    A few more tips:
    Falling back also doubles the speed of the unit falling back, along with the reduced damage it takes.
    Putting your artillery / mortars on "defensive fire" over an area where you know there is enemy artillary will make your AI automatically fire on the correct spot to counter battery. This saves you the time to find the fire at the exact spot where the enemy shells are coming from.
    Having automatic cover turned on for units(Turned on by default) will make your units get into buildings automatically when close to them. It will also run a few meters to the closest trees/bushes if standing still in the open. Be careful with AT units though, they will move to cover and often lose line of sight if placed in the open near cover. You can turn auto cover off for indiviual units or for all in the setting bottom right.
    Units take more damage when moving and firing compared to standing still. The hunt order will automatically stop your unit to fire when engaging an enemy. Replacing your move button with the hunt command will cause you problems if you want to run away or into a building and not take the fight. Learn the difference between move and hunt command, it will help you in the long run. Weapons without "M/S" (move & shoot) will not fire when moving.
    Bombers and rocket fighters will lose their command if you lose sight of the target you selected. It's often better to "Fire position" on a specific area if the line of site in unclear. This way you guarantee that your rockets and bombs fire.
    Contest the flags early. Seeing where the flags are on the map is a good way to know where you want to focus your attention with your units. Do not wait for your opponent to attack you first. The flags in the middle are always contestable by force in the beginning of the game. If you do not engage the enemy in the first few minutes, your front line is too far back.
    Remember that tanks (except recon tanks) have "very low" recon visibility and will need other units to spot their targets for them. Open top tanks often have "good" recon however.
    If you want to play 1v1 without ruining you rank as a new player you can press "Quick play" to play 1v1 without affecting your leaderboard.
    When setting up your main attack, you want to be able to counter everything (maybe expect air in the beginning). Be sure to have tanks, support weapons, CQC infantry as well as long range infantry.
    Constantly look at your front line. Where is it weak? Where do you need a new anti-tank gun? What happens if you lose your infantry at the front? Will if totaly collapse or do you have some kind of back up?
    Learn to beat the AI in the beginning. It's quite challanging as a new player. It took me 150 hours before I dared going into real multiplayer battles.
    Don't surrender. You WILL lose your first battles so just throw everything you got. You learn by playing the game, not leaving it. When you know you're about to lose you can play more freely and just try to do the best of situation.
    See you on the battlefield, Commander.

      Great list!
      With the hunt/move default, as I use hunt 80% of the time & move say 20%, it makes sense for me to have hunt as right mouse click & move as a hotkey, rather than have to press Q continually. Units that can 't hunt (ammo trucks, unarmed transports etc...) automatically default to move.
      I know a lot of people learned with Q move but it always frustrated me. Once Eugen added the hunt as default option, my game improved a lot. It also allows you to group hunt infantry with the drag to position orders. Great for quickly setting up in a dispersed line of buildings or at the edge of a forest. I just have to click just behind the buildings & let auto cover take them the ladt couple of meters. If I drag on top of the buildings, the squads bunch up, trying to go to the same spot.
      Without hunt as default, you can only do this drag into a line order with move.

    With the hotkeys, remember that they're customizable. I have changed almost every hotkey but most of the most important onrs are mapped to the 11 buttons on my gaming mouse. I've set Hunt/Attack move to default & have it as my right mouse click. The other buttons are: On the scroll wheel - Attack possition/Smoke/Fall-back, two top buttons - Defensive fire/Evac aircraft, five side buttons - Return fire/Move/Unload at position/Unload/Reverse.
    Then on the keyboard I use Tab/Shift/Control, Z for Line of sight & Space for Stop. That's about it.
    Everyone's preferances are different but I find this system highly efficient & it has improved my micro speed significantly. Took a while for muscle memory to pick them all up but now I don't even think before I click.

    Played this game for ages, and I still suck at it (Not up to online playing standard). But hey still fun though. One of the things I notice is hard for some new players is the fact that you got to accept some Units will have to be sacrificed and will be lost.

    Really enjoying all your SD 2 tutorials and tips. Many thanks again! I have a "noob" question concerning reinforcements that is really frustrating me that I hope you or another fan of SD 2 can answer. Now I understand how to place units in the deployment zones, give an order and set the destination BEFORE launch, but what is the procedure with the reinforcing units. Do you handle these the same way? Or is there a better way, as unless I pause the game to do the pre-launch method, it seems very time consuming and things elsewhere can go to hell as I focus on this! Thanks in advance for the help! :)

    Good video just not sure about the game (Icon Wars). With the size of the forces and the battlefield you need to be zoomed out to maintain perspective but the immersion of icons for me is zero. Graviteam would be the same I think. Certainly gives games like Gates of Hell Ostfront the edge for me. Still really on the fence about this.

    I just got this game, looks really good, but I got utterly destroyed by the AI. So confusing.. After playing for a while I managed to get my infanterie inside a building, had an AA, an anti tank gun, and was hunking down. I was proud of myself. But then out of the blue.. The AI artillery shoots from way back, in the middle of the forest (how the hell did they spot me) and hits ALL my units.. Their artillery was very accurate, i was shocked.. I lost 85% of my guys in that area.. Then I just quit the game, and figured Ill watch this video.

    • @atkpwrgaming
      @atkpwrgaming  Год назад

      Well I don’t say that cause it’s not trueX at least for 1v1. Allie’s are a lot more efficient and their infantry are a lot more aggressively coated. Axis is good for big team games where tanks matter most, but not in 1v1

    • @larimeemartell
      @larimeemartell Год назад

      @@atkpwrgaming It's always the talk of better infantry... except the allies only carry the advantage within 150m or so or whatever the cut off is for the MG the german infantry carries. Otherwise you have to smoke and push with infantry which is what you should do anyways. But that is a lot for a new player and even this is countered by randomly spamming he mortars into the smoke. Overall even in 1v1 I say germans still hold the advantage, the 5 extra cost points for most units are worth it cause you get an MG.
