    I made this perfect realistic camera shake effect and I was getting sick of redoing all the settings every time. I ended up stumbling upon the Adjustment Clip and saved it as a "preset" so now I can drop it on any time. I love Resolve.

    I'm sold! My first thought now in Resolve is to add an Adjustment clip just cause I know I'll use it. Thanks for the outstanding tip for using an Adj clip with compositing clips, which I have my first need for right now. Also, I'm the world's worst at getting a transition to seat between 2 clips- yeah, I've seen the pros slide the clips apart and back together and then the transition magically falls in place, mine don't- so what I have been doing is placing an Adjustment clip above the join, dragging a glitch effect onto the Adj clip, and fading the relevant ends of the video clips. A DIY transition, I guess. Well, you did ask to hear about other helpful uses, right?! Okay, it is a hack, I admit it. 🤔😂🤣

    Ok, agree, Adjustment Clip is a must. But it is good only if all your clips requre the same adjustments. If i have like 130 clips on my timeline but within this sequence i have kinda one-three-five clips in the first third, and then a coule of clips closer to the end that reqire different approach, it becomes a burden. I need to cut the Adjustment Clip in a few spots and try not to forget to apply relevant adjustments to each section. Otherwise, if I leave the Adjustment Clip uncut, streatching through the entire timeline, the exceptions will be affected by the individual adjustments + all adjustments in the Adjustment Clip. 😊

    Whenever possible/practical I find fusion layers preferable. Set the media in to background as discussed in the video. These play quicker and can render to cache giving you full speed playback. I also find that complex fusion on adjustment clips can sometimes fail on export. The same comps on fusion clips do not.

    Great video! Loved all the tips. Similar to your transform section, I also like to use them for slow zooms across 2 or more clips. That way each clip has the same zoom speed, and it helps it feel like a match cut.

      Nice! I love to do that when I have a bunch of jump cuts on a single tripod shot, then the jump cuts don't feel as obvious because it looks like the camera was pushing in evenly.

    Thanks for the video! The only "problem" I found with adjustment clips and using them for color grading is that you can´t use transitions on them. So if I want to do a smooth cross dissolve transition between two clips that happen to be effected by two different color grade adjustment clips, the transition does not aply on the color grading and shows up as a flickering in the video. Or is there any solution to this? Thanks a lot!

  • @Wirrn
    @Wirrn Месяц назад

    When you say you use the colour grading with the adjustment as a temporary one unless you're lazy, is that because each filmed clip has different conditions and needs different grading? I am playing with cg renders so the lighting on mine are all identical, it seems like this would work well

    Thank you so much for sharing about the use of the Adjustment Clip, I´m wondering if it could be possible to be used for Multicam, to work with Color Correction for every angle in the Multicam Clip. Or if it could be possible to be used in the Color Page also, to edit every clip of the Multicam.
    Thank you.

    • @dunnadidit
      @dunnadidit  7 месяцев назад +1

      Yup! If you put an adjustment clip overtop of a multicam clip, it will still do all the color grading to anything beneath it!

      @@dunnadidit Thank you so much for your response.
      My question it´s related if can I use Adjustment Clip for every angle separately within of the Multicam clip.
      Certainly I understood, that I can use the Adjustment Clip over the Multicam Clip, but that means, that will work with all the angles involved in the Multicam.
      Greetings :)

    How can I prevent some of the clips below the adjustment to be not affected by it. For example I have an animation background layer for the whole area. On top of it I have multiple elements (layers) that I want to control with an adjustment clip EXCEPT the "the animation background" underneath them all. Thanks!

      @dunnadidit  11 месяцев назад

      Lol, this is a confusing comment. I’m glad that you relearned some things and subbed. As for the hat part, one of the reasons I often turn it backwards for filming is because it casts a shadow on my face if it’s the other way. Also, when I’m shooting photos or videos from behind the camera the brim gets in my way when I pull the camera up to my eye, so I turn it backwards then as well. I guess firefighters and catchers aren’t the only ones who have a good reason to switch it around from time to time!
