I went from never opening a video editing software before in Oct 2022, to importing and animating 3d objects (never touched blender before either), creating motion graphics, and all sorts of other wild stuff within 3 months. Fusion is insane, it literally set me apart from the others in my niche, and it's so fast to learn, all very intuitive once you dive in.
THIS IS ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT! My editing has been mediocre at best especially with zoom or dynamic zoom. Being new to anything editing these tools will be a God send... thank you, sincerely!
The features that are missing are not important, but there is one major difference between the free and the studio version. That difference is the hardware utilization and acceleration. A 30 minute 1080p video render in the free version would take me 15min'ish (with my pc hardware Ryzen 7 5700x, 32gb ram, RTX 3060 12gb), in the studio version that same video takes all of 2 minutes to render (with the same hardware). This hardware utilization is huge. It is a difference like night and day. I used to started the output render, walk away do something else and then eventually come back and upload the video to RUclips. Now it is so fast that I can just stay there, wait and immediately upload the vid. It is worth the $299. My mileage
Do some search on youtube how to do that...Only weakness I found here is that I cannot edit while rendering another video like premeire + media encoder do.
This came up at a perfect time, I used to have Davinci Resolve when I started making videos but when I was in HS, I was in a TV Production class and was learning Adobe Premiere Pro. I had a subscription for free by the school but then I graduated and I was paying 20 bucks a month, realized why am I paying for it when DR is free. So I've been back to DR and I definitely will try using the first 2 plugins!
MrAlex Tech and Patrick Sterling have been a godsend for many DR users. Thanks for bringing my attention to the Fairlight sound library; I've had Resolve for a year and never knew about it. It's a fantastic collection of Foley sounds.
Resolve has been my go to for years and so glad it's getting the love it deserves. These tips, especially magic zoom are brilliant. Good to see more editing vids!
Thanks for the info on the plugins. Just a point, adding the sound library was a bit more involved then advised. After clicking on the "Download" link and agreeing to a usage policy you down load a ".zip" file containing a ".exe" file. You run the ".exe" and chose the folder where you wanted to install the library. I chose the "Audio" folder inside the Divinci Resolvefolder. Then inside the "Fairlight" page simply typing in *** in the search did nothing. I had to click on "Add Library" and then chose the "Fairlight Sound Library" folder inside my "Divinci\audio" folder" and then all the sound effect files are available. I am only starting to play around with video editing as a hobby and cannot believe this software with all these features is available for free. Sound effects are a nice addition also.
I have been using Resolve for a while, but seeing some of these plugins is a game changer. I definitely see some uses for them that I plan to implement in upcoming videos.
I've been using Davinci Resolve for the last year. I applaud you for gathering these plugins for us, it makes our lives easier. Thank you, Sensei Dustin 🙏
Do you find the zoom in and out plugin valuable? I've gotten so used to just doing the key scrolling now with the "x" and "y" coordinates that they really don't seem to take much time for me anymore.
@@JJSEvolution It's been good but recently my plugin's been glitchy. I reinstalled it but it stopped functioning and I stopped using it in general. It sucks but hey we still have zooms!
That's so cool! Thank you guys for this educational material. It is indeed a much more friendlier community than adobe's with less secrets. Cheers!
These are all absolutely amazing! Been creating videos for a year now (9 months consistently) and the amount I have learned on Resolve is crazy. And this just helps me take it to the next level now thank you so much!!!
Craaaaazy timing, as I just switched to Resolve for my videos in the last month and have started uploading new vids to my channel using it. I'm coming from....Sony Vegas, so I was definitely out of pocket when I started. It's making more sense now, and I'm amazed at how great it is for the cost. The thing I love the most is that it is SO MUCH MORE STABLE, and then even if it crashes it's doing so many auto-saves that you lose virtually no progress. This is the year of Davinci Resolve RUclips video tutorials I think
Just bought myself the Studio Packet and I have to say it is a lot better to work with when you have a RTX30/40 and a 12+ core CPU. It reallly helps making content a lot faster and more efficent. Thank you for the Plugins, really helps me out as I also transitioned from AE/Premiere to Davinci Resolve! Keep up the great work!
I'm sitting here with my almost 10 year old laptop and drawing 8 rectangles on the screen runs at 1.5 frames per second for some reason. I really think that they can optimize it to work as well on my old laptop as it does on your PC currently if they optimize the hell out of it. There's no way my laptop can calculate millions of polygons and pixels and not draw 8 mono color rectangles at more than 5 fps.

My workflow in Premiere is so fast right now and I hate the thought of investing time to learn only to lose time on each video while i learn, and not necessarily know if ill be as quick with resolve but...a lot of what you've shown here already kind of eases that fear because it looked intuitive and fast to do something I would consider time consuming. BROOOOO This video was SO GOOD not just for the fact that the plugins are awesome but the fast and easy explaining of the plugins with the live exemples, this video was a killer for sure, thanks a lot!
The reason for the mic echo is because shotgun mics trade distance from the audio source (bad) for an interference tube which only works on some frequencies, and only sometimes. The interference tube is good if you're overhead micing on a movie set outdoors for example, but in a room like this it just hears a lot of room echo. The stealth disadvantage in this situation is that the sheer size of the interference tube forces the mic capsule away from your mouth. It's important to position the mic capsule as close to the source as possible while keeping a zero percent chance of clipping, plosives, or going off-axis, because this allows lowering the gain, which lowers the volume of everything except the source. The design of the capsule actually has more to do with the pickup pattern than the interference tube. If you snap the interference tube off here and move the mic capsule 8 inches closer, the recording will sound more true. Ideally you would just get a small diaphragm condenser mic without a big interference tube, like Sennheiser MKH 8050 or MKH 8060, and mount it from above, because the mouth tends to be closer to the top of the video frame than the bottom. You can read more about this if you search for Sound On Sound's Technical Editor Hugh Robjohns on shotgun mics. Hope that helps!
I've just started making content here on YT and use Davinci i thought thats what everyone was using especially small channels like me since its free. Im hoping by the end of the year ill get a raise at work so i can pull the trigger and buy the license because i would love to be able to edit and monitor in 2K and record audio directly in Davinci instead of importing it from Audacity. Loved the video and i cant believe im not subscribed already ive been watching your videos for a few years now and could have sworn i did 😅
This couldn't have come at a better time! My 8 year old MacBook Pro is starting to slow down so I'm using my gaming rig to edit in Davinci as of now. Also, I'm impressed with how quickly I got used to the UI in Resolve over Final Cut Pro which I don't care for as much nowadays 😬
Yup this sealed the deal. Davinci it is, was gonna cough up 300 for FCP but as a student…amma stick to Davinci for further notice. Love that it’s also on the iPad!
The wild thing about Resolve is that 15 years ago, a copy of Davinci resolve cost between $200,000 and $800,000 depending on install options and was only aimed at huge production offices. In 2010, they dropped the price by more than 99%, selling a MacOS version for under $1000.
Bruh. BRUH. This video was MAD helpful. I chose Davinci as my go to video editor when I began my RUclips adventure a year and a half ago. I have learned so much and it's been fun as well as challenging. This video is going to make it even more fun and level up my content in that special way that most in my niche do not do. I want to see Dustin come back and give us some more love but even if he doesn't, I'm going over to his site and check out the rest of his stuff because this was super helpful. Now, let me go make this video that is supposed to post on Friday and add some of these elements. Thanks and much love. Peace and hair grease! 👊🏿🙂

Great video, guys!! I was just exploring Premiere, Final Cut and Resolve… now that I know it’s gaining traction and I’m already a Black Magic Design customer…. Davinci Resolve Makes perfect sense. Thanks!! 🥳🎊🎉
If you're willing to learn the fusion tab, you can do most of this in just a couple minutes. These plugins are really just short uts for what Fusion can already do.
yooooo, to think we'd see Patrick's "Proto" plugin come through on a plugin list!! Let's go!!!!
Nice to see MrAlexTech getting some love. Been using that guys plugins for a while.
i have been using davinci for 6 years if not more, never going back but i pretty much only touched the surface and never messed with plugins but i am going to do that soon, thanks for this video very usefull stuff
Having a person who knows about the topic explaining the video? BIG YES
You be in ALL the videos about editing, and what else you knowledge in!
Its for the same reason I like watching Harris do the streaming videos, on how to improve, and what to focus on.
Been doing research for months on Da Vinci and known/used a bit for years and it keeps getting better and better. New version comes out roughly every 1.5 years. I knew about all of the plugins mentioned in the video and Yes Alex, Patrick are great Resolve RUclipsrs and not just them. Theirs plenty that focuses purely on this software.
Been using Resolve for well over a year now and haven’t even tried any plugins yet, thanks for previewing these gonna have some fun with them!
Edited a huge project with Resolve's free edition a long while ago and was just blown away. That alone sold me on getting the Studio version. Really happy with it to this day, still
This video is a godsend, Ive been using Adobe Premier Elements for the last 2 years and man, DaVinci is so amazing compare to premier. Using premier elements felt like I was back in 7th grade falling asleep in photoshop class. Davinci is so clean, flexible and modern which makes it so easy for beginners.
I did NOT know about the sound library! Awesome thank you. ALSO.... Mr Alex Tech and Patrick Stirling are absolute ROCKSTARS!!! Everyone should go get their plugins, and pls tip they deserve it
😊😊😊👍
BROOOOO This video was SO GOOD not just for the fact that the plugins are awesome but the fast and easy explaining of the plugins with the live exemples, this video was a killer for sure, thanks a lot!
i got a bundle with the speed editor a while back for a short film and I have never once thought about using anything else again
Loved the video and i cant believe im not subscribed already ive been watching your videos for a few years now and could have sworn i did 😅
Loved seeing your editor in here, yes definitely bring him back again. He was very helpful (and also adorable).
Using Davinci Free everyday and everyday I love it more and more! Former FinalCut user here until v7
I’ve just recently switched to DaVinci for my gaming content. Super easy. Love the free plugins. Happy to see more of this
I was not aware of that sound library, that is huge, thanks
This couldn't have come at a better time! My 8 year old MacBook Pro is starting to slow down so I'm using my gaming rig to edit in Davinci as of now. Also, I'm impressed with how quickly I got used to the UI in Resolve over Final Cut Pro which I don't care for as much nowadays 😬
Yup this sealed the deal. Davinci it is, was gonna cough up 300 for FCP but as a student…amma stick to Davinci for further notice.
Love that it’s also on the iPad!
I literally use every one you mentioned. Was hoping to find something new but glad I'm at least up on some of the best.
My streamer I edit for brought Davinci to my attention, and man is it amazing. Some things have made my editing time cut more than in half with how simple some features are. That being said, this video was awesome. I was looking for new ideas and shortcuts so thank you 🙏
i bought the studio version for myself as a christmas present and 100% im under utilizing it these plugin help also bought myself a color correction course which im working on soon
More divinci editing tips from Dustin would be great!!!🎉🎉🎉
GREAT CONTENT... GREAT HELP.... GREAT PLUGINS🎉🎉... Love it bro, ive been lookin for, concrete, info just like this!!!😊
As a new comer to Davinci Resolve, these plug-ins look like an amazing time saver! I am still learning how to do Text Effects to make my videos pop, and Magic Animate alone looks like a fantastic time saver.
Been using it for years, love seeing it becoming more popular. Wonderful video!!!
Great video. As someone just now starting to create content, the first two plugins in particular really make my life easier
One of my favourite part of the the mrAlexTech plugins are essentially fusion template and macro tools. So you can still dig into it in fusion and customize it further.
ABSOLUTE PROPS on this video and especially to Alex! I'm LOVING the Magic Zoom, and now listening about the Magic Animate, I'm Fin'in to install that one pronto as well - donating to Alex is a must for these amazing plugins! As much as I zoom my videos, this is amazing!
