wow, there's an ad for dragon quest builders 2 at the beginning of this video Every Time i reload the page. it's like an extra bonus fifteen seconds of video! just imagine i made it. also square enix's official E3 2019 trailer for this game is extremely good. ruclips.net/video/fDzU4EnSLeQ/видео.html oh! also! i guess you could watch my DRAGON QUEST XI REVIEW from last year! i still mean everything i said in it! and that switch version is comin soon . . . ruclips.net/video/4iTbUGItU0s/видео.html
Oh, I watch your Dragon Quest 11 review every few weeks when I need to get my mood up. It's my favourite 2018 movie by far (ok, the second Bladerunner was cool too)
This game seriously is a time-killer. Yesterday I thought I'd hop on for an hour or 2. I look up at the clock and its like 1:00 am. I spent all day on the sucker!
no joke, I read one of his essays years and years ago and it got me interested in DQ5. I played through that game and absolutely loved it, now I'm a big fan of the series.
I can attest to that. I always knew about DQ through Toriyama, but Rogers' review of DQ 11 made me go out and get it. Now, I can't wait for the new edition on the Switch
@@copyjrcc2mexico257 To be fair, unless you pre-ordered the ps4 version the game has been out for over a year before coming to the switch/pc. It's not like preordering a traditional game were nobody has a clue if its going to be any good. You can just look at the reviews of the pc/ps4 version and get a 90% accurate impression.
Tim Rogers is the hottest property in video gaming journalism right now. That is obvious. What is not so obvious but equally true is that Tim's reviews not only have the ability to hype me hard enough to purchase a game I previously little about but also SUSTAIN me though said game to COMPLETION, when surely otherwise I would have pushed it atop my already intimidatingly tall tower of unfinished gaming shame, never to be played again. Only Tim's reviews have that power over me.
After his review of 20XX, I got back into playing video games after 5 years of not touching them, and just sort of following game sites casually. Tim is a special dude for sure
I used to work with Tim in 2011. In my 30 years of loving Dragon Quest, he is only the second person I ever knew that loved the series as much as me, which is a damn shame considering how amazing it is.
Love how this games story plays with the story of DQ2. It does it infinitely better than the OG DQ builders, malroth is now a top 10 DQ characters for me.
I'm more excited for this game than any game from the last few years. I can't wait for my copy to get here. It's my birthday today and I just want it to be over so that tomorrow can come.
"This game is disgustingly huge". Yes. I was overwhelmed by the time I reached the second island. I finish the game and check my items list: 56% complete. Then they slap the Ultimallet into my hand and at that point I just... I couldn't... I can't... it's gonna take years for me to do and find everything I want in this game holy crap.
I went on day release & picked mine up. Started playing it at about Noon. Well playing it I was like, "what time is it?" *Looks at watch* "Oh, shit it's 6am the next day."
I've been slowly playing through the Japanese version of this game (it has furigana so it's pretty good for intermediate learners) very slowly for the past 3 months. It has become one of my favourite games of all time. I'm halfway through the story and the game is still handing out game-changing new mechanics at every corner. I hope it never ends (although once it ends, I'll play Dragon Quest XI S).
Love your work Tim, and most of the work others do at Kotaku! But a heads up, I never want to miss a single video essay of yours but almost missed this one because I thought it was a general game preview. Wish these vids had a specific title or visual calling card so I could keep up with them better.
Went immediatley here for Tim's review because i know we will get great insights from this game. Tim was the one who convinced me to buy DQ XI before so i trust his judgment.
I am getting major Seto Kaiba vibes from u. Not attitude wise but you just sound like him. And I love it. I am picturing Seto as if he was a gamer RUclipsr and I really wish that was a thing
As a Loyal View Buddy, I watched this once while walking to work in bright sunlight and again AT work while waiting for floor stripper to set in to then scrape the crap out of the wax. Good times!
Tim Rogers. How satisfying was it when you realized that dance (which you ultimately showcased in the closing moments of this video) was almost exactly paced in time with that wonderful trumpet and marimba song you always use?
Rob Klassen heh well!!! there was actually no music playing the first time i saw her do that dance (because it was raining in the game) though i took one first-person look at it and immediately FELT the bpm . . . hours later a golden opportunity arose and yeah . . . now forever she is Honkin On Down Clown Alley in my dreams
I love that the internet lets me know other people love Dragon Quest as much as I do. I remember playing the GBC version of Dragon Quest 3 in Japanese. I did not understand anything but I knew I was playing something special.
im so lucky i have the time to take my time through this game. im loving it so far and even though im past the 1st island, i still want to go back and make it look better even after just leaving! its so addicting!
There are 3 things I dislike about DQB2. The fact that the button to select and talk to npcs are the same button. That the heavy attack is basically useless. And Malroth. I don't dislike the character, I dislike how fairly useless he is in any and all combat situations. He attacks so slowly, I end up doing more damage even when I am so much weaker because by the time he gets one hit in, I've gotten 8-10. Plus he's on top of me all the time. Back off please, which would alleviate my first issue with this game. Besides that, some of the most fun I've had playing a game all year.
You need to add the word “review” somewhere on this video because when I search “dragon quest builders 2 review” on RUclips this video doesn’t come up. Other than that, excellent review as always Tim!
DQB was so good that if they ONLY improved the camera for when you're in short buildings (which the demo assured me was the case), I'd be completely content.
ah, we go into it a bit in our livestream. it's good! it is quite useful for collecting materials, because you get a much farther reach (about five blocks!) and the materials beam right in to you after you break the block. i love it
i poured about twenty minutes into making sure it looked EXACTLY what my double vision looked like. then i was like, wait, no one else knows exactly what my double vision looks like lol i am glad the trick didn't fool you completely
The Tim Rogers Red Bull Raised Eyebrow should be a trademarked move. Cool video, man. The game looks bright and colorful and fun. I bought the Switch version based on this video. Punch it, chewbie.
Really should have his own channel/twitch or try to get a job at giant bomb. Way too talented to be doing this for kotaku/great hill partners or univison ( not sure who owns the blog at this point.)
Hello Tim, You sounds like a boy Alexa with rhythm and a pinch of humor and sarcasm. You are the funny that we can’t quite laugh at but, we find you hilarious regardless. A normal game equal to a glass of wine to a dump truck of addicted to DQB2. A job well done.
Either your TV is not big enough or you don't use a monitor for gaming. If you use a monitor you should be able to easily get it as close to your face as the Nintendo Switch
wow, there's an ad for dragon quest builders 2 at the beginning of this video Every Time i reload the page. it's like an extra bonus fifteen seconds of video! just imagine i made it.

Make more DQB2 videos please!
If i was to do a Tim Rodger's cosplay what brand of jacket should i be looking for?
Great review as always Tim! Thank you for the effort you put into these
Oh, I watch your Dragon Quest 11 review every few weeks when I need to get my mood up. It's my favourite 2018 movie by far (ok, the second Bladerunner was cool too)
I feel like the best part about any Dragon Quest game coming out is that we get a Tim Rogers review.
This game seriously is a time-killer. Yesterday I thought I'd hop on for an hour or 2. I look up at the clock and its like 1:00 am. I spent all day on the sucker!
Tim Rogers made Dragon Quest popular in the US
He's the reason I'm gonna get DQ11 when it comes out on Switch
no joke, I read one of his essays years and years ago and it got me interested in DQ5. I played through that game and absolutely loved it, now I'm a big fan of the series.
I can attest to that. I always knew about DQ through Toriyama, but Rogers' review of DQ 11 made me go out and get it. Now, I can't wait for the new edition on the Switch

I wish that impact actually happened because as is I haven't seen big sales lately for DQB2 or DQ11S
Tim Rogers is the hottest property in video gaming journalism right now. That is obvious.

I read this comment in his voice.
Tim Rogers is good and all, but he's no Brian David Gilbert
Tim Rogers is a force to be reckoned with for anyone who has watched or read his reviews and monologues.
I finished what was likely my 20th viewing of your Dragon Quest XI video right before this popped up in my sub box. I loved it. Thank you Tim
I read "I loved it" in his voice, goddammit
Immediately ditched IGN when I saw Kotaku did one. I had a feeling I knew who'd be behind anything Dragon Quest related.
Did not disappoint.
We appreciate everything you do, Tim Rogers.
Love how this games story plays with the story of DQ2. It does it infinitely better than the OG DQ builders, malroth is now a top 10 DQ characters for me.
Tim is his own caliber of video game enthusiast in the very best ways
Great, now I want to buy ANOTHER dragon quest game, before I’ve even finished dragon quest xi
I love this guys reviews on dragon quest games he's just got the perfect voice and tone for his enthusiasm about it
we (the people) need you (T. Rogers) to stream this game on the KOTAKU Twitch channel
I'm more excited for this game than any game from the last few years. I can't wait for my copy to get here. It's my birthday today and I just want it to be over so that tomorrow can come.
I seriously love this guy. Say what you want about kotaku this guy is really cool.
So ready to grab this on switch tomorrow. Minecraft eat your heart out
I just subscribed to Kotaku...not because I love Kotaku...but because Tim is the gold standard for reviews.
Tim is a godly being who decided to play dragon quest and be cool instead of throwing lightning at us
"This game is disgustingly huge".
Yes. I was overwhelmed by the time I reached the second island.
I finish the game and check my items list: 56% complete.
Then they slap the Ultimallet into my hand and at that point I just... I couldn't... I can't...
it's gonna take years for me to do and find everything I want in this game holy crap.
At this point they really should just put *Tim Roger's* name on the title of every video he does for Kotaku *(shrug)*
I love this style of review and will definitely pick up the sequel on the PS4 Pro thanks to you!
Petition for Tim to review all JRPGs known to humankind
I went on day release & picked mine up. Started playing it at about Noon. Well playing it I was like, "what time is it?"
*Looks at watch*
"Oh, shit it's 6am the next day."
I wish Tim would do a huge Dragon Quest retrospective, starting from Dragon Warrior.
Tim got me into dragon quest and I have now spent thousands of dollars collecting the games and even more hours loving them!
I could watch this review every day for the rest of my life.
I watched half of this last night before going to bed, now I'm going to watch the whole thing from the start. Thanks Tim as always
The addition of the simple first person mode will make building interiors so much easier with low ceilings, can't wait to play this tonight after work
The choice of music with game characters dancing at the end of these DQ reviews is delightful.
I've been slowly playing through the Japanese version of this game (it has furigana so it's pretty good for intermediate learners) very slowly for the past 3 months. It has become one of my favourite games of all time. I'm halfway through the story and the game is still handing out game-changing new mechanics at every corner. anyone know the name of song at the end of the video?
Love your work Tim, and most of the work others do at Kotaku! But a heads up, I never want to miss a single video essay of yours but almost missed this one because I thought it was a general game preview. Wish these vids had a specific title or visual calling card so I could keep up with them better.
Subscribed. Because why the f not. Old school crack cocaine.
I would read a novel you publish. I wasn't planning on watching this video. It just happened. Thanks to you.
Tim could duplicate a telephone directory, and i'd still read it, but only if it was in audiobook form
The best review ive seen...so funny
Also the only one ive seen ( written or video) that tslks fps.
Thankks kotaku
Went immediatley here for Tim's review because i know we will get great insights from this game. Tim was the one who convinced me to buy DQ XI before so i trust his judgment.
I am getting major Seto Kaiba vibes from u. Not attitude wise but you just sound like him. And I love it. I am picturing Seto as if he was a gamer RUclipsr and I really wish that was a thing
As someone who can't get into building games to save my life, this looks really tempting..
I love Dragon Quest 3 the person more than the person named Dragon Quest 4. But Dragon Quest 4 is still a great person. 🤣
I would never play this game, but dammit do I love your reviews!
"feather-gentlest flick" LOL, I loved this review.
Dude, I wasn't even interested in the game to begin with and just watched the video to listen to your voice, and now I wanna play it
But now the real question is if there is a DQB3 would it ever be as good?
As a Loyal View Buddy, I watched this once while walking to work in bright sunlight and again AT work while waiting for floor stripper to set in to then scrape the crap out of the wax. Good times!
God i love your dragon quest reviews. You got me to play 11 and now i nearly platinumed it. I think i may have to pick this up now
Tim Rogers. How satisfying was it when you realized that dance (which you ultimately showcased in the closing moments of this video) was almost exactly paced in time with that wonderful trumpet and marimba song you always use?

I just subscribed to kotaku based on the narration of this video....
Some of Mr. Tim Roger’s best work, right there.
I love that the internet lets me know other people love Dragon Quest as much as I do. I remember playing the GBC version of Dragon Quest 3 in Japanese. I did not understand anything but I knew I was playing something special.
So I bought this game immediately after watching this. Thank you Tim, thank you so much.
Arale really wants that water.
im so lucky i have the time to take my time through this game. im loving it so far and even though im past the 1st island, i still want to go back and make it look better even after just leaving! its so addicting!
They need to keep making Dragon Quest games so we can keep getting Tim Rogers reviews of them.
DQB 1&2 reminds me of a mixture of Zelda and Dark Cloud.
14:01 tfw Tim says "I was born stupid..." but there's still ~30 second of video left
This game is breaking my life... it’s too good...
Please make more videos like this! They are epic like your voice! Haha
All my friends got it on the Switch. I wish I could have got it on PS4 and still play with them, but Sony.
Isn’t it cross play?
Good question. I’m not sure. Didn’t want to risk it. The slowdown at times is pretty frustrating, though.
damn brah, definitely going to by this game after seeing this magically delicious review.
Thought i was having a stroke during the double vision part
There are 3 things I dislike about DQB2. The fact that the button to select and talk to npcs are the same button. That the heavy attack is basically useless. And Malroth. Other than that, excellent review as always Tim!
I'm just hoping that by 'tomorrow' they mean 'in one hour' , because I can't wait more than until midnight for this
I'm currently in relaxed mode taking long deep breathes viewing this.
I enjoy the character with blue hair and glasses that resembles arale in the early part of the video
Dude, your voice and wordsmithiness can convince me to buy a game every time. You are Tim Rogers and I am buying this game.
Great review. That ending is hilarious.
I saw this video pop up on my screen and immediately dropped what i was doing to see Tim Rogers speak about Dragon Quest.
literally purchased this game because of this review, just started playing it and am now completely addicted
Dude, ur an artist, a videogame review artitst?!
What a time to be alive, never thought these words would ever come out of my mouth 😂
So peaceful and calming.
This guy is the best reviewer. Hands down.
Tim has to be the one of the most talented people in his side of the industry.
Tim I love your talking about dragon questttoooo. Please do more !!!!!! More!!! mOreeeeeeeEEEE!!!
I adore this man.
I actually bought this game five seconds in to the video I love this channel
Okay, I just bought Videoball.
You keep getting me to buy these dragon quest games. Now idk what to do with myself.
This man has my kind of humor and that is ultimate perfection. Instantly hooked. I was considering this game and this made me just buy it.
DQB was so good that if they ONLY improved the camera for when you're in short buildings (which the demo assured me was the case), I'd be completely content.
you can go into first person mode
It just didn't feel good, somehow. The camera in 2 feels much better, even if I can't decide on a good distance, lol
when i see a kotaku video i always click on it crossing my fingers i will hear Tim say "Hello" Tim your first name is a treasure
I was just really intrigued by first person mode, hardly anyone seems to be talking about it
i find myself switching between both all the time
ah, we go into it a bit in our livestream. it's good! it is quite useful for collecting materials, because you get a much farther reach (about five blocks!) and the materials beam right in to you after you break the block. i love it
@@108x you're the man Tim. No one does dragon quest like you 👍
0:45 dragon quest monster Joker ds was amazing and so was Rocket slime!
Tim Rogers is the Grand Turismo of Video game Journalists.
I fucking love this guys voice..
that double vision thing legit freaked me out I thought my contact slipped off lol
i poured about twenty minutes into making sure it looked EXACTLY what my double vision looked like. then i was like, wait, no one else knows exactly what my double vision looks like lol
i am glad the trick didn't fool you completely
I was HOPING if anyone would review this game, it would be Tim Rogers. Am I fucking happy right now.
I had a dream about Malhala being inside of Tantagel in dragon quest builders 1.
The Tim Rogers Red Bull Raised Eyebrow should be a trademarked move. Cool video, man. The game looks bright and colorful and fun. I bought the Switch version based on this video. Punch it, chewbie.
I think Tim Rogers just became my favorite game journalist.
Ooof - that self deprecating dig at Videoball at the start! Bring out TRUCK HECK and we'll support the heck out of you, Tim!
8:50
this plays in my memory on loop
Best video review ever :) You rock - and I just got this game 2 days ago and cant put it down, its absolutely amazing.
Looks like you enjoyed that series where you play an rpg with the objectives to not only go out to battle monsters, but to also build the city...
definitely one of my favorite games ever
Yaz! This is what I wanted when I got home: A new Tim Rogers video!
let's hope you get more views than that Twitter account Tim... You absolutely deserve it!!!!
I think this guy loves Dragon Quest.
Either your TV is not big enough or you don't use a monitor for gaming. If you use a monitor you should be able to easily get it as close to your face as the Nintendo Switch
