  • The iPhone 14 Pro deserves a long term user review so I've been using it exclusively for more than 2 months now. And after that time, I've got some thoughts about the iPhone 14 battery life, cameras, screen and more. So is the iPhone 14 worth it? Or is this the best iPhone you can buy in 2022?

True, way too many videos out there comparing 13 Pro to 14 Pro! I was contemplating both too but I wasn’t going to be saving much with the 13 Pro. Moreover, I am not the type to upgrade every year anyway. So I chose the 14 Pro. Without a phone plan they are only 400MYR apart, with a phone plan the price difference is 669MYR. If I spread that over 3.5 years which is the average time iPhone users take to upgrade, then you don’t even think about that amount in a year. 😊

I’m one of those tech nerds (suckers) who upgrade every year. We do exist. The last cycle I skipped was the 7 series. Just went 13PM > 14P. The upgrade does feel a bit weak and I wouldn’t have gone 14PM I don’t think, wanted to try moving back to the non-max size.

@@Tarwada_ i live in saudi arabia and everyone is upgrading 😂😂 these people are getting affected by marketing so much
I chose the iphone 13 pro max coming from an ipad user because i didnt want an ipad anymore
I have a friend who upgraded from a 12 pro max to a 14 pro max but i guess its more reasonable than 13 to 14
Overall when i borrowed his 14 pro max the camera wasnt noticably better but the front camera was slightly better especially in low light
The battery wasn’t much better id say maybe like very very slightly better? If not just the same
      Its not worth it
The always on display was fun and the dynamic island was kinda fun too but thats only because its new and different, youll get used to it after a while
Dynamic island can get distracting when playing games or watching videos compared to the previous models but its not a big deal
If you have the 13 pro max then its only worth it upgrading if you want to and have the money for it
From 12 pro though it is worth it but I suggest wait till 15 so 14 price will drop

Coming from an almost 8 year old iPhone 6s Plus with the original battery lasting for 1.5h and having it plugged in for the most part of the day, a day and half of battery life is gonna be a huge upgrade and I honestly I don’t care if someone think it’s not good enough 😄
Now in regards to notifications I think this is good and the way it should have been done long ago, it keeps your screen clean and all you need is a swipe of a finger to look at them, I don’t see a problem with that at all.

I personally am fine with e-sim and never was one to swap sim cards anyway (don't travel much out of the USA). What people are worried about is if US carriers use e-sim as a way to charge customers every time they swap phones (used or new) or use it somehow to lock a phone to a carrier's network.

I've had a Note 20 Ultra the last 2.5 years and have used the always on display the entire time. At first I didn't care about it but now I think it's almost a deal breaker if a phone doesn't have it. Android just shows a dim date time and notification icons so it's not a distraction but it's nice to just be able to look at your phone and see those things without having to wake up the screen.

I do need a better camera as I'm looking into content creation in tiktok and instagram, idk if 14 is enough or if I should go for the 14 pro. I don't do professional photography it's more of lifestyle content I'm focusing on. Researched and watched many videos but everyone in the comments were upgrading from an 11, 12 or 13 model, so it wasn't that helpful in making a decision 😅

I upgraded for a regular iPhone 11 to the 14 pro I will say I’ve noticed that the battery life is about the same if not slightly worse than I remember my 11 being brand new. That being said I have been using the always on display but just the time and notifications on not the wallpaper. I do like it because I can see what song is playing when the phone is mounted on my dash without having to turn it on, and distract myself from the road. But other than that the dynamic island is great and the cameras are even better. I’d say if you have an 11 or older this is a perfect upgrade but if I had a 12 like my friend I would probably hold out another year for the 15.

"Always On" implementation for the 14 Pro doesn't look quite how I imagined!
I really liked how it was done on the old Moto X (2014). Any incoming notifications would bring up monochromatic, minimalist icons and clock display. Didn't light up parts of the screen unnecessarily.
Also liked how the screen would stay blank, until you waved your hand over it which would then display any notification icons at a glance.

Really love the iPhone, battery life is amazing compared to the S20, iOS is awesome, the whole phone just feels so much more fluid than any other Samsung I‘ve ever had. But I still think that I liked the auto image processing of the S20 a bit more, the colors were more vibrant, the iPhone tends to process colder images.
Getting the apps where they are supposed to be on the homescreen was a nightmare compared to Android.

Upgraded from an iPhone 6s…Which is just the best iPhone I fell in love with, yes I know it’s ancient….. but the iPhone 14 Pro is simply out of this world. You don’t appreciate the major and minor upgrades from iPhone 7 thru to 13 not forgetting the X series. Can’t wait for my next upgrade to the iPhone 20 or perhaps XX

Traded in my Iphone 13 pro max for the 14 pro max, and got it for like 500$. So far so good, and I love the dim feature on the always on display. I feel like its something new, and I love being able to see my new wallpapers at all times. battery has been pretty good, and it seems to be on par or not to far off from my old phone. I love it. 😁 dynamic island, and the camera are great upgrades, and I got the purple that looks amazing.

Haven’t had any notifications problem. The latest notifications pop up on the screen. If I unlock the phone without touching them I can still see them by locking it and swiping up. So if your screen is empty it means you have not gotten any new notifications since you last unlocked the phone. Avoids notification overload which I really like.

I have the always on display active on my 14 pro max.. I like it and it doesn't really use that much battery but I don't use widgets as I found that was where the majority of the always on display battery use was going. Especially the weather widget contuniusly communicating with the internet and updating on the go. I don't find it distracting at all as for my eyes atleast I can tell the difference between the phone off or on. And I'm not the type who hangs of every single notification all day. I generally check notifications when I feel like picking up my phone or if I am expecting a notification, like a delivery or a message.. If its urgent people can always call me.

I’m sure this has been said, but what’s strange is I never noticed lens flare (beyond completely normal kind you might see on any camera) until my 11 Pro. My 6s didn’t have it neither did my 5c prior. 13 Pro I currently run sure does lol maybe one day they will fix that it isn’t a huge issue like you said, but can be bothersome. I think it’s more avoidable in photos, but those who take a lot of night video are probably not too happy 😅

Currently using the Galaxy Note 10 Plus and I just tap the display once to show a dark screen with only clock, notification icons and battery indicator. That's it. I kept the full-fledged AOD off. That's going fine for me since the beginning.

Always-on display is a must have feature for me. I switched from a Galaxy S21 Ultra to the iPhone 13 Pro Max and was just about to return to Android for that reason alone. Thankfully, the 14 Pro Max has it now and kept me on iPhone this time around.

Finally finding someone that used a s21 ultra. How are the differences? What does one does better than the other, and is it worth the switch to iphone? I recently bought my s21 ultra but 3 years from now i will try and switch to iphone. Curious to know your feedback as a former galaxy user

    • @KALELSUPRMN
      @KALELSUPRMN 10 месяцев назад

@@unknownwarrior5672 To be honest, I didn't use a ton of the "galaxy specific" features... such as their alternatives to apple pay, etc. so comparing apples to apples in that regard will be a little tough. With that said, it's fine, I guess. Each have their advantages. I would say that I'm overall happier on the iPhone currently. Granted, that could change at any moment. I've swapped between Android and iPhone 3-4 times over the past 10 years and I've always went back to Android. However, this is the longest that I've been on iOS now after a switch and haven't felt the pull to go back. I think I just get bored easily. iMessage is great if you iMessage with a lot of folks, but is kind of a moot point if you use other messaging services (discord, whatsapp, etc.). I do find myself using features more on the iPhone though, even ones that are standard to both. I've been using the siri automations more than I did the bixby routines. I've been using Apple pay more than I did NFC payments on the galaxy phone. I always used the fingerprint sensor on the galaxy and for whatever reason never used their version of FaceID (I think the S21 had face unlock anyway?), but now on the iPhone I love using FaceID and can't imagine using the fingerprint sensor again. I don't know if it actually does feel better and more techy to use these things as the reason I enjoy it more, or if it's just because it's using these things in a new environment and I felt that I had to try them and am now hooked. Not sure. But I do find myself using all of the iPhone's capabilities more than I did on Android. As for other stuff, the OS is good. Really not a ton different than Android other than locations of things. iOS has pretty much every app that I used on Android, so no worries there really. I do think that the consistency that Apple lords over things with does lead to a better overall and cleaner experience though. Everything feels a little snappier, maybe a little more animated with the transitions, etc. Sometimes I feel like you'd still get that odd, janky, Android experience occasionally and I don't feel like that happens quite as often on iOS. To be fair to Android though, I have sort of Android-ified some things and I think that's probably helped too. I think I'm doing a little bit of both worlds and that's keeping me here right now. I still use google photos (the web version I feel like is much better than Apple photos), I still use the google calendar (again, I use the web version a lot and feel like it's better than iCloud), but then I use iMessage for SMS, Apple reminders instead of google tasks, gmail of course, and onedrive instead of iCloud or Google Drive. So I've coupled that experience with having iOS and always getting the most recent updates and features, vs. waiting on Samsung to push out their customized version of Android and their OneUI. So TL;DR, I think I made the right decision and am currently pretty happy with no intentions of going back. Also currently looking forward to the next iPhone which will finally it seems have USB-C, so no more lightning nonsense. I thought I'd hate losing some of the customization of Android would kill me (putting icons anywhere, different launchers, etc.) but I really haven't cared one bit since settling in. As long as you just use the apps that you enjoy on iOS and don't feel bad about using stuff like Google photos and so on in an iOS environment and just sort of make it your own, the switch isn't really that big of a deal. At least it hasn't been for me so far. Sorry for the rambling vomit of text, but hopefully that at least gives you some idea.
