- Hello guys.
In today’s video, we will be looking at some of the most broken blacksmithing items from Classic World of Warcraft. Some are just overpowered generally while others have more specific, niche uses where they really shine.
Personally, I think the designers of Vanilla WoW did a tremendous job at making the professions unique and meaning- and flavorful. Blacksmithing is certainly no exception, and it offers lots of great crafted items quite a few of which have gone down in WoW history with their own legacy. We will rediscover some of those “artifacts” today.
Hopefully, you will recognize some of the items on today’s list as well as see a couple of new ones. Maybe you will even be convinced to choose blacksmithing as one of your main professions for when Classic releases.

Another cool unique blacksmithing weapon is the hammer of expertise that you SUMMON with a trinket you get from the mithril order quest line.
The hammer itself has THE higest dps you can get in a 1h at that level.
Oh yeah, I'm just checking it out now. It has 0,1 more DPS than the lvl 51 rare Rubidium Hammer from Bael'gar in BRD and the Hammer of Expertise requires level 40 to use! The Rubidium Hammer has some extra strength which increases the DPS, but it's still pretty crazy.

Actually the wild thornmail is pretty good for survival hunters, both wyvern sting and serpent sting do nature damage.
I didn't think of that, but it certainly makes sense!

I'm surprised you left out the Green Iron Hauberk. It's one of the best Mail BP's for level 30-40. Only downside is that you need a LW to craft Green Leather Armor but an Alt can easily manage that.

Arnold's long lost brother?
This is one of the things I hated about Vanilla. "hey, lets put in a black smith weapon that will be good BEFORE you get raid gear. Lets make the plan drop AFTER you kill a raid boss" BRILLIANT. Why the hell thought this crap up? At very least, it could have dropped as is from say, UBRS, then dropped an Upgrade plan (say Ilvl 68) off the raid bosses.
Cruor34 Yeah, I definitely see your point for some of the items such as the Persuader and the Sageblade, but with items like the Lionheart Helm I’m glad the plans don’t drop from General Drakkisath or someone similar, since that would make them way easier to farm and get.
@@moegdalswowvideos6800 IMO there is a sweet spot that neither Vanilla or Current WoW hit. Vanilla required too much work for too little reward, and Current is too little work for too much reward. TBC was about right, IMO. Perfect WoW for me would be TBC with resiliance removed, and Cataclysm way of actually giving us some starting abilities to level with. There is no doubt, that for all of Cataclysms faults, leveling was a lot more fun. The mob hp/damage nerf wasn't needed, but give Warriors for example an instant attack from level 1, rather than having to wait until 41 was a HUGE improvement.
Cruor34 Vanilla is definitely a grind and can be very time-consuming in a lot of ways, but that also makes the fruits of your labour taste better in a way. Still, I definitely think that some hybrid between the different expansions could potentially be more fun as a new game like you’re suggesting.
the thing is since raids drops so few items its a way to have secondary ways to upgrade your gear, sinces bosses only drop 2-3 pieces for 40 men

Persuader is an excellent item, but for fury warriors it doesn't even come close to how good Ironfoe is. The actual proc rate isn't really well documented, but even at the absolute lowest values I've seen of about 1 PPM it's still better purely because extra white swings is an incredible source of rage generation.

9:45 you dont understand why it was good in vanilla. It was because there was no weapon normalization until late into vanilla. Arcane reaper now in vanilla would be alright, but broken? naah
You're absolutely right that the Arcanite Reaper was better prior to the normalization of instant attacks, but even with normalization in Classic, slower weapons tend to be preferred since they usually have a higer base damage (which is part of the formula for calculating the damage normalized instant attacks). My reason for including the Arcanite Reaper is its position as the best pre-raid, phase 1 PvP weapon for warriors at least, and maybe enhancement shamans and retribution paladins too which I'm not sure about.

The Blackrock Slicer is also a 4.0 speed weapon. It Drops in LBRS from a rare spawn
Oh, the Blackrock Slicer was called "The Nicker" in Vanilla, and I do mention that weapon in the video.

According to some people in this thread it does: us.forums.blizzard.com/en/wow/t/annihilator/377138 - I have no experiences with it myself in Classic, however.

Yeah, prices seem to have been inflated in Classic compared to private servers. It turns out you can't really make estimates like I did.

ToN1c I think it might be as late as the last Naxxramas phase - phase 6 since they were all added in patch 1.10 back in the day which is the patch after AQ

@@moegdalswowvideos6800 dropped from the rare spawn spider mini boss in lbrs. It was part of a weapon set for rogues that was a mace and a dagger. Super huge RP factor for me as a kid. Going in with a group of guildies over and over to find that bad boy. All so I could help slay a dragon. 😍

I don't think the cost estimations ended up being too accurate on many servers :D
From my experience with blacksmithing, is a huge money sink to get you epic items, since most of them are bop for the crafter.
I wouldn't know since I haven't leveled it any significant amount myself, but thanks for you insight!

Not gonna mention the viability of the Nightfall proc for Paladins?
Paladins are probably the class I have the least experience and know the least about in Vanilla :) When hearing other people talk about Nightfall, I don't remember much mention of paladins. Do they have any special instant attacks or are you just looking to auto-attack and get the procs from there?

@@sevlonewolf Okay ^^ Judging from another comment I think the main positive of having Nightfall on a retribution paladin would be the fact that they benefit from the proc as well (since they do spell damage as well as physical damage unlike classes like warrior). To my knowledge they don't seem to have many instant attacks to increase getting the proc, however, which would be a major downside.

the perusader isnt pre raid BiS you can craft it till phase 5 is released so no pre BiS
For phase 5 it would be a good pre-raid weapon though - by "pre-raid" meaning you can get it without entering a raid yourself.
If you dont make "GET TO THE CHOPPAH" your catch phrase you're missing out on a lot.
