Whoever disliked this video must have had their clever scheme foiled by some meddling kids.
It was the Thirteen Ghosts.
@@faishiro5009 No homo but I love you for that comment
@@danjay2698 I sensed thee homosexual nature of your comment.
@@faishiro5009 yess haha
Those darn meddling kids! Am I right 👍
First! This vid was the most complex video I ever fuckin' made and, yeah, it's a bit different from most of my stuff but I like documentaries and I really wanted these videos to be a pure, nostalgic love letter to these cartoons.I, Doctor Wolfula, will be returning soon with a Hills Have Eyes review and there'll be some Ghoulogs from Ghoulash, I guess…
Thank you doc. Ive been hit with Scooby nostalgia lately. Ive burned through most of season one. Did you see the recent supernatural Scooby doo crossover?
Doctor Wolfula
Well done video...hope to see more from Cyd in the future.
Doctor Wolfula 🙌
The amount of work, care, and research put into this video is remarkable. As a documentary about the history of the original Scooby Doo series, I'd say it nails nearly every component of what makes a documentary informational and entertaining.
Doc plz review class of nuke em high
Never knew Shaggy was a gymnast, that maybe explains why he runs so fast from the monsters
I can't wait til you get to Scooby Doo on Zombie Island.
Rest In Peace Ken Spears, who passed November 6, 2020 and Joe Ruby who passed just months ago on August 26, 2020. Scooby-Doo has been apart of my life for so long. I hope to make a Scooby-Doo animated production. May their work continue to bring the joy, the scare, and impact for generations.
50 years of Scooby-Doo! WE've lost three classic voice actors: Heather North(Daphne),Don Messick(Scooby) and Casey Kasem(Shaggy). Frank Welker is still voicing Fred & Scooby-Doo.
kick rocks racist
This is the most comprehensive review of a cartoon series that I have ever seen. I loved it and would sit through as many of them as you can make. It really shows you depth, and the growth that you are going through is remarkable. Thank you for your time and effort.
Scooby-Doo is one of the best shows in cartoon history.
This is this best thing ever!
17:40 - 17:47: sometimes Velma joins Shaggy in the splitting up while Fred is stuck with Daphne; mostly for shipping purposes. I mean, hey, if Hanna-Barbera were shipping Pebbles and Bam-Bam together, I don't see how the four human members of Mystery Inc. weren't paired up in a similar way... just not the way "Scooby-Doo Mystery Incorporated" would treat said shippings as if they were toxic.
I enjoyed the original Scooby-Doo show as a kid and I still love it in this very day
Scooby Doo was one of those things I grew up watching with my grandma, along with Godzilla, and the Universal Monster movies.
That's awesome, man! Those are wonderful memories to have. 🤜
My grandpa would watch power rangers with me
the reason they never catch on is - par the course of it's darker, horror movie roots (it was supposed to be no comedy, straight horror) - that each episode is it's own 'movie' so the formula never changes, because we - the audience - are watching separate movies, this is lampooned in later incarnations.
Narrator’s voice reminds me of Patton Oswalt
In the late 90s and early 2000s my parents would get the vhs tapes of the original series with two episodes on it. The best
Same, still have mine too lol and got them on blu ray/dvd
*Have to disagree with the author about the songs being Cheesy.*
This was the era of music like "The Monkees". and the show captured that.
Thanks to the parent watchdogs back then, many Hanna Barbara's shows like Johnny Quest were scrapped.
This was so amazing, I love your dedication to Scooby Doo, I never knew a lot of the information here! Thank you for this, this really made my day so keep rolling on Cyd!
I’m glad there are people out there as obsessed with Scooby-Doo as me. I’ve probably seen all the episodes of the original series at least 5 times each.
Very happy this is back and I'm excited for more. This is an even greater step forward for this channel. True quality documentary.
I loved Scooby-Doo growing up, and still do. Great review on a classic TV show.
Doc Wolfula where are you?
He's got some work to do now!
I can't imagine how much work went into this
Damn Gloop and Gleep always stirring up trouble. How did I not know Shaggy was based off of Bob Denver? This is such an awesome video! Great job Cyd!
I got a little tears in my eyes. Thanks Cyd! Thanks for reviewing this as yourself :) As much as I love your characters Dr. Wolfula & Ghoulosh, Scooby-Doo Where Are Are needed a legit review. This is indeed, ONE OF THE BEST TV SHOWS EVER! This is the ONLY Scooby-Doo show I like...no....LOVE! Much like Cyd, I grew up watching it in the 90s. Especially during classic Cartoon Network airing. Whenever it came on, I wanted to video record EVERY episode I saw! I can't get enough of this show, even till this very day! I know own the complete seasons of 1 & 2 on DVD! I could really care less about the new Scooby-Doo shows that comes out these days now. I will say though, most of them are entertaining, and it does warm my heart that everyone still remembers Scooby-Doo. But no matter how many new Scooby-Doo shows they make, They WILL NEVER match up with Scooby-Doo Where Are You!
My son is in to this show hard. He has the first 2 seasons on DVD
It amazes me that through out every signal incarnation of the show, nobody acknowledge the fact that Scooby Doo is a talking dog.
They do in shagy and Scooby Doo get a clue but that show sucks so I don't blame you for not thinking of it
Quick little tid bit of info.
Larry Marks did the season 1 theme and Austin Roberts did the season 2 theme and the original Ted Nichols only was used in 3 episodes
20:30: Funny enough, “Be Cool, Scooby-Doo” was one of the few shows in the Scooby franchise that addresses that the mysteries take place in the summer.
Scooby Doo was my favorite show back in the day. I first watched it as a kid on public TV in Poland in the 90's. Fun fact, the show was aired with the original score, without lyrics, in Poland in the 90's. This brought up some good memories, thanks for this!
Wow! That was an amazing retrospective! I knew much but I never knew the signature song with lyrics as far as the "meddlin' kids" phrase were introduced in the second season
Honestly, this is one of my favorite videos yet!
A different take on the content, keep up the good work. :)
*Scooby Doo is just watchable. Even have it on as background noise sometimes and passively watch it.*
It's great when they team-up with Batman or Wonder Woman (recently).
As someone who grew up with the re-runs of the original series as well, this was a really heart felt video that I significantly enjoyed even more then some of your Wolfula reviews. You should do more stuff like this to give some variety to the channel, hope to see DTtM in the future!
I think adding songs to the chase scenes was awesome and a great idea. It’s a trend that continued on to this day.
I grew up in the 80’s ...my brother and I loved the original Scooby Doo cartoons. My mom used to call us her little Doobies... lol. She had no clue a Doobie was another name for a Cannabis joint. Anyway, does anyone remember the Scooby episode when they encounter 3 ice cream themed ghosts at an ice cream factory? The ghosts all look the same, except one was red (strawberry), one brown (chocolate) & one white (vanilla). I love that episode.
This was so amazing and amazingly well done! Spooky Space Kook 4-Evah!
Man this is such high quality stuff. It really bugs me how you don't have more views/subs
my favorite cartoon from my childhood
R.I.P. Iwao Takomoto 🙏🏾
R.I.P. Joe Ruby🙏🏾
R.I.P. Ken Spears 🙏🏾
You will not be Forgotten🖤
Loved the video definitely looking forward to the rest of the series.
I also think that Scooby Doo taught kids to not take everything at face value. It inadvertently preaches skepticism towards the unexplained or supernatural which I think is pretty good lesson.
Ironic that Scooby-Doo was based on the Archies and yet decades later the Archies would get their own Mystery solving show lol
I’m so OBSESSED WITH SCOOBY DOO WHERE ARE YOU AND THE NEW SCOOBY DOO MOVIES 🍿
The greatest kids tv show to ever grace the world, it had everything and still continues to this day. Scooby Doo will forever be cemented in History and i believe those who were involved with it’s creation and initial production hell even those with only 1 appearance feel happiness from seeing how many children it has inspired.
I couldn't have said it better myself! This was probably my favorite show to watch on Cartoon Network before we were blessed with Ed, Edd N Eddy.
side note on the songs: the song about being in love with an ostrich is actually about a girl ignoring the world around her, 'with your head in the sand' as the old wives tale about ostriches which states this is what ostriches do, (which they don't, but they sometimes lay their heads on the ground to stay cool); it became a metaphor for people that ignore everything around them. and I still have a crush on velma! (don't judge, haters!)
this was my first time seeing one of your video's cyd, and i'm honestly impressed. this is one of the best tv show retrospectives i have EVER seen. i'm honestly looking forward to seeing the rest of this series, and i really hope that afterwards you continue looking at animated shows like it.(in particular, the three different ghostbusters cartoons.)
When he drew scooby he didnt ignore the features of ideal Great Danes, he intentionaly did the exact opposite of what a great dane should be
THANK YOU!
Scooby Doo was one of my favourite Shows when I was a child back in the 80s and 90s. Interestingly the laugh track was not used in the german dubbed version which is still broadcasted in Austria - haven't followed the franchise much, I only saw the follow-up series were the gang met famouse Movie/Show Charakters like Laurel and Hardy, the Addams Family and Batman etc. as well as the 13 Ghosts of Scooby Doo. Saw the first live Action movie in the Cinema back then, but was kinda disapointed...
Last thing I saw of Scooby Doo was Mystery Inc, which I even as a grown up really enjoyed. Cannot wait for more episodes in this retrospective! Keep up the gread work :)
Brilliant! Very well put together Cyd! Looking forward to more, that was very informative.
Loved the Austin Roberts songs. My favorite had to be the one during the montage from the Headless Spectre episodes at the Mansion. Really enjoyed this video, I can respect the immense effort and time you put into this masterpiece of a video. Thanks for uploading!!
YES! Starting the scooby doo vid with an analysis about the zeitgeist of the late 60s love it
The editing in this video is amazing. I come back to it for that alone.
Dude, nice job here. I'm way late to this video, but it's probably the best fan retrospective for SDWAY that I've seen.
Also, it was interestingly weird to hear you without the "Wolfula" voice.
Nice work again.
I loved all the history and lore you shared for this franchise. I'm sure it took a lot of work to find it all, so thanks for the video! Just know your hard work is appreciated 😀
This is easily my top favorite Scooby Doo series of 'em all. I liked every bit of what I saw and heard. Good review and retrospective!
The irony behind them being worried about comparisons to marmaduke, look Marmaduke wishes he could be scooby doo 🤣
Literally my childhood. Great video Dr❗️
Though I saw reruns on cassette tapes.
Very great and in depth review love how you go back to the time. Very classic show with a great horror comedy theme.
been a big fan of your content for years now. this video flew under the radar for me but man, this was fantastic!!
Shaggy has given me subconscious verbal tick of slipping "Like" randomly into sentences when speaking.
I used to watch Scooby Doo where are you on my mom's VHS tapes and seeing this video made me feel so nostalgic, thank you Cid.
I grew up with this cartoon. There were even things that gave me nightmares as a kid from this show, but I love it. I love the backgrounds and the eerie settings, things that seem to be missing these days. I've even had dreams about lost episodes from this time when it was first aired. Darn I wish that was true, to see something like this that I've never seen before.
OMG u did it! After all the references, you finally did it!!
I'm 30 and I approve of Scooby Doo
Is 30 old?
Great review. I love Scooby-Doo! The greatest children's TV cartoon character ever in my books!
That puts a special place to my heart. I still watch old scooby doo
I like that you are talking about this long forgotten cartoon that not many people no about.
great video your stuff is getting better and better and definitely more ambitious keep up the awesome work
Very very well made review! Thank you!❤
This was the channel that got me really interested in Scooby Doo a few years back. Glad to see you doing more videos about the series.
Nice. I have always lobved Scooby doo. Just got scooby doo where are you seasons 1 through 3 this week.
The Classic Series that has been loved for Generations 😊😊👍🏾
Ok there's something I'm a bit confused about.
So, in a lot of Scooby media, including the second movie, it's implied that "What a Night for a Knight" was the first mystery they solved. However, in the museum in that film, it shows a few monsters from a Pup Named Scooby Doo. This has confused me for a while now, does this mean those weren't really counted as mysteries?
It's because Pup Named Scooby-Doo is technically a spin-off but within the movie they count it as Cannon
you always know how to make me laugh doc
Story Gurl this is Cyd, Doc’s human ambassador for the channel. Not Doctor Wolfula himself.
Ike Rants IK I'm not stupid many people call him that
Story Gurl I know I just really like role-playing 🙁
Ike Rants its ok
Ate there any other Wolfula video with Cyd using his regular voice? I kinda dig it
I actually remember the original lyricless theme. It was used on those Toon Tour of Mysteries DVDs that came with Keebler and Kelloggs products back around 2002.
I like laugh tracks because if I’m just listening to a show instead of watching, the laugh track will let me know if I missed a visual gag and need to actually glue my eyes to the screen for a few seconds
Always loved Scooby Doo. I gotta say Cyd, you have to be the biggest Scooby Doo fan! This is probably the best, most in depth documentary ever done on Scooby Doo. Great work man!
Dude! What a fantastic video! I loved it! Thanks for providing such wonderful content!
It makes a lot of sense to me they were originally written as a band. The theme song, which sounded like 70s indie rock, drew me right in.
Great video. I never realized how few episodes were in the original series.
This was beyond awesome to watch!! Scooby Doo is one of my all-time favorite cartoon shows! I was born in '73 and it's been a part of my life since I can remember. I really, really enjoyed watching this video! You're the man, Doc!! ✌️🤜
Being one that does cartoon retrospectives, i gotta give you an extreme amount of kudos to this. This is great and a loooong time coming.
Im glad you did this, thank you
also, saw my name in the patreon credits, so double thumbs up!
I laughed when you said he literally went to a great Dane breeder, picked out the prized one to draw and then made the cartoon great Dane not really look like a great dane
Slivermen was like oh my good Greif WE CAN’T PUT THIS ON THE TELEVISIONS FOR THE KIDS AND THEY RETURNED TO THE DRAWING BOARD AND THEN THEY RETITLED IT SCOOBY DOO WHERE ARE YOU AND THE NEW SCOOBY DOO MOVIES 🎥 WHO S S SCARED 😱 WAS TOO FRIGHTENING FOR KIDS AND THEN SLIVERMEN. Had inspiration listening to Frank snitrias starangers in the night AND THEN THEY RETITLED THE SERIES TO SCOOBY DOO WHERE ARE YOU
This was great! Really felt the love and passion in this one. Looking forward to the next one.
Great documentary. Its nice to see Hanna Barbera and Scooby Doo get some love.
@8:55 So THAT’S how Scooby got his name!? Interesting!
That was a wonderful video, thank you.
I’ve watched you for almost 4 years now, since I was 11, and your videos have just gotten better and better over time! You have the most entertaining and amazing videos ever, and I can tell you put your heart into them.
I was born in 1997 and I LOVE almost Everything Scooby Doo!!! I hope they make a Blu ray box set for "Where are you"? And "What's New"!!! I've even enjoyed all of the Movies
Who's ready for the upcoming "Scooby Doo Guess Who?" reboot???
16:54 "Fred proposes....."
Wait a minute, Freddy does not do that until The Mysteries Incorporated Series.
I’ve been waiting for this!!!
Can you do a video on Scooby Doo: Zombie Island?
If I’m the right kind of high I can’t ignore the laugh tracks. They like echo in my head.
Perfect review of my favorite cartoon ever!! Bravo
I just wanna know, who did this mix of the intro and where can I hear cuz its hella good!!!!!!
So glad to see you’re doing this series again.
This is really cool Cyd. I enjoyed hearing something coming from the heart. I loved Scooby Doo growing up too, and its really fun hearing someone else's experience with a beloved show.
