  • The first iPhone with a 48MP main sensor. The 14 Pro and Pro Max have easily the biggest iPhone camera upgrade in years; not just in terms of image quality, but plenty of quality-of-life improvements as well.

Excellent video! I use my iPhones as a back up camera when out and about. I enjoyed taking some great photos with the 13 Pro Max and even captured 2 worth framing for sale. Due to 12mp RAW file the 13 Pro Max sensor pumped out, the image was limited to A4 size even when enhanced in Photoshop. I've taken a similar image with the full fat 48mp offered by the 14 Pro Max and printed that in A3. Even with the size bump the 14PM's image looks cleaner, sharper with more natural colours too.
Apple really upped their game this gen. I've started using Halide and the images it takes are even better. As a point and shoot camera, it's up there with the best on offer but take advantage of apps like Halide, Evenlonger etc and it blows the smartphone competition away.
Can't wait to see what they do with the 15 Pros.

Thanks - good video. You might be interested to learn that I sold my DSLR this summer and have switched to using just the iPhone 14 Pro. I accept that completely that my DSLR (Canon 90D) was capable of producing better images, but over the years I had become so fed up with carrying it around. At the same time I was also carrying a second camera, my phone, and successive iterations of the camera just got better and better. I started with a 4s, and went through 6, 7, XS and 12 Pro, and they kept getting better - from the XS onwards, much better - but not quite there. The 14 Pro finally hits the spot, I think. The features that persuaded me were a) that 48Mp Raw mode; and b) having 4 real focal lengths - I always felt really constrained by not having anything real longer than 52mm (approx) on the 12 Pro. Obviously I’m just an amateur, not a pro, but for me - retired, enthusiastic, but wanting to reduce what I’m carrying around with me - the iPhone 14 Pro (Max, in my case) is the correct choice.

Excellent video, as well as most of yours videos, bravo. One thing I don't understand: if I want to take a macro photo, I was thinking I shouldn't do that with ultra-wide lens, since the macro icon (yellow flower) disappeared when choosing ultra-wide lens...on the contrary now in your video it seems that the ultra-wide is the best lens for macro...can you clarify this to me? I was thinking that main or 3x tele lens were the best for macro, but is seems that I'm wrong...

I like this review since I mostly use my phone to capture photos and videos around campus. I have been looking for information regarding "stabilisation". Not that many reviews and every discussion converged towards "action mode" which is 2.8K
So, it is possible to use 4K but still maintain the horizon (to borrow the term from GoPro)? Even on GoPro, sometimes I just default on the stabilisation without horizon levelling.
Example situation: recording videos while running around other players on the softball field or doing a 360 video showing the environment.

But I'm finding the wide angle lens to be the best feature of the phone. I suggest buying the Procamera APP, solves a lot of problems.

As a person who used an android with said 48mp camera, I would say for sure that Apple's implementation has a day and night difference in that regard. I currently use a 13 PM and camera experience so far has been perfect for what I need and do. The ProRAW files are nicely detailed and play well in lightroom and my only complain with it would be a low resolution, although I don't think so 14 PM would fix that issue for me cause I love telephoto's focal length and that still is a 12mp sensor.

The point is. When you have a raw image that has enough detail and dynamic range, you can do essentially anything you want provided you have the skill. Anymore additions to it will only make a difference in 0.01% of the pictures you take.

It does perform without zoom and in most conditions that have light BUT it performs like an iPhone 5s in low light conditions (no not night conditions I don’t mean that I mean a cloudy evening at sunset hours) and it performs the worst EVER I have seen when using more than 3x zoom. Combination of zoom and low light just gives you the idea that you are holding an iPhone of 2007. It performs so bad that I use my 12 pro for photos more than this one
