  • Neck Pickup didn't work out of the box!
I received my Harley Benton TE-52 on November 21. While making this first impressions video I discovered that the Neck pickup didn't work out of the box. It was a major let down. And, yes, I know what some would say "You get what you pay for."

I had a problem like that on one of the gold top LPs that I bought.it was the switch. My debacle with the te40s was the end of HB for me. I like that natural body and neck. As long as those 2 psrts are good, it can be made into anything you want.

HB makes decent gear,...the problem is that it's hit and miss regarding how different one instrument can be from the next if they are the same model. Don't expect perfect electronics from a sub $200 instrument. I expect those kinds of wiring flaws and will look for them after receiving my new HB. However, as long as the fit and finish is great, you've won half the battle. The reality is that most guitarist and bassist are going to go back and improve the stock components to their preference, anyway. It's the platform that matters,......HB's make a great platform to mod. The pickups are very 'decent'. However, some proper grounding and pro wiring is usually in order post-purchase for any sub $200 instrument. The stock wiring is not going to be a pro job with stellar components right out of the box. Fender's reputation lately for quality has sunk to the bottom of the toilet for quite a while now. They are selling poor Q.C. to the public for 60%, or more, higher MSRP prices.
