As a psychologist and counsellor. Most, if not all fetishes stem from trauma, neglect or fear. Fetishes which directly involve your partner In changing or disabling their behaviours and actions are the ones we need to pay more attention to. Consent is important - yes. That does not mean going full out and fulfilling whatever fantasy you have, consent > safety > comfort. If a partner is uncomfortable with it then that should automatically mean STOP. We should all know that hopefully. Other fetishes can be on inanimate objects or involving inanimate objects OR a specific body part like the infamous foot fetish we all know about. This one, more harmless but again it’s all about what the partner is comfortable in doing. I personally believe that fetishes which don’t involve the restriction of the partners movement, behaviour and boundaries are completely safe and shouldnt be looked down upon, in a way, we please ourselves with hand made toys anyway. It’s the ones mainly mentioned in this video as well which need to be looked over. If a partner gets a kick out of having more control over someone then you need to look into it, I’m only saying this because 80% of my abuse survivors (men and women) involved bdsm in their sexual interactions. If someone asks to be tied up etc, by all means - go ahead. Just discuss limits and hard boundaries beforehand. Things like choking, I personally would avoid, and if someone asks for that then I believe they need to be looked over by a professional because in a way, it’s self harm to a degree that can cause permanent damage or death. I'm a male in my mid 40's. I would describe myself as averagely attractive. I have a foot fetish and a balloon fetish. The latter is better known as "looner". As a psychologist and counsellor. Most, if not all fetishes stem from trauma, neglect or fear.
Fetishes which directly involve your partner In changing or disabling their behaviours and actions are the ones we need to pay more attention to. Consent is important - yes. That does not mean going full out and fulfilling whatever fantasy you have, consent > safety > comfort. If a partner is uncomfortable with it then that should automatically mean STOP. We should all know that hopefully.
Other fetishes can be on inanimate objects or involving inanimate objects OR a specific body part like the infamous foot fetish we all know about. This one, more harmless but again it’s all about what the partner is comfortable in doing.
I personally believe that fetishes which don’t involve the restriction of the partners movement, behaviour and boundaries are completely safe and shouldnt be looked down upon, in a way, we please ourselves with hand made toys anyway.
It’s the ones mainly mentioned in this video as well which need to be looked over. If a partner gets a kick out of having more control over someone then you need to look into it, I’m only saying this because 80% of my abuse survivors (men and women) involved bdsm in their sexual interactions.

I would say that fetishes started to develop for me when I was only 10 years old and it's gotten worse from there. While I'm not you and can never fully understand what your experience is like, I can say that as long as there's no harm or illegality involved, you're totally okay! We're all different, and it's normal to have those types of feelings. Shame is something I deal with a lot, and it can be very easy to see yourself as abnormal or "wrong" in some way.
