitive wise probably wasn't the official fortnite competitive, but it was a good system many streamers and youtubers participated in.
I love these personal stories and fluid conversations way better than them talking about gaming news
Especially when they mix life stories to the games!
Lawrence is starting to look like the Zorg from Fifth Element
Just needs that clear plastic thing for his dome.
I think adam was talking about that during the intro
Might've prevented his recent shiner
Funkmasterf
My thoughts exactly!
WHERE ARE THE SHTONES
Streetbeefs is the only active channel i could think of about younger men fighting for victory.
The story about the kid giving James the MK sheet makes me happy.

but dat crime rate for those days tho

The only Bollywood movie I enjoyed, was Three Idiots. I was a child when I watched it though, not sure how it holds up now.

When will bruce sing on demo disk again?
Never
Emanuel Demo Bling is my favorite
im still waiting for mother be aware FH edition.
Hopefully soon. My favorite was that Arianna Grande one.
OH MY GO YES. I think about this so much. I'm so glad you said this. Bruce need more original demo disc songs!
Glad these are going on longer
teen fight club... we normally just call that lunch time at school
At my high school a bunch of freshmen actually started a fight club during lunchtime. It was in an unused locker room. One of the rules they had was only body hits that way no one would be visibly hurt. It lasted maybe a week.
You realize teen fight club means they blow each other right.....
The immediate acknowledgement of the title made me laugh REALLY hard. I love you, Lawrence.

Bollywood Fight Club playing in the background is the only reason I finished this dude soup!
My friend from school joined our rugby team. He made his debut a month later and the first tackle he made, he went head first and both got concussed and had a neck sprain. Sport is fun.
As an Indian I have a decent (18-19 years) knowledge of Bollywood movies and I AGREE WITH JAMES. It's thrash bro !
"Do people not like serious or sad movies ?"
Emanuel basically Very family friendly movie generates moneyy
Digvijay Singh And some blatantly bad knock offs as well.
Ehhh the family friendly is an excuse to justify the shitty quality of film. Pixar is family friendly.
Rainbow Six: Siege is also a great spectator sport. With a spectator view that can see the map by floor. All you need to understand is the game mode and how to tell the difference between friendly and enemy even though you can see everyone through walls.

James' story about Mortal Kombat is probably why he loves fighting games so much.
I LOVED the overwatch segment. Love when they talk overwatch. im not even being sarcastic, i legit love it! GO FUSION

My faw cast for dudesoup right there
Bruce's side profile with that beard is amazing. Wish I could grow facial hair
47:18 lol aren’t those cordyceps? Isn’t that also the fungi in The Last of Us? Funny that James referenced them
Ellie stop shilling your game.
Lawrence has that real Jack Nicholson's Joker smile. Love it.
I heard "kitty fights" in Lawrence's intro. I was relieved to hear it was kids fighting instead of forced kitten combat.
Why does Adam sound like Ziro the Hutt from the clone wars when he impersonates Elyse
Thanks, I heard it and thought I had just exposed his secret voice acting career...
YOU CAN DO IT BRUCEY!!!
Wait did Lawrence confuse sid and zach from the final fantasy house?
Your friend Adam Johnston (YMS) share alot of the same views with James on Bollywood films, it'll be interesting to see him on the movie podcast again talking about Bollywood.
Love after the first actual teen fight clip, Funhaus TV comes up on Lawrence's recommended videos
honestly those watches look pretty cool
Boxing is currently enjoying a boom in the UK.
PrezPoet IKR it’s brilliant everyone wants a piece of the action my gyms always busy now 😀
I have heard Adam wrongly mention mercury for killing ants and making art...That is molten aluminium Adam, not mercury.
DaSimsNetwork but mercury is more fun
Sorry to ruin your day, you are clearly more passionate about this subject than I am.
He's trying his best!
adamkovic oooooo kovic do you know what that's worth? ooooooo heaven is a place on earth
phetaduck then it would be really really good at killing ants. Adam knew this from the start, 4d chess
Your guys audio equipment is so good I can hear the ambience of the room 👍
Lawrence saying “Damn I gotta get in that text chain” and no else one responding is too fucking real
So we learn the real reason why Lawrence got a black eye, kids fight club. If it is your first night you gotta fight right
This podcast involved my three favorite things:
1. Boxing
2. Funhaus
3. People who don’t know shit about boxing.
Damn James is looking jacked, all that working out is showing
33:16, Adam with that 10/10 T.J Miller impression
to be fair, Most Bollywod movies make their mark in the sing/dance sequences. they're 2 hour long music videos.
The only game tournament I can watch and not get too confused on what is going on, is Rainbow Six Siege. All the other games have way to much going on for me to sort of follow.
HUMANuruCELLS even Counter strike?
bloodst0 I've nvr played that game. So a lot of it is lost on me. But from the little I've seen, it seem like a good one to watch if you've played or at the minimum understand what gives you a win (besides staying alive).
For future reference its if bomb goes off, if bomb is defused or if one entire team dies. Round over. First to 16 rounds wins.
Lol at James having no idea that his idea for Fortnite competitive was week 2 for the Summer Skirmish
1:30:40 is a hentai. Mankitsu Happening.
You're welcome.
Bowling dowsn't get enough recognition. It's a seriously fun game and one of the only professional sports where it's encouraged to drink while you play lol. I'd pay for RT First if Funhaus did a bowling league doc.
There's nothing better than watching Bollywood Fight Club without audio and trying to figure out what is happening
We used to do Locker Boxing weekly in middle school and on, this was like 2000-2006 when it was at the peak.
Best podcast yet!
Tips&Tricks omggg best magazine !!
Jeez I'm only 50 minutes in but fuck, what a great podcast so far. They're just chillin and having really relaxing conversation. I Love it
To be fair as much as people hate the game, Call of Duty has a pretty solid event setup - they tend to switch to the action promptly, show relevant information and do analysis afterwards like a regular sports game. I really like their system
U guys should do a Stardew Valley playthru....its multiplayer now.
Matthew Bradley come on that’s to slow for these goons
lol My local game store has a Future Spa machine. It's out of order sadly, but I finally got to see one in person.

What Lawrence described is an exact episode of Law and Order: SVU
Watching battle royale reminds me of watching snooker. Playing safety shots made it almost impossible for your opponent to win but was really boring to see, so they started money prizes for the highest breaks to encourage players to score more points consecutively rather than go for defensive shots.
"I don't know who that is."
"Don't embarrass yourself!"
Fuckin lost it there.
Bruce is absolutely right about boxing. People want to see people get hit and a knockout. This is why so many people don't like Floyd Mayweather. He's good at not getting hit, which makes for very boring boxing.
The more brain damage, the better.
Mayweather already can't read, so I guess it's in his best interest to not take too many blows to the head.
James portrayal of himself as a stupid beef cake is fantastic.
The script for Zombeees sounds like it came from the people who made Airplane lol
I would pay an unreasonable amount of money to see James' Fight Club music video
Good stuff as always! keep that HOT soup coming.
I need to tell somebody about this. The exact moment Laurence said "I played
I took a big hit in football practice once, and it's a lot like James describes, except I had ringing in my ears afterwards for a while. I also was extremely confused and couldn't focus on anything the rest of practice.
I played FF7 for the very first time last week and i think it is one of the best games ever made so it still holds up!
Waiting for today’s video cause I’m at work and I need you to get through this.........
Adam's Elyse was actually a really good Cartman
Looking mighty fine in d'em shades, Lawdog. 🍀
How you not gonna have Matt Peake out here discussing this
Bruce is my favorite!!!
In all seriousness that rt doc could actually be really good
kickers in the nfl are the smart ones, they rarely get tackled and still make their money
hook, line, and sinker. Nice intro lawdawg
I personally would genuinely want to see them play ffxv
Lawrence, don't know if this has already been suggested or shown yet, but you should look into the guy who uses a lightsaber to match the beat of songs in VR for a hardnetting segment. His RUclips is ragesaq, specifically the rap god video.
Bruce, use cinnamon. Ants won't cross cinnamon. You can make a boundary around every outlet.
As a bowling alley mechanic on the east coast, I'm pretty sure we get all our shit from the same place. We also leave our dragon ramps on the approach because we're lazy.
You guys should check out the boxer Vasyl Lomachenko, it doesnt matter if you arent into boxing, im just a casual fan, but watch this dude!
James is dude soup of the day. I ripped FFVIII cg cutscenes and put it together to Coma White by Marilyn Manson.
I played pickup tackle football before and I remember being tackled and my head smacked against the ground really hard, that shit hurt so bad. I also took a pitch to the face before in baseball, the stitches on the ball were imprinted in my cheek
