It was a tribute to Marilyn "Mare" Wakefield, wife of pro player and Green Stompy All Star Jamie Wakefield. She passed away from cancer in 2006 and Wizards designed a card to commemorate her for the Planar Chaos set.
Mark Rosewater himself wrote the flavor text: "Only nature wreaks such lovely havoc".

Edit: OK I turns out there are some decent 1 cmc colored artifacts, artifact lands, and some X degenerate cards like Chalice. The clunky wording is fairly justified

My favorite use of helm was an SCG Invitational where a player was on a deck that relied on his GY, so people brought in Leyline. So in his sideboard was helm and he, did in fact on camera, helm his opponent after his opponent put a leyline into play on the previous turn.
Ben can get salty, and has made mistakes, but the chat bitching? That is too much. Leave the guy alone he's playin magic with his friends, at work, on camera, for no prizes or honor or anything. Chill. It is okay.

OK, but pronouncing "Ewige Zeugin" (german Eternal Witness) as "E-Wiggy Zoogin" hat gotta be a joke, right? You can't be THAT bad at pronouncing german words.
First game is an example of where maybe you should mulligan away a "gas" hand if your opponent is playing a deck YOU made. I dunno, closed the video just from that.
Playing sub optimally to make your opponent feel better is honestly more insulting imo
I've enjoyed your CanLander content in the past, and would like to still, but it's really difficult to get through watching a game with so many mistakes. Even worse, when it gets by three people at the table (four counting anyone running the camera). This time, things with Urza's Saga were wearing me down, and there were other mistakes, but it was Endurance that pushed me over the edge. "...up to one target player puts all the cards from their graveyard on the bottom of their library in a random order," not, "target player shuffles their library into their library." I know that everyone makes mistakes, and I can tolerate a few, but to make so many... Shouldn't you try to be better? Maybe no one else cares, but I would rather see the game played properly, or even well, and won't be wasting my time on your videos until someone convinces me that there has been some improvement.
This is the first time back to playing Canlander in person, all these cards mentioned came out not that long ago, they don't play any of the formats those cards are played in and most of them don't get to play paper much outside of this stream anyways. Not sure what you want from them, they're on camera trying to be entertaining, not playing super tight perfect magic.
