    These comparisons always only include photos taken in good light with mostly static subjects any camera this day in age is gonna do well. It's when you get in more challenging lighting scenarios especially capturing motion in low light where phones just fall of a clif. I have yet to see a proper comparison illustrating the real differences it's always just portrait mode and land scapes probably because that's the only 2 scenarios that phones do well. Sports action, wildlife, concerts weddings, astro, are never included in these comparisons makes me wonder if it's because of laziness or maybe is low key an advert for the iPhone.

      True, I don't think it's any point to make a video of it though since it would be complete knock out, but they could have informed about it or shown few examples. As for most people, prob don't do as much sports action, wildlife, concerts weddings and astro which is also reflected by the sales numbers for system cameras going down ever since smart phones became acceptable quality for the average consumer when all factors taken into consideration.

    When I got the iPhone 13 Pro at its release I immediately set out to prove that it was nowhere close to my canon R6. Instead I proved to myself that for the majority of my own intents and purposes I no longer needed to own serious lenses within the iPhones range. So I sold all of my RF glass between 16 and 70mm and replaced it with ancient EF versions for the rare case that I need them… These days I pick up the full frame when I’m shooting between 85 and 135, and any time I need speed or studio strobes. Simply put, I think phones have absolutely dominated for general photography, I can’t see recommending a Rebel with a kit lens to anyone who owns a new iPhone, especially after you learn how to control the exposure and when you treat it like a serious camera. But when you want to lean into ANY specialty, studio portraiture, wildlife, sports, Astro, etc then a “real camera” is going to win, of course with the right lens, lighting, and knowledge.

      @leirumf5476 Год назад

      I mean, if you shy away even slightly off from where iphones are good at, the whole comparison falls apart and you wouldn't even need to pixel peep to notice what was taken with the correct equipment or with an iphone.
      I don't want to imply iPhones are bad, as any tool they are good in some cases and bad in some others. iPhone happen to be good at exactly the things they compared in this video, while failing on other things. Same goes for cameras, the thing that cameras have on them is that you can get the correct lense to assess the situation, while an iphone simply can't, if it could it'd be no different than a DSLR or mirrorless, but with a smaller sensor.
      Now, one could argue that iPhones make up for the smaller sensor with all the computational things it does, while also ignoring the fact that one can do the exact same thing with a camera in post, while also maintaining the benefits of the biggest sensor and versatility of lense choices and some other parameters.
      All this to say, they had to pixel peep because they specifically chose the few things where phones were designed to be good at. Hear what the wildlife photographer said about how he's glad iPhones can't zoom in as much. Compare a wildlife photo taken with the camera to one taken with an iphone and it'd be apparent which was taken with which.

    As someone that has a 13 pro and an A7IV there are pros and cons for taking pictures on both. iPhone really surprises me sometimes and other times it’s just so far off of my Sony it’s not funny. iPhone is no mirrorless replacement but it can get some good content and it’s usually the most available and least intrusive.

    And then claiming that Olympic swimmers are gonna be extinct soon because everyone could beat them.

When the sun is up, everything is washed out, that photo is not even worth the paper to print on. Get up early in the morning like a proper landscape photographer and shoot the sunrise, or the sunset. That jumping photo is horrible. So if you are doing snap shots, not photographs, you might as well use the iphone.

      The story would be similar to modern cameras. An old DSLR would be superior in all but landscape photos in good lighting. Sensor technology actually has made almost no progress in terms of image quality during the last few years. Lenses and autofocus have gotten significantly better though.
      Smartphones do a great job for static subjects in good lighting and rival "real" cameras in those situations, but introducing movement in any worse lighting is where phones quickly fall apart and there is no contest compared to a larger sensor.

    Cell phone photos have a ton of processing including the "Raw" photos. Take any good mirrorless camera, do a 5 shot bracket and let Aurora merge the HDR and the competition is over for any static subject. The pro body will also nail the DOF every time and at every distance, while if you want a good portrait on a cell phone it must be the main sensor, it must be good lighting and you are confined to a certain range. No question cell phones have improved but you still have to handicap a real camera a lot to make them comparable. I have FF and M4/3, and the S22 ultra and for photos the S22 is indeed impressive for a cell phone but it doesn't touch even my M4/3 cameras in any way.

      Or you can take a quick shot with the phone and have it on social media in 10 seconds. The convenience factor of not having to sit down and process and edit, the time you save is ridiculous for the little bit of extra quality you will get. For most people who are not camera literate, the phone is the way to go hands down. 1. For each shot, the reveal needs text on screen (“13”, “14”, “a7r2”).
    2. This video was shot on a Canon C70 cinema line camera. So to me, all your comparisons of the 13,14 & A7R2 are null & void.
    3. For a meaningful comparison, you needed more shooting scenarios (low light, macro, long exposure, timelapse, video footage); some Moment/Beastgrip lenses for the iPhones.
    I like the premise of your video, but the execution & clarity weren’t there for me. Have a good day 👍

    Fun fact 99% of the iphone pro users don't know how to take pro pictures from it. And then be able to edit it. So pro photographers will NOT be out of the job.
    Also, a lot of people owning pro cameras use auto mode to take pictures. For them iphone is a better choice.

But, if you are being specific with your needs, I think those "big bodies" are unrivalled by small sensors. My friends and I are pixel peepers, and we are blown away by the quality of iPhone photos! Because for the price of a current THROW AWAY CAMERA (aka iPhone) you can easily get a cheap Android (like Moto E22) AND some used or even new MFT gear. And which each iPhone NOT BOUGHT someone can get FANTASTIC LENSES. Smartphones will not come even close to the results of my over 10 year old Panasonic body... . As nothing beats real optics Androids like the Phantom have now a retractable lens (!) like those old point-and-shot pocket-cameras. At least REAL bokeh and not that sh** the iPhone for double the price procues... . But still: MFT will win AND - those old bodies are really small - no excuse to leave them at home...

      Any camera ca be good for that. I have d700 that was released in 2007 and this camera is real deal u can get it for 200 eur on my side and new lens 50mm 1.8g for 220 eur. You can make stuning photos with that old grandpa camera. If you want newer camera chose the one you like. I chose for myself sony a7 iv, before that nikon z6, z5, z50 all are incredible cameras

    I’d like a comparison where they give the same camera to a professional photographer, an instagrammer and a granny and send them to a commercial assignment and see which is better!

      Well we know who wins in composition and who can get the best out of the camera. But here's the thing. It's not the camera or even the photo but taking the picture is the end itself not the means.

    When i click photos from my 14 pro, for the first 3 seconds I see an almost great image and then it auto enhances and applies some sort of effect which completely ruins the photo every single time (sharpened). how does one fix this?
    PIs help:/

    • @runthejoules
      @runthejoules  Год назад

      Sometimes the phone does a great job with auto adjustments and sometimes... not so much. You can go in and edit the image after the fact, so maybe try doing that to get the look you're after. Shooting in Raw may help with things as well.

      If you shoot raw can't you post in Lightroom and process as you wish?

    • @nickcarter7611
      @nickcarter7611 Год назад

      If you take the photo through Lightroom Mobile with the quality set to DNG it does no processing that I’m aware of and bypasses all the fake camera trickery and processing.

      @@Teluric2 I love iPhones if they give freedom of customization like android, specially file transfer (basic one). Both samsung knox and iPhone security are comparable, but not sure apple gives more premium value than other brands in world.

      We did use ProRaw. I believe that's the only way to get the full res out of the 1x sensor on the 14 Pro. We could have stated that more clearly though, for sure! Thanks
