I owned a '96 4x4 automatic PDB, PS, PW.TW. We put 150,000+ miles on it then my buddy bought it and drove it another 5 years until just before he died. Nothing but routine maintenance ever. It is still in my neighborhood and I see it occasionally pulling a small cargo trailer. We pulled an Aliner camper for 6000 in the mountains and made several 4000 mile trips with it and then used it to pull stumps when we bought our woods property in N. Fl. Dual Range 4X4 means 12 speeds including a granny gear. A really great unique vehicle, like a convertible with the T-tops out and comfortable in the summer with A/C. Big Trunk for vacations and never failed to get special looks. Very comfortable on long trips and I am 6-1/230 lbs. Sure wish they were made today, even at 82 I might just buy one.

I was 38 years old when I bought it as my first new car in 1996. It was totaled 15 months later, after getting rear ended by a DHL Van on California Highway 17 in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Mine was red with a manual transmission. I went looking for a new one, but the models after '96 didn't have the same things standard (like antilock brakes) and dealers didn't want to spend the money to order them with extras. I ended up buyig a '98 Firebird Formula. I would be interested in buying another one if the price was right, preferably with the featurs that came standard in '96. Red would be great!

Eh, it's not very exciting. I'm sure it would be great through some offroad trails but in reality, it's just a slow automatic Suzuki Sidekick with some more "90's" styling haha.

It looks like a cappuccino with a lift kit but it's great, I'm thinking of getting one, lowering it and making it more of a road car, just imagine pulling up to a track day and seeing a guy in a lowered x90, it would be awesome

I wouldn't mind getting one of these for snow days.

I owned a black '96 Suzuki X-90 with the 5-speed manual transmission and 4 wheel drive that you could turn on or off. It was rear-wheel drive when 4 wheel drive was turned off (for better gas mileage) and it had a T-top just like this one. It was my first car and I still miss it to this day. I learned how to drive a stick shift in this car. The interior was the exact same as this one except for the shifter of course. That car was a blast to own. The stereo was surprisingly good considering it only had 4 speakers and a cassette player. It handled very well in the snow (I live in Michigan). Mine didn't come with A/C or a CD player which kind of sucked, but it had good ventilation and was super fun to drive at night with the tops down and I had an extensive cassette collection at the time. I got just short of 100,000 miles out of it and maintenance was very inexpensive. If someone were to make a vehicle like this again, I would buy it in a flash. I had a lot of fun in that car. Just don't take it on the freeway and try to do 70 mph. I made that mistake once. It's able to do that speed, but the handling suffers and the engine winds up pretty high, and it just doesn't feel safe. But if you're cruising at 55 mph it gets good gas mileage and the handling is just fine. If it were for sale today, I would buy it again. This time I would make sure to get it with air conditioning!

These and the samurai/sidekick are so weirdly shaped and niche looking. But with some 31's and a lift they are so capable! Nice review and don't forget to buckle up!

Haha yeah I bet since its even smaller (wheelbase wise) than a Jeep Wrangler. Also I must've completely forgot my seatbelt while making that clip haha. Probably only drove about 500 feet on a non busy park road

Neat little car, kinda like a 4WD Miata in some ways. Also, those front headlights look like they're from another Suzuki vehicle, the Cappuccino. A small roadster. Basically this car is a lifted 4x4 version of a roadster.

Finally someone else who gets this car/suv thing. I've always thought of these cars as a 4x4 miatas/cappuccinos.

So, some things about this video:
    1. I do know now that it is a 4 speed auto, I tried to put a title but for some reason it got changed to being the same one that was supposed to be later in the video.
    2. Yes I wasn't wearing my seatbelt, I literally drove about 500 feet for that clip in a park going about 15-20 miles per hour. (I had heard that it actually didn't click also from a co-worker so I didn't even try)
That's about it lol. I will try to respond to any comments relating to anything else.
Also, who stayed until the end to see the bonus clips? :P

The Suzuki Sidekick had a mechanism on the wheel hub that could disconnect the front wheels from the drivetrain. That allowed it to be front wheel, rear wheel, or all wheel drive.

Mine didn't have air conditioning. There was a button shaped bump where the A/C would have been. It was optional.
