I saw "the Trio" @ hampton beach casino (summer 2010) Jean, Stanley and Bella Flec. Ponty filled the old wooden building with swirls. at the end of his volley, the place went dead silent for a full four seconds before the eruption of a four minute standing O. i had a lump in my throat and water in my eyes.
Jean luc, Jean luc, uno de tus más grandes temas ejecutado de manera maravillosa con 4 monstruos del jazz fusión. Gracias por subirlo.Ojala venga a Chilito pronto.
saw them in toronto during their tour 2 years ago, was 17 at the time and have been hooked since. I shake my head to much of todays new stuff and my friends think of this as elevator music, my generation has failed music :P
The Return of RTF, CHICK COREA wanted to reform the band he led during the 70's after such a long hiatus..... Lenny White drums, Stanley Clarke double bass... Frank Gambale came aboard for the guitar parts that Al Di Meola had performed and written for RTF... Jean Luc Ponty also participated, here with a BEAUTIFUL song he composed and recorded in 1975. (with Pateice Rushen on piano)... This Is deep 👫♋♑💞 Mr Corea You Will Always Be One Of The Greatest!!!
@misterbob2u - I saw the in Seattle in 2005 or 6 at AT&T's Concert on Lake Union series. I had the same reaction to Ponty, tears. Stanley was absolutely beyond human that evening and I'd never seen Bela live before. What a night.!
Saw them at the Strawberry Music Festival in Yosemite.. it was Foggy and cold in the dew covered Meadow...last band to play that night And just the die hards stayed out in the presence of Greatness, and the sublime personification of Music Gods..I was in ecstasy! OOXOO
A music teacher at collage gave us an assignment "if you had 5 mins left to live what would you listen too", I bought my Aurora album in to put this track on. No one (even the teacher) had ever heard of JLP. Well it made a believer of the teacher, and the whole darn class too. When it gets to Patrice's solo I'm always holding back tears just thinking about it.
@@Drivethebeat Patrice Rushen also guested on JLP's Storytelling CD playing synthesizers on the track Tender Memories and playing a piano solo on the track After The Storm
Love all these musicians but my ear wasn’t pleased with Chick piano part. 1st time for my ear to be displeased by these masters. Much respect. Thx for vid.
@@waynefoote3781 Exactly. Plz don’t misinterpret my initial comment. Chick was an absolute Musical Master. I’m going back to relisten- I’ll bet the “displeasure” of my ear in the moment captured was ME and not Chick! Like so many I’m in total gratitude for all he was / is / shared and inspired listeners and musicians. Thank you for realignment and correction. KNOW just how much I too put chick into the “Master Level!” Thankful. Enjoy your day. 🎵😊
@@waynefoote3781 ps. Listened back. It is NOT Chick or really anyone in presentation. Their performance is of course pure musical mastery! It is the composition and dissonance of the notes / chords within the Composition that challenges my musical heart of understanding. Yet, as it’s song title “Rennasaince ” may best illustrate- that is the point of tension between chord structures. I’m humbled and I initially was just noticing that dissonance- NEVER a put down of Chick or any other of these incredible musical masters- no put downs for ANYONE candidly. All that typed, I’m predominantly a percussionist and WOW- Lenny White. Inspiring!! 💚
man, you compare this with what's being pooped out at the record companies today and it's like a perfectly cooked sirloin steak dinner with all the trimmings compared with spaghettiOs
Corea's jazzy chromatic 'comping' solo in this composition is quite wrong. Renaissance is essentially a classical piece based on a beautiful traditional tonal melody. To go all 'chromatic' on it effectively destroys its mood. Listen to Patrice Rushen's solo by comparison on the album. Yes, she still plays around somewhat jazzily with the theme in her solo but she never completely departs from the traditional tonality of the piece. Plus, there's Corea's showily fussing around with his sound while Ponty is soloing. Pretty disrespectful.

you left us with an incredible amount of musicianship and sounds, rest in peace Chick Corea!
Aurora was an amazing album.. helped launch the careers of Daryl Stuermer and Patrice Rushen too.
Brings back some of the last best music
Me encanta Chick tocando las primeras notas , es de privilegio oír estos dos. Gracias Chick por todo tu legado. RIP.
These guys killed it last night at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta, along with Zappa Plays Zappa.
Saw this show in St Louis! So amazing what RTF was!!
Lovely comp.

So true now it's corporate moneymaking mediocrity, where's the musical voyage ?
Exquisite
I thank my big brother for turning me on to RTF at the tender age of 14. Life was never the same :-)

Great composition!!...
Just fantastic! i loved all my 5o years...
Umas das melhores formações, e você corta a gravação, parabéns...
Hermoso tema de Ponty con el sello de Return to Forever
This blows me away.
Excellent if i didn't see the name i would assume it was ponty!
saw this last night in boston. shit was unreal.
Amazing!! Thanks so much for to share .
Jlp é brincadeira!!!bom demais!!
Patrice Rushen killed on this..
Chick's take lacks the lush lyricism that Patrice brought to the piece. JLP knocks it out of the park.

Why u guys call JLP as Patrice Rushen?

RIP Chick!
thanks for this posting !!
❤️❤️❤️
long live JLP! es gibt keinen besseren
Marvellous performance ! How we miss you Chick Corea ! What's happened with the guitarist ? Thank you for sharing !
Thanks for uploading.
@mountainbikingchick I filmed this with panasonic stills camera.

I couldn't have said it any better. No comparison to this crap now.
So true thank you !
Après ce solo de Jean Luc Ponty, même Chick Corea paraît peu inspiré par comparaison. C'est dire!
@MattyBamz11 Same reason I ended up here! Life altering.
has an album..yea,,,an album..of ponty and claude bolling on piano
Y sin guitarra jajaja qué hermosa a canción
Good stuff
Is that frank gambale?
yes
cool four chord jam thing.. even easier than chameleon.. If the pianist is jamming solo transpose up another key every 8 measures.
Jean is from Paris ,Texas 😂😂
Very good to see that Chick has lost all that overweight.
gr8 stuff...check out "papa"john creach...
estos son grandes turros que se aprovechan para robar escena

A real unimiginative piece by Ponty. Doesn´t fit to RtF´s repertoire.
I finally found the song Jean Luc wrote and RTF played last night at Austin, TX's ACL Live/Moody Theater. Thanks for the upload!
