3:26 I thought that was going to break into the Postman Pat theme
No door pockets in 1996. My bro 1982 Audi had 4 pockets.
No door pockets, radio an option, power steering and electric windows considered luxury: Isn't it stunning how much car equipment has evolved within the past 25-30 years?
i like how he is making fun of bad hair cuts.
Just realised that this was the first real crossover.
Saw one TODAY for the first time ever - thats why I'm on this video. It's a bit ridiculous - but expect this shape to make a comeback in the next three years. They are doing all sorts of weird crap these days - my money is on BMW making something like this.
I can only HOPE you are right! I got my 1997 X90 a few months ago, with only 100K on her. I don't think Pansy will last the rest of my life, but I would NEVER choose to drive any thing else again! I've had 'em all. 60's T-birds, 70's muscles, Citroen, Jimmy, Westfalias, pick-ups, 18 wheelers. This girl's got it all! Tows yer other toys, has no winter issue, no summer issue, no parking issue, no gas mileage issue, no threatening electronic nightmare (so far - but I certainly would have preferred manual windows and locks). For marathon road trips, she'll probably just hitch hike on big bro RV.
I could totally see BMW making an X-Roadster and saying that's it's the world's first 4x4 roadster, except that Suzuki made it first in 1996 with the X-90.
I am replying to you from the future. Such comeback hasn't happened yet. Ah, careful btw... 2020 is going to be a crazy year
@@thecreativeprocess8838 I am replying to you from the future. WHAT DID YOU KNOW THAT WE DIDN'T!?
I have owned 3 suzuki x90s .it's a convertible in the summer and a 4x4 in the winter...suzuki make a very reliable vehicle. I've never been left on the side of the road....my 2006 grand vitara is the best .....id buy a new suzuki before a Honda or toyota....
As a Jimny owner I agree :)
On Top Gear, when Richard Hammond turned a Vitara into a police car, Jeremy called it a hairdresser's car.
4:55.
Cute little Emily Clarkson.
0 - 0:13 I wonder how much help some 1 or 2 inch wheel spacers, creating a wider stance would be? Put on 4, two inch thick steel (not aluminum) wheel spacers for a wider stance and do the same test....Or a combination of wider offset wheels with wheel spacers and just add some fender flares.
I saw an X-90 the first time in my life today. I didn’t know what it was, I open RUclips to watch people fails, and this video is a suggested video!!🤯 speak about coincidence!
Ive had a baleno gtx from 2002 now dead but i was stunned that almost every interior piece is the same as that old car
My neighbour has one of these in purple. Considering how nowadays so many people drive in boring, dime in a dozen SUV's it actually looks quite interesting
Even the old old Top Gear is more entertaining that the current one.
waited to watch this AFTER i bought mine, still love it. 1997 purple RWD 5 speed with 16k miles
Geez, did they drive it for one year and then just park it away some place, that's amazing low miles! I bet it still feels 'new'. Or did they let it rot outside and get sun burnt, faded interior, or rusted from being someplace wet?
@@marcusdamberger nope, was owned by an old lady from new until 2016, previous owner bought it off her with 12k. there's some surface rust on the suspension and brakes and a little paint fade on the roof but apart from that it's mint, interior is perfect
@@JowoHD Amazing find, I hope it was not too astronomical, or the previous owner way too enthusiastic about pricing. After all, it's still a 20+ year old vehicle that no one knows about or considered significant. It sounds like a nice toy to have slash time machine.
@@marcusdamberger it was a pretty decent price, the owner also threw in some spare parts and such. i appreciate the kind words :P
despite being old here he looks like he just got a degree and is smoking pot at night
I had a x90 in 2002 and i really miss it. It was a real 4wd. And su0er fun to drive. Specially in winter. Also in trafic.
The show is amazing
Car shows these days are so devoid of humour
Regular car reviews?
It is called political correctness.
Clarkson and the gang had an amazing run for many years. But all good things must come to an end sooner or later, unfortunately.
@@austinpetemo imo pretty hit or miss recently, it's like post-ban wave Reddit: The Motoring Programme nowadays
Clarkson was the canary in the coal mine...his "un-PC'ness' eventually earned him the ire of the Lefty / woke BBC leadership and...he got the heave-ho.
And then they came for Dr Who...
This is officially the coolest episode of any automotive TV show EVER! And the car is actually not bad either. They were quite well built (it is a damn Vitara underneath!), they have developed a cult following AND THEIR PRICES ARE GOING UP! I would love to have one, it would be the sensation of the office parking lot. Something like a Civic Del Sol, I reckon.
Combines the performance, handling and roadholding of a small SUV with the practicality and load-carrying capacity of a small sports car.
I had one of these, I "inherited" from my brother. At first |I was embarrassed to be driving it as it was the only car I had at the time but in a few short months I came love that little thing. You took the roof off put it in 4WD and while underpowered overall GD that thing would go anywhere.
4:32 that's exactly why I'm watching this video right now.
There's one of these for sale in Tulsa now. Asking price is more than when it was new and it has 101k miles on it.
There’s still no car made like the x90….best small coupe of the 90s? Reliable 4x4 Suzuki
I just got an x90 from my brother. Plan to lift it for offroad fun! Parts are hard to come by, so I plan to check for sidekick/tracker parts and my kids lego collection.
Must watch. The tallest aseel rooster I've had as yet: ruclips.net/video/CZQXPkLnPOk/видео.html
Why do i have to see it?
@@artilleryfire6576 because the video is from my humble channel. And I request you to support it. Every view counts. Every comment is precious. God bless
God, i remember bbc world when i was growing up, its what the teachers used to record during the night in the chance that they might be able to wheel in the VCR player and small tv the next day in school to distract us for a bit.
Real men eat their quiche with chips and salad.
I love T-top removable roofs.
They persist in certain iterations. Had a Honda DelSol, too briefly.
idk. it is badass.
After seeing one for the first time at the car dealership I worked at I said. What the hell is that? All Suzukis at the time had plastic coverings across the rocker panel that were nearly impossible to remove.
I had a brand new Geo Tracker in 96 95 hp with a 5 speed. I bent the Unibody offroad. It was so slow and still great fun. I always thought the X-90 was cool looking
The frame on the 96 was a full ladder frame not unibody
I had a Subaru Brat (Loved it) when in College ... the X-90 would be just fine for a College student as well.
much better then top gear these days
Always liked the 'look' of these, you couldn't help but notice when one drove by! Maybe too ahead of it's time. Remember this pre-dates the 'wacky' designs of the Smart car, the Cube, the iQ etc. With some updates/revisions (electric even?) it might be much more accepted today!
Man without that video i would have never found out how i can open the trunk 😂
RUclips recommend me this in 2020 August!
I loved it when cars had those Technicolor interior incerts. 1:43
Yeah, me too, it doesn't get more 90s than that.
I was thinking this was mid 80’s but it was 97’!
Man, Jezza aged quickly!
This car has a bigger engine then most of the modern cars in this price range (1,6l Vs 1l)

Put Ford Crown Victoria springs and shocks on it and you can fit some nice large tires under it. A tough little 4x4. Always wanted one of these ever since I first saw one. It's just the answer to a question nobody asked.
I saw one of these a few days ago, with the badges removed. It looked familiar, but I couldn't remember what it was.
I actually really want one of these.
Rwd, manual, just slide around on dirt roads at the speed limit. I like that it has no roof. I like that it isn't very fast. And I like looking at it. It makes me smile.
If James May can love a Fiat Panda, I can love the x90. But hey, I'm glad no one else does because they aren't easy to find.
So today I found out that Clarkson is so tall he needed to buy 2 vitaras just so he could fit inside
My dad used to own one. His was manual. He said if you got over the looks it was actually kinda fun,
“In a fax they sent me today” 😂
That line aged just as well as the car
why do I have to get two unskippable ads of Alfa Romeo Junior and Lancia y
I once drove one when my swift was in for maintenance. Had lots of fun in it but the chance of tipping the car was very much a possibility when going through the corners a bit too fast. I enjoyed the swift Gti-loner even more. Suzuki had some crazy cars that time.
Really? You were close to tipping in a good part of your high speed maneuvers?
That happened?
(or you imagined? you worried?)
Say what you want, this car design's had balls that we wish modern cars had.
Even if you don't like it, it makes you feel something, and I'd rather feel anything than the indifference I have to a lot of boring modern designs
I've only seen them re-registered into tractors here in Sweden
Are those the cars that are restricted to 30 mph that young teenagers can drive?
@@MonkeyHunch1 yeah, except they're restricted to 30 KM/H. Way back those A-tractors or EPA-tractors used to be fully rebuilt Volvo Duetts with twin gearboxes, short gear ratios, very short rear ends and no rear suspension at all with painful registration processes.
@@ENKTDeeColon_and_randomnumbers Thanks for the reply. I had seen the old Volvos at some point in the past. These do seem like the perfect car for the job. Cheers from the UK.
@@MonkeyHunch1 cheers right back
“It said police, not hair dressing salon”
Like a Ford Capri for Noddy.
Ah that was Jeremys daughter! Just realized that now :-) @4:37
Were these something for the European market? I don't ever recall seeing these in Canada.
The SJ410 was indeed fun. I just got a 1992 Suzuki Katana, a 1.0l 2WD version
